Please keep the punk community alive, by giving people all over Europe (and maybe the world) a *shared* experience through the Punk Show on BBC RADIO 1. Money isn't everything. Please invest in cultural diversity. Thank you.

Punk music is  still relevant today. In fact,it could be said,it is more relevant today than ever before! There are so many bands who wouldn't have even existed if it wasn't for the early pioneers.

Have loved this show for over ten years!

This is a very important part of the alternative and punk rock music scenes. The small bands gain enormous amounts of exposure that it vital for their careers yet alone giving people a break from the generic souless noise that will most likely replace it. They say they cater for all but in closing this show down they are not; in any way, shape or form.

To get rid of the Punk Show and Mike Davies would suck, I find that the Punk show is the ONLY reason I tune into Radio 1 at all! The point made of there being numerous shows dedicated to dance music and to take away one of the two shows dedicated to heavier alternative music ( the other show being Dan Carters rock show) is a valid point expressing that it would be stupid to take away the punk show when there is clearly a huge excess of dance music shows that crossover and play similar genres and songs to each other, unlike the Punk show as it is unique and unlike any of your other shows.

Also Mike Davies is such a great host! With an in depth knowledge of punk and all sub genres associated and with him hosting from the states it is so much easier for to get interviews with big names in punk and exciting new acts mainly due to California were all bands want to play and were the majority of punk bands come from!!

Yours sincerely

One of the few decent shows on radio 1 playing unsigned and off-playlist music.

Calling it the punk show doesn't quite describe the mix of punk, ska, rock, reggae which Mike crams into a show

This is the best show on mainstream radio. Without it, Punk Rock and DIY music will be totally under represented. The BBC has a long history of supporting new music, but this won't continue without shows like The Punk Show, and DJ's like Mike who so thoroughly support the underground scene.

Keep the punk rock show on air.

If you have a little spare time, please also contact BBC Complaints so we can hopefully have this decision looked at by the BBC Trust.

The punk show is the best entertainment program on Radio 1 with it's mix of punk, rock and alternative music. Many new bands are introduced and given much needed airplay by Mike Davies. Please reconsider!

Punk will never die

To rid a whole genre of music from such a major station, especially a genre with a message such as Punk, with its roots firmly grounded in truth and social commentary, would be like some kind of censorship!!!
Guest#23 Jun 12, 2014, 07:50
The Radio 1 Punk Show is the only national radio radio show that gives exposure to new punk, hardcore, ska and related genres. It's not just about punk, The Skints, King Blues, Sonic Boom Six and many others have benefited.

Radio 1 claims to be the champion of new music, yet it is now closing the door on so much new and innovative music.

Everyone should go here (https://ssl.bbc.co.uk/complaints/forms/?reset=#anchor) and complain directly to the bbc.
