Better Policing in Daveyton

We, the residents of Daveyton and Etwatwa note with concern that for the year of 2024, 124 people were murdered across both the Daveyton and Etwatwa Police Station precincts.

We call upon the Portfolio Committee of Police to urgently investigate both police stations and to report back to the community, with regards to:

• The unacceptably high murder rate and the stations’ inability to address these crimes
• Whether the station has a strategy to reduce the murder rate 
• The number of functional vehicles
• The number of SAPS officers allocated to the station
• The number of unsolved murder dockets 
• Any other factors inhibiting the Police from doing their jobs
