The indiscriminate private use of fireworks has no legitimate place in our society, and serves only to make life unpleasant for the great majority of South Africans, traumatising and even killing animals. Unsupervised use of fireworks leads to many cases of serious injury, mainly to hands and eyes.

I am so sick and tired of having my three dogs and three cats traumatised by the unnecessary use of 'snap, bang, whizz' and the resulting terror that my pets have to face. REALLY!!!!!! There is no place for fireworks in residential areas.

its about time a petition of this nature was started. It is grossly unfair that the rest of the nation has to be held to ransom by a minority of people who feel the need to disturb the peace, break municipal bylaws and inflict dire cruelty on animals through their selfishness. Lets hope the powers that be listen!

Please ban fireworks - our animals are suffering and although certain times were given to people in which the may fire fireworks, this was not adhered to.

Years ago I was all for fireworks, but since seeing how irresponsible the private South African citizen can be with fireworks, I've changed my views and support the banning of fireworks sales to citizens for private use.

Please can we start taking this very seriously 100's of animals are put through stress during the firework stupid season. It unnecessary and uncalled for..... We jump up and down about Rhino's but seriously forget to care about another animals when it comes to Fireworks - stupid irrelevant waste of money.....

It was like a war zone in our area. 18h30 to 02h30 on New Year. Lots of lost and severly injured dogs.

PLEASE folk sign this and ban this terror & torture to our pets. We do not need this "entertainment" in our country. Have you actually seen the terror in a dogs eyes when the "bangs' begin. Take a look next time !
