Comments

#3

I think its pathedic what this neighbor is doing and Buddy has rights too.

(Pictou , 2019-05-30)

#4

no dog should be mussled unless its agressive

(new glasgow, 2019-05-30)

#7

This sweet old dog is being punished for no reason except to get back at a neighbour for an unrelated dispute.

(Springhill, NS, 2019-05-30)

#12

I’m signing this because it is deplorable how New Glasgow Animal Control is handling this situation. I’ve contacted CTV News Atlantic about the story and hope to hear back soon!

(Halifax, 2019-05-30)

#14

Its not fair for these dogs!
Get someone in who actually investigates, report people for false claims, dont cage good dogs to please nasty people!

(Antigonish , 2019-05-30)

#15

I am heartbroken for Buddy and his family :(
It’s ridiculous to think that they can muzzle this poor dog based on just one person’s word, when that have absolutely no evidence! Maybe they should observe the dogs behaviour when he goes outside, or ask other residents in the neighbourhood before accusing this poor dog of anything. Such a sad situation!! It is so shocking to me to see how hateful some people can be!
I hope the town does the right thing and allows Buddy to remove the muzzle so he can once again live the happy-go-lucky life that he deserves!

(Timberlea, 2019-05-30)

#22

I don’t think what the town of New Glasgow is doing to this person and his dog . Those breeds of dogs are not vicious dogs .

(Sydney NS, 2019-05-30)

#26

This is a heartbreaking storey. I wish people wouldn’t over react and keep to themselves.

(Grand Barachois , 2019-05-30)

#27

Bullying a dog because owner is not liked is wrong

(River Hebert, 2019-05-30)

#30

I want to see justice for Buddy !! This issue seems like a case of bullying to me and it clearly seems as though the owner wasn’t even in the province at one point when animal control was called ?! Makes no sense !!

(Westville , 2019-05-30)

#36

Poor Buddy.

(Stellarton, 2019-05-30)

#37

Why can they take the word of the neighbor with no proof but can't take the word of the owner? Seems like a double standard that makes everyone/every pooch automatically guilty if someone accuses them.

(Oxford, 2019-05-30)

#40

This is ridiculous! At least get footage of this happening. If it's happening.

(St. Andrews , 2019-05-30)

#42

I believe that officer does not like dogs and is biased...they need to investigate him not the dogs that have never hurt a soul. Muzzling is wrong for dogs that don't deserve it! Perhaps the neighbors should be muzzled...

(GLACE BAY, 2019-05-30)

#43

The family is being harassed by a neighbor and being forced to unfairly muzzled their dog. Absolutely disgusting of the town of New Glasgow. Justice for Buddy!!

(Halifax , 2019-05-30)

#44

What happened to buddy was wrong

(Halifax, 2019-05-30)

#49

If this is accurate, your Animal Control officer needs to be re-trained on how to do his job. Step up, New Glasgow.

(Halifax, 2019-05-30)

#61

I had someone call SPCA about me as well. When the officer arrived and saw my animals, he assured me the next time that a complaint was filed (and especially if it was the same person complaining that they would look into them and file harrassment charges). I've never had any complaints again or before

(Moncton, NB, 2019-05-30)

#62

This is not right and people don’t get to be unfair to animals who have no say!

(Dartmouth, 2019-05-30)

#66

A muzzle order for a dog that does not require one just to shut the neighbour up is unreasonable and unacceptable.

(Auburn, 2019-05-30)

#67

Shame shame on the laws that make our dogs the victim of idiots who have nothing better to do with their time. I suppose it will be children next. Our animals have no laws to protect them anymore

(New Glasgow, 2019-05-30)

#68

i love animals they cant speak for themselves and im sure this dog does not want to wear a muzzle

(river hebert east, 2019-05-30)

#74

Never underestimate the tyranny of petty officials. Good luck!

(Vancouver, 2019-05-30)

#87

this is the neighbor who should be charged with offense of making a false complaint and wasting the town's time

(Eastern Passage NS, 2019-05-30)

#89

This is absurd, you are taking the side of one person...unacceptable!

(Merigomish, 2019-05-30)

#96

I'm signing because we should never punish an INNOCENT animal because of human conflict. Buddy should not be required to be muzzled or risk more severe uncalled for consequences because of someone who wants to cause the dog's owner grief. Using innocent animals is wrong and it is deplorable that facts and evidence have been ignored by town officials in order to appease one resident.

(New Glasgow, 2019-05-30)

#100

I have a golden and would be heartbroken if my baby had to be muzzled

(Digby county, 2019-05-30)

#102

There is no reason to muzzle Buddy. None. Why are the bad guys always protected?

(Millcreek , 2019-05-30)

#111

Your dog is cute and looks super friendly and well behaved! Also I love dogs!

(New Glasgow, 2019-05-30)

#117

This man and his dog should not be punished because his neighbor has an issue. It is clear that this dog is a loveable and unthreatening animal. From the first time the animal control officer walked in the house and from what I read the dog didn't even react to him, the officer should have ended it there. At the very least maybe interview other neighbors to see if the allegations are true. This is absolutely unacceptable.

(Lower Sackville , 2019-05-30)

#121

It’s not right. The neighbor needs a muzzle

(Sydney, 2019-05-31)

#124

This happened to me when someone else's dog attacked mine - this is UNFAIR

(Calgary, 2019-05-31)

#126

Muzzling should be re-examined And only used in the most severe of cases. Not without proper investigation and/or proof that the animal is any danger to the public.

(Halifax, 2019-05-31)

#131

there is no proof that this dog has done anything to have to be muzzled. sounds like a neighbour is causing trouble for nothing. after all one complaint was made while he and dog out of province!

(stellarton, 2019-05-31)

#132

I have a old golden retiver as well and they're the kindest and sweetest breed of dog you can have. Super un fair this beaitiful good boy should have to wear a muzzle!!

(Whitehill, 2019-05-31)

#134

If the neighbor complained about the dog running around when the dog wasn’t even there, then obviously the person is lying. Prove the dog is a threat before you put a muzzle order on an innocent animal. The neighbor is a bully and Animal control is allowing this to happen.

(Kenzieville , 2019-05-31)

#138

It’s not okay that this is happening to this poor pup!! The harassing man sounds like he is the ones who needs control !

(Truro, 2019-05-31)

#139

It is wrong to produce an order to muzzle a dog with no evidence, whatsover! Police need evidence, child protection needs evidence, but animal control doesn't-and just uses someone's word? I can tell you as a child protection social worker that people can and do make malicious reports on a continuos basis. Yes, people need protection from aggressive animals-not gentle ones !

(Blockhouse, 2019-05-31)

#141

I think these ppl with a little power do things without engaging their brain. What do they do with real problem animals ???

(Westville, N S, 2019-05-31)

#143

This is so wrong it’s unbelievable!!!

(Thorburn , 2019-05-31)

#146

You have to have a reason to do this not just one person saying they are scared of your dog

(Rossfield , 2019-05-31)

#149

No dog should have to be treated like a criminal to shut up a town idiot.

(truro, 2019-05-31)

#152

Thorough investigations need to be done properly, before extreme actions such as this are taken.

(Chester , 2019-05-31)

#153

I believe dogs shouldn't be muzzled without proof of violent behavior.

(Debert, 2019-05-31)

#157

This is rediculous. If the dog has not shown agression it should not be punished. If the other prson is that scared of dogs mybe they should move to a place that doesnt have any around.

(Nw glasgow, 2019-05-31)

#158

The dog has done both wrong, no proof AT all. The neighbour is crying wolf and some moron is listening instead of telling him to shut his lips.

(Halifax, 2019-05-31)

#159

An innocent animal who has never showed any sign of aggression to any one or anything should not be condemned because of some manipulative neighbor.
Proof should be shown prior to conviction on any crime. This makes your town look lazy and unjust. Free Buddy.

(Danville, 2019-05-31)

#160

I'm signing this because I do not believe it is appropriate to put a muzzle order on an animal that has never shown signs of needing one. The person in question making these claims has NEVER provided any evidence, AND at least one incident can be proven as an outright lie considering the dog wasn't even in the town at the time. This dog is not in the wrong, the human being making false claims against him is, and yet the dog is the one punished! Absolutely appalling.

(New Glasgow, 2019-05-31)

#163

I find this very unfair, bullying really IMO.

(Alma, 2019-05-31)

#164

I'm signing because we as pet owners need to be the voice for our fur babies

(New Glasgow , 2019-05-31)

#166

I’m signing because this dog only has accusations against him with no proof what so ever. It’s just as ridiculous as the town of Stellarton when they tried to ban certain breeds due to their breed solely. Give it up Pictou County. Stops being so old fashioned with absolutely everything. I’m shamed to tell people I’m from here for many reasons, things like this being one of many!

(Stellarton, 2019-05-31)

#167

I have two dogs they are pitbull mixed bluenose American staff and we have had issues with the spca animal control people are scared and so call on us I am signing this because u shouldn’t have to muzzle your dog if it’s not aggressive or doesn’t hurt anyone

(Sydney , 2019-05-31)

#174

I love animals and I would hate to see them be treated unfairly

(Happy valley goose bay, 2019-05-31)

#176

False reports are a waste of time and taxpayer money.

(Dartmouth, 2019-05-31)

#179

This is wrong and no proof at all just the word of a man with a grudge

(New glasgow , 2019-05-31)

#180

I believe that buddy’s neighbor should be dealt with and punished for making false claims and wasting the time of animal control and buddy’s owner

(Dartmouth , 2019-05-31)

#183

I believe in animal rights

(Dartmouth, 2019-05-31)

#185

This is violating the dog's and owners rights. The individual calling animal control should be charged for false allegations and wasting animal controls time. Animal control should also do their due dilligence and perhaps connect with other parties to see which report is accurate.

(Merigomish , 2019-05-31)

#187

Im signing cause i think tjis is un resonable action to take on dogs that show no signs of being a threat or cause of their breed

(Bedford, 2019-05-31)

#188

This sweet dog doesn't deserve this

(Westville , 2019-05-31)

#192

It is ridiculous to not have to prove a dogs viciousness before imposing restrictions on the dog or the owner.

(Halifax, 2019-05-31)

#198

This is foolish!! There needs to be a reason given here.

(Halifax , 2019-05-31)

#199

This is terrible! Why don’t they put a muzzle on the idiot complaining! Come on new Glasgow do better!

(Westville , 2019-05-31)
