SIGN FOR THE UNCONDITIONAL REINSTATEMENT OF FNB FOUR
We have learnt with great sadness of the appalling decision by the First National Bank, which dismissed the Four of its employees over some political talk. The employees were exercising their rights in line with South African constitution which guarantees the freedom of expression and speech. It was within their right to express a view on matters that will shape both political and economic landscape of South Africa. In fact it is what is expected of very citizen as the nature of our democracy does not end at the ballot every 5yrs, it include participating in the national discourse. What is most worrying as reported in the media is that their comments on Mr. Maimane marriage and transformation in the banking sector formed a mainstay of their dismissal. The negative comments on other political parties are not reprimanded for consistency purposes and this smack of discrimination and discourage black young professionals who always receive a raw deal in the corporate world. The FNB is not consistent in enforcing discipline though, we have concluded that this case point to other motives other than the official position as outlined by the bank, particularly a political motive to tame independent thoughts of these black professionals. Hence we are calling on FNB to do the right thing and be fair to Siphesihle Jele, Simon Masimula, Sipho Coke and Xolani Nkosi, who were employed as premium bankers at FNB in Inanda, Sandton and got fired for having a political opinion yet in the recent past the FNB CEO has recently entered the political space without any reprimand. The FNB is also reported to have also spied on private conversation of wastupp so that their ulterior motives may be achieved. Hence, we are calling on FNB to rehabilitate their brand by doing the right thing, by reinstating the FNB Four unconditionally. We are calling on the South African Public and FNB clients to join our pickets and sign this petition in support of the reinstatement of FNB FOUR.
