#1012016-02-06 09:24Because I believe people are putting convenience and money before the trees which have been there longer than the power wires. |

#1022016-02-06 09:28We need to retain these beautiful trees for future generations to enjoy. |

#1032016-02-06 09:40Because our council continues to make mistakes- 300 grand on Ferguson burger and still it changed nothing - so like allowing a commercial area on the BP roundabout, and now lights at Ballarat - will not allow traffic to flow .... So taking away the beautiful entrance for some cask needs discussion ! And at some point you need to have a public discussion n where we head as your ten year plan is based on a conference centre dead in the water and the planner involved - gone .... So please leave the bloody trees alone ! But he'll who would like being a council member - tough job ! |

#1042016-02-06 09:43Bury the power lines and save the trees. The trees were there first! |
Guest |
#1052016-02-06 09:52We pay enough for our rates so that the council can cover the costs of trimming the trees. |

#1062016-02-06 09:54These trees have been there for many years linning the main road into Queenstown, are an asset to the area, so should stay, the power lines are ugly & will look even worse if the trees are not there to hide them. Put them under ground, or on the other side of the road. |

#1072016-02-06 09:58Because I am a 'greenie' and am sick and horrified at the number of beautiful mature trees in this country which are destroyed for convenience. Shift the bloody lines or trim the trees so they no longer encroach on the lines. If this was done on a regular basis; no problem, but I guess then we get into costings. So much cheaper for local government just to cut them down!!!! |

#1082016-02-06 12:00Because I visit Queenstown often and believe the tree's create a special vista. |
Guest |
#1092016-02-06 15:24They are beautiful. To cut them down would ruin a beautiful stretch of landscape. Move the lines or top the trees but under no circumstances should they be cut down. |

#1102016-02-06 19:07I can't believe the council could be so so stupid as to even consider cutting down such stunning trees for no reason other than they may have to be trimmed because of power lines. Get real! Stop destroying precious nature that can not just be "built" again cos they are too lazy to work around them. And don't even pretend it has anything to do with saving money. DO NOT CUT DOWN THOSE TREES!!!! Luana Lyon and Regan Cross, Cromwell. |

#1122016-02-06 19:21Those trees provide a wonderful entrance to Queenstown. Too much of our heritage has been knocked down. Leave the trees alone. |
Guest |
#1132016-02-06 19:22Because that is a particularly beautiful entrance to a very famous tourist town. Those trees should be left and the lines moved. |

#1142016-02-06 19:43Growth is destroying what's important to a lot of us, move the lines or go under ground. The entrance to town is looking like many booming towns over developed and an eyesore it's not to late. |

#1152016-02-06 19:45I used to live in Queenstown and I think those trees are beautiful and worth saving for future generations as well as the environment. |

#1162016-02-06 19:58Another example of our shortsighted council. These trees are 50 years old, I imagine in less than 10 years the power lines will be underground. They would rather cut 50 year old trees down than maintain ONCE a year for the next ten! |

#1172016-02-06 20:02The trees are iconic ! They are mostly sweet chestnut and provide gastronomic delight to foragers .what sad enditement on our society that we are willing to sacrifice years of growth in those trees . |

#1192016-02-06 20:20These trees are a visual asset to the community and enhance an "avenue" type entrance. Delta planted their power lines too close to them. The council and delta need to remember we have a golden goose here and to try not to kill it! Take some ownership for their own "cock up" and trim them PROPERLY yearly or when needed at Deltas cost. |

#1212016-02-06 21:09These trees are part of the enjoyable experience of the approach to Queenstown and have become land marks. They should not be removed. |

#1232016-02-06 21:37The days of power companies destroying the environment for their convenience should be long gone, especially in a country that claims to be "pure" like NZ. If the lines are getting in the way of healthy growing trees that add beauty and character and charm to people's lives the solution is simple: move the power lines! |

#1242016-02-06 21:57They are beautiful trees. It would be sad to cut them down just because of power lines. Trim them or do something else. They took years to grow and to just cut them down as the easiest option is a criminal act in my eyes. Keep Queenstown beautiful. |

#1252016-02-06 21:59Trees take a generation to grow and five minutes to cut down. Power lines can be moved or buried. trees can ot. |
