Request for a Permanent SAPS building in Brackendowns

We the residents of Brackenhurst and Brackendowns, hereby petition the City of Ekurhuleni and the Departments of Public Works and Police to agree on transferring the property where Brackendowns Police Station is situated to be under the ownership of the Department of Public Works to enable SAPS to be able to build a permanent station.  

As it stands, the police station needs to upgrade its facilities to allow it to be able to have sufficient ablution facilities to cater for members as well as the public. Furthermore, the current holding cells are not big enough for a police station.  

Questions to both local and national government have revealed that the property where the station is situated is owned by the municipality and public works is currently leasing from the City of Ekurhuleni.

SAPS needs a permanent police station and as residents we feel that 20 years is way too long for a station to be regarded as temporary.
