Slow speeding on Redwood Avenue

As a popular alternative to the lights at Greenwood and Gerrard, Redwood Avenue sees a high amount of traffic—and it's too fast. As well, Walpole is a street used in place of the intersection that sees vehicles regularly speeding, and as a two-way street with on-street parking, it's far too dangerous for vehicles to safely pass each other, particularly during to and from school times, as there's a high amount of young children in this neighbourhood walking to and from school. On one portion of the street, there's not even sidewalks on both sides of the street.

With our beautiful neighbourhood full of small children and furry pets, our goal is to reduce the speed for vehicles using Redwood Avenue and Walpole as a fast way to skip the intersection.

There are several unobtrusive ways we can do this: semi-permanent traffic cones at the base of the street, concrete blocks that can be subtly placed, etc. These measures wouldn't block or impede traffic, but would require more care to be taken at Redwood and Gerrard, and Walpole and Greenwood, and ideally slow the quick burn up the streets.

A few residents have been in contact with Paula Fletcher's office, and we've been told they require a petition from the neighbourhood to get this in motion.

While at this time we can't describe what the end result will be, we appreciate your signatures on this petition to show support for the city to evaluate and install something to reduce traffic speed.
