Cancellation of internal assessments for BMSIT

IA - 2: 17th - 19th May, 2020 ( MCQ quiz ) for 30 marks

Lab Internals: 22nd May, 2020

IA - 3: 28th - 30th May, 2020 ( Subjective Test ) for 30 marks

Students face an intense amount of pressure to not just be involved domestically and help everyone around in a pandemic as such to create a happy environment at home but also excel academically. 

It is wrong to do so by the college authority because:

1. Very short notice and short time to prepare with courses and syllabus still running and students actively participating in classes. Promotes the culture of getting over with examination important than assessing knowledge gained. Students are involved from 8.30 - 2.30 ( Monday to Saturday ) in online classes to complete their syllabus

2. Discourages creativity: A time when the pandemic is creating an economic crisis and students are trying their best to adjust to the lack of employment chances in the year to come and trying to utilize this time to learn an extra skill, the colleges promoting to write assignments, conducting test is a discouragement

3. Undecisiveness: Students have written 7-8 assignments in few subjects so as to help college assess them internally whereas experts advice that it can be done so too.

4. Difficult to attend classes : Students are turning up in numbers to attend classes but there is huge connectivity issues often creating a lack of understanding in the content delivered. This examination schedule and assessment dates clearly show that there is no concern to the students who don't find the right internet connection, do not own laptop

5. Work from Home : Students have been asked to write Lab Records from home. Hosteliers moved out from the place at the first chance of the college getting shut without their books. It's already difficult studying and writing record is not just an extra pressure but is mere work with system to attain marks and shows the incapability of taking a decision by the authority in having an internal assessment. Students are asked to write record with diagrams, in a white sheet and scan them. Records are written over a period of 4 months with each experiment conducted and not at once towards the end.

There is so much more the students are facing but are trying to be understanding with the college and helping them out with every possible way but Assessments and in this way just looks wrong to the quality of Education we want the students to have
