#12025-06-25 23:28Thank you for the update and good luck in your Mayoral campaign. To me, your most important commitment is actually not the rates cap. It is the intention to conduct a rigorous review of council infrastructure and staffing. You will get organisational pushback of course, but be motivated by what the New Plymouth District Council review saved; over 10% of jobs (in that organisation's case, over 100 roles were disestablished) and $10 million expenditure saved annually. Not chicken feed! While SWDC is smaller, I have no doubt similar outcomes are possible. |
