Duck Creek Road Petition Update

Hello Reopen Duck Creek Road in Scenic Rim petitioners,

Firstly thank you so much for signing and leaving your comments. The petition is still open and continues to gather signatures, so please keep encouraging others to sign it.

The wheels have been turning very slowly forward but we thought it might be a good idea to give a bit of an update. The signatures and comments to date were taken to a meeting with Councillors in June and it was tabled at a Scenic Rim Regional Council ordinary meeting in July 2024.  

The information from the petition can be used in grant applications by Council. As well as using the number of signatures (currently 2447), the comments will be useful in grant applications to show community opinion, the statistics used for demographics and figures extrapolated to create visitor spends to the region.  

Funding has now been found to do a detailed design and business plan to help Council in being shovel ready for when they can apply for funding for the actual rebuild.  

The new change of state government in Queensland also creates an opportunity to present the petition information to a new audience.
