#262016-02-05 07:19Let's keep some of the Wakatipu beautiful... It's not all about roads, roundabouts and subdivisions not to forget the new Mega Mitre signage ( how did that thing get through council????? ) ... Currently some of those trees act as a shelter belt along the main highway and maintain a cosmetic barrier as you enter Queenstown rather than the sea of houses now in Lake Hayes Estate subdivision.... I'm sure if we used the local contractors "Peak Power " not the Dunedin based contractors they would find a solution!!!! |

#272016-02-05 07:24Power lines should be placed underground in such a iconic scenic landscape. |

#282016-02-05 07:56I want to save the trees. The power lines have options, the trees do not. Think long term for once! |

#302016-02-05 08:21All the landmarks that welcome you to queenstown are getting removed the trees need pruned not cut down |

#312016-02-05 08:23There must be a better way to a compromise. Put the lines underground, why should people be punished when they are helping the landscape. |

#322016-02-05 08:32Bury the power lines, it's antiquated having them on poles. The year is 2016 not 1916 get with the program. |

#332016-02-05 08:39The trees are a beautiful entrance to Queenstown and should be preserved |

#362016-02-05 09:02Beautiful Trees that have been here forever - please don't remove them there has to be another solution! Such a better look with power lines underground! |

#372016-02-05 09:04I spend a lot of time with family at Lower Shotover and this tree lined section of the road is such an asset to the area when compared to all the development further on towards Frankton. This is an environmental issue and it would be criminal if the council did not maintain these trees. |

#392016-02-05 09:46During my time in Queenstown I have watched these trees mature over the last 30 years. They are a wonderful mix of beautiful trees that enhance the historic Ladies Mile and the entrance to the Wakatipu. Remember Lawrence!! |

#402016-02-05 09:50We signed because we believe these trees are an important amenity to the Queenstown district. They need to be preserved as a memorial to Bill Walker. |

#422016-02-05 11:22In simple terms no trees no energy, power companies can find other alternatives than putting trees down. |

#462016-02-05 15:12I was born and grew up in Queenstown and from my perspective here in the UK it is absolutely sacrilegious to even THINK of cutting down these trees. Such a beautiful welcome to the most beautiful places on earth. It's the power lines that should be cut down, not the trees. Underground cables are the way forward. Queenstown is one of the wonders of the world: people visit from all over the planet for its beauty, please don't scar this gorgeous approach to my favourite place on earth. |

#472016-02-05 15:43Instead of cutting down the trees down why not pollard them? I know where the trees are and it is tragic that they have to be chopped down. Think again please. |

#492016-02-05 19:25To preserve a beautiful avenue of trees in to a beautiful location. A row of mature trees is more pleasing to the eye than a row of power poles. I accept there is a cost implication but the planners need to consider all these incremental changes to the wakatipu basin before it loses its character forever. |

#502016-02-05 19:55These trees are beautiful and should be the responsibility of the council to preserve. As a Queenstown ratespayer I am most willing to pay my share. Have you considered felling the powerlines, they were there after the trees. |
