Objection to density of social housing at 675-681 Gladstone Road and 42 Mill Road

Kainga Ora propose to build 22 units for social housing for approximately 70 residents in 2 and 3 storey buildings on the above site which is less than 0.75 of an acre in area. (See images below.) I, and local residents, have no objection to social housing and are sympathetic to the need in Gisborne but we do have concerns about the density and specifically the height of the buildings proposed. This area of Te Hapara is all one storey buildings so to have 2 storey, let alone the 3 storey propose

Change the Funeral rules for Alert Level 4

At Alert Level 4, no family members are allowed to attend a loved ones funeral - this is taken from Covid.govt.nz: "Funerals and tangihanga at Alert Level 4 Gathering together for funerals and tangihanga is not permitted at Alert Level 4."  This is causing irreparable distress at an already stressfull time - please see this article for an example of this. No one should have to watch a burial from accross the road, with the threat of the police being called if they set foot in the cemetary: https

A Desperate Plea to Bring Me Back Home!

Kia Ora, I am a resident of Hawkes Bay and it has been my home for close to 6 years while I work for the Hawkes Bay District Health Board as a Procurement Specialist. I am a staunch believer of the Gandhian philosophy in giving back to the community that one lives in, which led me to serve as board member for Hawkes Bay Multicultural Association, Hawkes Bay Young Professionals and the Napier Toastmasters. Last year I was presented with an opportunity to best serve my community and it was also th

We do NOT want Nelson Council to proceed with the planned new library

We do NOT want the Nelson Council to proceed with the planned new library. We do NOT want or need a new library. And we do NOT want the rates rise associated with this planned new library, or any large rates rises. We demand that the Council focus spending on the current needs in Nelson. Bring Mock Exams and Study Leave Back

The decision to cancel mock examinations and study leave at Westlake Girls High School was one made without the input of the student body- the people that this decision effects the most. The value of practice examinations and study leave is monumentally more than that of only two more weeks of teaching time. This decision should be altered if the student body wishes it so. In this current climate, where there is so much uncertainty having our practice examinations is vital. Considering that man

Fish Farming

The fishing industry is killing the ocean- over fishing just to fill the stupid quotas "needed" to please the markets. The excess fish are just dumped back in the ocean and at that stage, all of them are dead. Fish farming is a solution to save the Ocean and the endangered species living within it. When the commercial fishing boats are trolling along the drop off points and the reefs to catch the snapper, salmon, trout and marlin, a lot of the time they get more than just that. They end up getti
