Stop the Destruction of Downtown Red Deer!

Update to our Petition

Hi Everyone, so far we have only collected 31 signatures on our petition but I wil be presenting it to city council next week anyway. Our petition states that "I will be withholding my property taxes from the City of Red Deer in 2024 and beyond until an acceptable concrete plan, timeline, and implementation date are presented for the relocation of the Homeless Shelter and the closure of the current location of the Overdose Prevention Site by the City of Red Deer and the Government of Alberta."  So far, no concrete plans have been put forward (big surpise) and the City continues to sit on their hands and hope that this problem goes away.  By signing this petition and withholding our taxes, it shows that we are serious about this and we can't afford to go on with this problem that the City and Province have created.  I have sent this petition to The Advocate, RD News Now, and Common Sense Red Deer (weekly updates from a group that is trying to make council accountable) as well in hopes that we get some attention.  I personally will be withholding my taxes as the petition states.
