PETITION FOR THE INTRODUCTION OF A SHORT STAY PARKING CHARGE OPTION IN LONG STAY CAR PARKS IN GWYNEDD

Comments

#402

I think there should be a short stay option for people only wanting to stay a couple of hours.

Wendy Davies (TRAWSFYNYDD , 2021-07-04)

#404

Local business will suffer.

Dave Robinson (Harlech, 2021-07-04)

#405

We need shorter options!

Lisa Bird (Pwllheli, 2021-07-04)

#406

It doesn't take 12 hours to eat at Grahans cafe and walk on the beach. There should be a short stay option to.

Adrian Jones (Birmingham , 2021-07-04)

#407

We need short stay facility to support local businesses and
Local residents to use local facilities for exercise and social gathering nit lasting all day . This will prevent excessive street verge parking and a more rapid turnover on parking which could increase revenue

Christine Slade (Barmouth, 2021-07-04)

#408

This is really unfair to those thousands of people who want to spend a couple of hours down near the sea, NONE if whom want to spend 12 hours. Would you want to spend 12, say 9am to 9pm? This has left a very nasty taste in our mouths, tourists coming back every year for 11 years but now pensioners. We will continue to support cafe but now park on the road so you do not get our £1.10. Would have paid £2 but not paying £5.50

Gillian Alexander (North Dean. BUCKS, 2021-07-04)

#409

This is short sighted vision and nonsensical. You need to look at the bigger picture and what will bring in more revenue not just for the council but for the local economy. This action will not do either. An hourly rate needs to be reintroduced otherwise you will drive people way or just create problems and cause an effect on local businesses. Learn from pass mistakes, not you per say but decision makers in general. Toll roads like on the M6 most people will avoid as too expensive, so millions wasted and B roads highly congested. Did it fixed the problem? No? Have they made the money back putting that infrastructure in place? No. Do be that person!

Hayden Blinkhorn (Derby , 2021-07-04)

#410

The first 2 hours should be free , council could easily make up the money with speeding fines , Dog mess wardens, littering and fly tipping .

Bruce Rogerson (Harlech, 2021-07-04)

#411

This business will lose many customers due to the MASSIVE increase in parking fees...totally in necessary to put parking fees up 500% !!

Sue Emms (Oldbury , 2021-07-04)

#412

Dwi i'n byw yma. Ddim isio talu lots i fynd am dro byr efo ci.

Carol Mcweeney (Blaenau Ffestiniog, 2021-07-04)

#414

We live in an ageing community and daily walks and fresh air is extremely important. We are in a PANDEMIC and the mental health of children should be a priority, you are restricting local residents the use of your their beaches which they pay for through their council tax. No local resident is going to £5+ to walk their dog daily, to take their children down the beach after school, to take a stroll somewhere safe or would you rather have people walking along the main road to Harlech ! Disgusting 🤮

Heidi Williams (Talsarnau, 2021-07-04)

#415

I live locally and no short term parking will cause havoc on the roads where people
Will park anywhere and will have a detrimental affect on the high street if people can not just pop to Criccieth locally for one hour

Helen Wilcock (Criccieth, 2021-07-04)

#416

I live here and these new parking charges are ludicrous!!!

Ros Siddons-Emery (Harlech, 2021-07-04)

#418

Detrimental to tourism and locals

Julie Jones (Harlech, 2021-07-04)

#419

I believe the option should exist for local residents to use the car park for short-term events without incurring these ridiculous charges.

Paul Jennings (Dyffryn Ardudwy, 2021-07-04)

#421

Not including the 'short stay' option would deter visitors who wish to call just for an hour or so - this would have a negative effect on businesses reliant on tourism, a key factor of the local economy.

Idris Lewis (Llanbedr , 2021-07-04)

#422

I'm signing because the price hike in parking fees is totally unreasonable not everybody can afford this and won't pay it causing parking congestion elsewhere. And the effect on the local economy and small businesses will be effected. This hike is taking advantage of the covid virus and the thought that more people will be vacationing in the UK which actually very shameful

Kathryn Jackson (West Midlands, 2021-07-04)

#423

I visit my house in Harlech regularly and love to walk my dog on the beach, or do yoga. Sometimes I go to the beach twice and unless I walk from home its £6.60 so this feels very unfair.

Heather Chaloner (Stourbridge, 2021-07-04)

#424

It doesn’t seem fair to not have a short stay option in place. Some of the carparks in Caernarfon start off with a 4hr option for £2. Can Cyngor Gwynedd not be a little more consistent with what they put in place rather than just picking a number out of the sky?

Nicky John (Caernarfon, 2021-07-04)

#425

Dwin mwynhau mynd am dro sydyn ir traeth ac yn meddwl ei fod yn gywilydd mod i yn gorfod talu cymaint am barcio

Carys Wyn Jones (Blaenau Ffestiniog, 2021-07-04)

#427

Fully support this.

Steve Morris (Penrhyn, 2021-07-04)

#428

This will kill small business and will only create chaos around the village with people parking everywhere else but in car parks!

Ana Alvarado (Criccieth, 2021-07-04)

#429

To avoid parking everywhere else as one will not pay £5.50 for an hour stroll on the beach

Aled Jones (Llanbedr, 2021-07-04)

#432

This increase is not viable to short term parking

Yvonne Hutton (Nuneaton , 2021-07-05)

#433

Unreasonable charge for short stay

Anthony Tyler (Harlech, 2021-07-05)

#435

I visit there

June Hughes (Norwich, 2021-07-05)

#436

This will drastically impact local businesses and cause congestion on the surrounding roads as people avoid paying the fee and look for alternative parking on verges etc.

Lesley Powell (Walsall, 2021-07-05)

#437

This would be a fairer option

Karen Bloor (Dolgellau, 2021-07-05)

#438

The introduction of the new 12 or 24 hour only in carparks is a money grabbing scheme from our council.
You can no longer pop to the beach for a quick run, stroll with the kids without being charged £5.50.
As if petrol and cost of living wasn't enough.

Chris Rayner (Talsarnau, 2021-07-05)

#440

The parking fee in Llandanwg is far too expensive

Susan Wager (Gwynedd, 2021-07-05)

#441

Because its ridiculous! Shops are struggling as it is.

Paula Hancock (Harlech, 2021-07-05)

#442

As a local I find this an extortionate amount of money. Nobody wants to spend 12 hours on a beach. Give people the option of smaller charges for a shorter amount of time. No common sense & a decision made out of pure greed!

Vicky Howie (Harlech, 2021-07-05)

#444

This is an unfair pricing policy and should account for most parking users who only want/need short term pricing hourly or half hourly.

Adrian Lumb (Harlech , 2021-07-05)

#445

It's just not fair that Gwynedd Council have increased the cost of many beach car parks in Gwynedd by over double. It is going to kill the tourist industry and its daylight robbery.

Mattie Lowther (Porthmadog, 2021-07-05)

#446

We Love to Call for a coffee

Janet Williams (Harlech, 2021-07-05)

#447

I'm a regular visitor to Ty Mawr.

Frank Hughes (Norwich, 2021-07-05)

#448

We have visited this beautiful cafe many times on our holidays to Wales. In fact it is our favourite place. We remember our last visit having to pay £1.10 to walk our dog and have a cuppa and piece of cake. Now, you will have to add £5.50 on top of your tea and cake. Not everybody can afford, time wise, to spend the whole day here. I wish we could. This is going to cause the cafe considerable business loss and could potentially cause its closure. The car park was almost empty when we visited on Friday 2nd July, on a very hot day. Please, help by reducing the parking charge considerably or having a short stay charge option. We do not want to come back next year and this beautiful cafe has gone out of business due to the lack of council consideration. Thank you.

Tracy Sterling (Rochester, 2021-07-05)

#449

I agree.

Jean Deveney (Dyffryn Ardudwy , 2021-07-05)

#450

We come down to wales every weekend and only stay for a couple of hours and it is redicules to charge a fixed rate for 12 hours would be better to charge by the hour otherwise local businesses will suffer from lack of custom

George Symonds (Walsall , 2021-07-05)

#451

Im signing because I think and know not everybody want to stay 12 hours a walk on beach an maybe nice coffee in cafe does not take 12hrs. so maybe just a fifty pence ticket or even free would be nice

doreen morgan (harlech, 2021-07-05)

#452

I often pop down to Llandanwg beach with my 2 children, and they love that they cam have an ice cream in the cafe before coming home. 1- 2 hrs Maximum I would stay there so £5.50 a little steep to say the least!

Lowri Lightfoot (Llanbedr, 2021-07-06)

#453

I do not agree with this charge

Cath Pugh (Gwynedd, 2021-07-06)

#454

We parked here one day for £1.10 put £2.00 in and were happy with that had a hours walk then a coffee in the cafe and another hr on the beach total 2.5 hrs. Now find we have to pay £5.50 for 12 hrs which is totally unjust no one stays her5e for 12hrs!!!

david atkins (olney, 2021-07-06)

#455

We are concerned about the local business's loosening business as locals and visitors will not pay £5-50 to shop locally also cars will now park on the grass verges which are either side of our road going down to the beach and make it very difficult for residents to get out of their drive ways and emergency services will be hampered.

Phillip Pat Church (Llandanwg Harlech, 2021-07-06)

#456

I think there should be an option of a short stay fee too

Carys Belton (RUTHIN, 2021-07-06)

#458

This increase in charges will impact tourism, with visitors choosing more reasonably priced attractions. More significantly it will impact local people who make regular, short visits to Llandanwg visit the cafe, walk the beach or visit St Tanwg's Church etc...

Most confusing is the listing for 24 hour occupancy. While £5.50 is extortionate should a visitor be looking to spend a couple of hours, £11.00 for 24 hours represents very good value for money if you are in a motorhome looking for overnight accommodation. Touring parks in the area charge around £25 per night in the summer.

Should these car parks experiance an influx in motorhome's "parking" for 24 hour periods then this may cause further issues around anti-social behaviour and fly tipping.

Chris Locker (Harlech, 2021-07-06)

#459

I am signing because the price increases is ridiculous, the area would be lost without the tourist industry! Business are going to suffer because of the greediness of cyngor gwynedd!!

Sian Jones (Blaenau Ffestiniog, 2021-07-06)

#460

Rwy’n siopa, defnyddio’r ysbyty, ymweld â theulu, gwario amser hamdden ayyb yng Ngwynedd. Rhan amlach angen parcio am 1 - 4 awr, pris Iau 12 awr yn ormodol!!!!

Shan Ashton (Capel Curig, 2021-07-06)

#462

I often require to park for under an hour at local car parks and the charges are far too high for me to use on a daily basis.

Lynne Griffiths (Dyffryn Ardudwy , 2021-07-06)

#463

We have all had such a hard time since covid hit and going for walks is the only thing that kept a lot sane so to put up parking fees by such a high fee really infuriates me

linda pugh (harlech, 2021-07-06)

#464

I’m signing but I agree the potion would prove effective for local businesses.

Sharon Cooney (barmouth, 2021-07-06)

#465

Ridiculous pricing and not practical

John Williams (Llanbedr, 2021-07-07)

#466

I live in Harlech and use this car park

Clare Greenway (Harlech, 2021-07-07)

#467

It makes sense for locals to have short stay option

Helen Wannop (Llanbedr, 2021-07-07)

#468

Businesses need support after the most challenge year to their existence in our lifetimes.

Customers, locals, visitors and businesses are all effected by this decision.

David Retallick (Menai Bridge, 2021-07-07)

#469

Impossible to park on high street . So to pay £1.10 for 4 hrs ok. I probably only parked there for 30 min . But to pay £5.50 just to pop to the butcher or bakery is unaffordable. Would rather spend on petrol to go to Porthmadog to one of the supermarkets.

Bethan Thomas (Chwilog, 2021-07-07)

#470

Totally unfair for short stay customers. Also almost impossible to get £5.50’s worth of change……more and more shops only take card payments and don’t have the change!

Tim Poole (Newcastle, 2021-07-07)

#471

I come on holiday to the area twice a year with my family and the hike in prices are way too much when business are recovering from covid closures and will make tourists think twice about visiting the whole area

Elizabeth Griffiths (Craven Arms, 2021-07-07)

#472

The parking charges as they stand now will damage local businesses

Amanda Carver (Pontllyfni, 2021-07-07)

#474

In certain of these car parks hit by a 500% increase in parking fees there is no allowance made for short stay visitors.

Mrs P E Morris (Colwyn Bay, 2021-07-07)

#476

The increase is crackers. Where are people to park to nip to a cafe or shop?

EMMA BOYD (PWLLHELI, 2021-07-07)

#478

The increase in charges is completely out of touch with reality, the increase will have a detrimental impact on local businesses to recover from Covid

Andy Wood (BAKEWELL, 2021-07-07)

#479

We visit these areas regularly and want to support local businesses, this increase in parking will definitely make us think twice.

Emma Cookson (Preston, 2021-07-07)

#480

Short stay popping in somewhere should be an option!

Jude Hoy (Llanfair , 2021-07-07)

#481

I’m signing because I’m totally opposed to the new Gwynedd parking charges which are excessive. They will force all cars onto already congested residential streets with associated risk of pedestrian accidents and difficulty for emergency vehicles not to mention the impact on local businesses .

Joanna Jones (Criccieth , 2021-07-07)

#482

I am signing because visitors will be put off staying. We relay on visitors in the area, cause the Welsh government doesn’t recognise North Wales! Only South Wales!!!

Mrs Richards (Llanbedr, 2021-07-07)

#483

I am signing because though I have a static and not a resident, these charges are stopping me supporting the town, when I only require an hour or so parking

Bonnie Crewe (ABERGELE , 2021-07-07)

#484

Short stay prices are needed. This discourages people from using the car parks and is pure greed. Sort it out Gwynedd council!

Jennifer Stevenson (Pwllheli, 2021-07-07)

#485

I have been visiting this beach since I was a child, I have continued to bring my children and now my grandchild. I love this beach and the little cafe, we visit many times as an extended family several times a year. Sometimes 2 or 3 times in the same week. The new pricing is excessive and unfair to many who visit on a budget.

Lucie Roberts (Kidderminster, 2021-07-07)

#486

I may just wish to visit to walk the dog or take the children to play on a beach or a similar reason and not stay all day

Lesley Amison (Dyffryn Ardudwy, 2021-07-07)

#488

Just went to Borth y guest for coffee but didn’t want to stay for 6hours !! So parked on the road !

Laura Raymond (Penrhyndeudraeth , 2021-07-08)

#489

My Mum is also local and has mobility issues and loves the short beach walk here.

Sarah Heyworth (Arthog, 2021-07-08)

#490

This is totally unfair on people wanting a quick walk on the beach or a coffee at the cafe etc , not everyone has time to stay for hours on end !! Choice of time spent please

Jane Osmond (Llanbedr, 2021-07-08)

#491

This is absolutely ripping locals off!! Gwynedd council should provide free parking e.g for 2 hrs for local people and staff of criccieth free. Minimum of £5 is diabolical and you are hurting the worng people!! Tourist wont mind what is £5 but for locals your taking the p*ss out of us

Natasha Jones (Blaenau ffestiniog , 2021-07-08)

#493

The pricing is inflexible and will lead to further congestion on the road leading to the car park which will be detrimental to the safety and amenities of local residents and visitors.
Multiple price points for car parking relating to time stayed cannot be considered 'confusing'.

Mark Kitson (Manchester, 2021-07-08)

#494

I live local to Llandanwg beach and regularly walk my dogs there as do lots of people including elderly people. £5.50 minimum fee is too high. Its great if your a visitor and parking to spend the day on the beach. But for the local council tax payers it’s prohibitive

Karen Wells (Harlech, Gwynedd, 2021-07-09)

#495

I walk my dog on the beach and it’s nice to have something to eat and drink after a long walk and a short stay parking would be far more suitable. I live in lower Harlech and unable to walk up into upper Harlech too and it’s lovely to be able to support our local businesses especially after the lockdowns

Anne Price (Harlech , 2021-07-09)

#496

As a local resident, I often only want to stop for a short while and think it’s unfair to charge everyone long stay prices

Viv Seears (Maentwrog, 2021-07-09)

#497

THE INCREASE BY GWYNEDD COUNCIL HASENT TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THAT USE THE CARPARK FOR SHORT WALKS WITH THEIR PETS ALSO FOR A QUICK SNACK AT THE CAFE BY THE CARPARK

Peter HUTTON (NUNEATON , 2021-07-09)

#498

tooo much money

imogen poole-lockyer (stoke on trent , 2021-07-10)

#499

I'm signing because I often visit North Wales and use the car park near St Tanwg church.

Anne Kelly (Haywards Heath, 2021-07-10)

#500

I’m signing because this fee has put me off visiting and using local towns, beaches etc. I feel £5.50 is too much if u just want to stop for 1 or 2 hours, or quickly pop in to a shop or post office, I’d rather buy online

Sue Davies (Harlech, 2021-07-11)

#501

I am local from Pwllheli and love to visit Dylan’s, this change in parking charges is ridiculous.

Helen Hewitt (Nantwich, 2021-07-11)

#503

My typical visit here would be for about an hour so an option to pay for a short stay would be great. Currently I just park elsewhere in the village as it is exorbitant to pay the 12 hour fee, so block up the place for locals- sorry but would pay a reasonable fee to park in the car park.

Chris Cook (Sheffield , 2021-07-13)

#504

Many locals and visitors alike enjoy Llandanwg beach and y Maes for a stroll or a catch up with others. (This is a beach that is easily accessible for elderly and disabled). The price hike will also affect the cafe there. Most will now park on the highway up and cause problems for those who live in the houses there.

Jane Taylor-Williams (Llanbedr, 2021-07-14)

#505

Residents and businesses need short stay options for using services like opticians, dentists and local services. Most residents don't need and can't afford long stay parking

Paul Jeffery (Caernarfon, 2021-07-14)

#506

I’m signing because I currently drive from my home in Rhoslan to my local town (Criccieth) to do my shopping. I firmly believe in trying to support our local businesses if we want our high streets to survive! I currently happily pay the £1.10 to park while I shop at the butchers, bakers and other shops on the high street, or while taking my sons to the barbershop. However, if I have to pay £5.50 I may as well drive to Porthmadog and go to one of the big supermarkets (and park for free!!)
I’m sure many other people will be thinking the same! This will be a disaster for the small businesses in Criccieth and other towns faced with similar price hikes!

Ayesha Tudor (Rhoslan , 2021-07-14)

#507

The fee increases are an absolute nonsense. If residents were seeing direct benefits of this additional money that would be entirely different. Who is going to pay £5.50 to walk on the beach or stop for lunch? Impacting on locals pockets and businesses is not what the council should be aiming to do.

Anna Gibbins (Dinas Mawddwy, 2021-07-16)

#508

I usually visit the area anually and want to enjoy areas like this but am sometimes put off venturing out when there is difficulty parking without large fees.

Gemma Fawcett (Sheffield , 2021-07-19)

#510

I support the petition
