Speed Control Measures on Signal Hill Road, Opoho, Dunedin

 To Dunedin City Council,

We are seeking the urgent development of speed control measures on Signal Hill Road, specifically between Colin and Farquharson Streets.

The recent serious road traffic accident on 21st March 2015 on this road section has confirmed what local residents and those who have children at the Opoho School are concerned about; cars speed down this steep section of Signal Hill Road, and are a risk to children,  pedestrians, cyclists and other road users. This is not the first road accident on this stretch of road and without control measures, it is not likely to be the last.

Speed control will reduce the risk to those living in this area, and reduce the risk to children attending Opoho School and to the congregation of Opoho Presbyterian Church. It also reduces risk to Dunedin residents and visitors who wish to visit the Signal Hill Lookout and reserve area
