I too would love to see more policing being done on behalf of animals, I am a huge supporter of many organisations around the world trying to give a better life to animals but believe there is much to be done in our own back yard too.

There are clear links between animal abuse and violent attacks on humans. So not only would a policing system benefit animals in need of rescue and protection, but it could likely prevent further violence by individuals. I fully support REAL penalties for neglect and suffering of animals.

Please sign, we need to speak for those who can not. Animals give us so much, we need to be their voice and protect them. The government needs to do more, and laws need to be firm to help those who are going out of their way to do good. We need to back up those institutions.

I am a big dog lover n im sick of seeing so many beautiful dogs being euthed on a regular basis! One to two wks is not enough time to rehome dogs. I have one dog from a pound rescue n she is so loving a big smoochie shepherd gets on well with my other dogs . We need to do more for our fur babies!!

I 100% agree that we need a 24hr service there to help animals that cant help themselves and need our protection. It breaks my heart that people treat animals as lesser beings without respect and care. I have watched the american shows about the animal police and am glad they are there to help the animal as well as take the offenders to court, it would be great to have the same system in New Zealand.

i signed as animal abuse in New Zealand is now like a 3rd world countries animal abuse..this is desparately needed in NZ as i have seen other countries do this & it so helps to reduce & educate the people & to prevent ongoing daily abuse, neglect & an animals natural right to not suffer !

The cruelty that animals suffer here in New Zealand is intolerable. Animal abusers are often perpetrators of family violence. We need to protect and help the vulnerable and break this shocking ongoing cycle of abuse starting with animals. Protect the ones without a voice and together we will be stronger.

Too many people in this country are getting away with the ill treatment of animals. Something has to be done to make these people accountable for their actions. If we had animal police, maybe they would think twice about what they are doing. Hopefully anyhow.!!
