Support the study associations VU Amsterdam in housing crisis

According to recent plans by VU, study associations of the science faculty are forced to give up 65% of their space on the campus. This leaves barely any room for decent member rooms which are the heart of the associations. Throughout the years, the study associations have been a home for students and a place where students develop skills not learned in the classroom. This led to a science faculty with a unique and flourishing community, which will take a devastating blow without these lively study assciociations. We realize that the faculty has housing problems and understand that everyone needs to give in a little, but a 65% decrease in available space is not a viable solution. On the 20th of June, there is a meeting with the study associations and the Executive Board, the Faculty Board and Facility Campus Organization. By signing this petition, you're showing that you support the students in this meeting and helping the science faculty with all their students and employees retain this great community. 

Volgens recente plannen van de VU worden studieverenigingen van de bèta faculteit gedwongen om 65% van hun ruimte op de campus in te leveren. Hierdoor blijft er nauwelijks ruimte over voor fatsoenlijke ledenkamers, die het hart vormen van de verenigingen. De studieverenigingen zijn altijd een thuis geweest voor studenten en een plek waar studenten de kans krijgen zichzelf te ontwikkelen buiten de collegezaal. Dit heeft geleid tot een bèta faculteit met een unieke en bloeiende gemeenschap, die een verwoestende klap zal krijgen zonder deze levendige studieverenigingen. We begrijpen de problemen met huisvesting binnen de faculteit en snappen dat iedereen een beetje moet toegeven, maar een vermindering van 65% van de beschikbare ruimte is geen haalbare oplossing. Op 20 juni is er een overleg met de studieverenigingen en het College van Bestuur, het Faculteitsbestuur en de Facilitaire Campus Organisatie. Door deze petitie te ondertekenen, laat je zien dat je de studenten steunt in dit gesprek en help je de bèta faculteit met al haar studenten en medewerkers om deze geweldige gemeenschap te behouden.
