we should be saving his life thought they were in zoos for a reason to be out of dangour it's very sad what happened to her but at the end he is still a wild animal he doesn't deserve to lose his life.......beautiful animals like him are already dying out in the wild don't make it worse

Don't blame the Tiger. Blame either zoo management or the keeper

Because I don't think oz should be put down he was only acting on instinct and we need to keep as many sumatrian tigers alive as we can as there is not many left

He shouldn't be put down, when he should be in the while anyway.

It is natural for a tiger to protect its territory, it is simply a tragic accident. Sumatran tigers are near extinct and killing one thats in a programme to help breed more is stupid.

Sumartan tigers are an endangered species, we shouldn't help that happen by putting down one ourselves!

Tigers are naturally wild animals

Natural instinct, it would be like putting somebody in a shark cage and them blaming the sharks for killing them.

Oz needs to be saved. He is a very rare Sumatran Tiger and has managed to successfully mate with the female at Hamilton Zoo. This led to 2 Sumatran cubs. What happened to his keeper is terrible, but I am 100% sure that her and any big-cat keeper would not undertake such a job without fully knowing the risks, thus, they would NOT want to see any of their cats put down because of such an incident. As many have already said, he was just doing what Tigers do. PLEASE Listen to the public and do the right thing. It would not be a good look for Hamilton at all if they do the unthinkable. This would also add fuel to the fire that the ruthless killing of Cecil the lion is an okay thing for humans to do. They are not our toys, they are the result of evolution over millions of years to become the apex predator that they are. Apex/Mega-fauna species are reducing in numbers becuase of Human interests. Modern Zoo's are supposed to help in international breeding programs, and Oz is still part of this.

it is always going to be a risky job looking after naturally wide creatures. I'm sure the wonderful zoo keeper who has lost her life would not this animal put down, her very job was to protect and care for them.

The tiger was just doing what tigers do. It is tragic for the keeper, but killing the tiger too will not bring her back. I believe that zoo keepers would have a love and respect for those in their care, and so she would not want that.

I was In Hamilton Zoo last weekend photographing these awesome WILD Cats. Please don't put him down and I am sure Sam would say the same. Risks are involved when dealing with any animals. Humans do worse things and get less.

These beautiful animals do not ask to be put in these places like zoo's etc.. and only do what they do out of the only thing they have left of their selves that is still wild their instincts so don't blame him him by killing him but learn and understand him and take more care. If we continue to keep putting these amazing creatures in these places for what ever reasons then we must except these kind of things will happen at no fault of the animal.

Unfortunately, it's very very sad the keeper lost their life taking care of this wonderful animal - but I think this is the risk that keepers sign up for when caring for wild animals - and the tiger should not have to pay with it's life because of it. We already have a dwindling amount of tigers in this world, and two wrongs do not make a right.

Oz is a tiger, thus an unpredictable predator. That's what wild animals can do. This is not a cartoon character nor is he a domesticated cat. It is a tragedy that a keeper was killed. It must have occurred due to a gate being left open since handlers and tigers are not supposed to be in the same space thus it was a work-related accident. Why on earth would this tiger be killed for doing what they do?

She devoted her life to animals, I doubt she would want it either. It's a tragedy, but he is a tiger. Tigers are dangerous. Tigers cannot be punished for being trapped in a cage, and then doing what tigers do. A lifetime in a cage is more than punishment enough.

We can't expect wild animals to change who they are. This is an incredible tragedy but I'm guessing the zoo keeper would want him to live.

He is a wild animal, he did nothing wrong. Extremely sad but true. We don't have the right to punish him for his natural instincts, it is a risk humans take when keeping wild animals in captivity.

Not the Tiger's fault. This is what happens when you try to contain & control an animal that should be in the Wild. The trainer would have been well aware of the risk.
