We are demanding the Irish Government to Establish an Independent Judicial Public Inquiry into what is known as the Donegal Mica Scandal

Defective Concrete and Blocks Scandal which Originated in the Republic of Ireland Better Known As The Donegal MICA Scandal.

We are asking the People on the Island of Ireland to sign this Petition.  

We are demanding the Irish Government to Establish an Independent Judicial Public Inquiry into what is known as the Donegal Mica Scandal.

The World’s leading Geologists and Scientists from Switzerland, Norway, Canada, USA, UK and Ireland have now collaborated in producing evidence from investigations undertaken by them over the last year on what is causing the structural defects in Donegal Properties.

Their investigation to date is science led and the results of this do not support the Irish Governments position or narrative that Mica is causing the structural defects in Donegal properties.

This investigation has identified the presence of Reactive Iron Sulphide Minerals and Sulphate attack as the cause of the defects in Donegal properties. These experts do not agree that Mica and the freeze thaw theory designed and created by the Irish Government is the cause of the defects.

The Irish Government in 2016 commissioned the Expert Panel to investigate what was happening in Counties Donegal and Mayo.

That Expert Panel reported back to Government in June 2017 with their findings and recommendations. This report was based on a desk top study and not on proper scientific analysis conducted by the right laboratories.

The Government then tasked the National Standard Authority Ireland (NSAI) to design and create a Defective Concrete Blocks Standard for Mica in Donegal and Pyrite in Mayo.   The NSAI Technical Committee 063 then began this very important work which led to the Defective Concrete Block Standard I.S. 465:2018 being published in Nov 2018.

On the 31st of Jan 2020 the Government signed into law the Statutory Instrument, S. I. 25 which became the 90/10 Defective Concrete Blocks Grant Scheme which then opened for applications in June 2020.

This was all based on guess work which should have been based and led out on science first. As a result of the Governments failures to date, we are now left with a Defective Concrete Blocks standard a guidance protocol that only covers Mica which is used by the Chartered Engineer for entry to the S.I. 25 that does not give Donegal properties the correct Engineering Solution to remedy the structural defects which is full demolition based on the correct scientific testing.

To date no one has been held to account for this scandal and as each week goes by, more allegations and counter allegations come out in the local and national media.
