These trees form an important scenic entry to the Frankton/Queenstown urban areas. They were there before the power lines went in so the power company should have realised the possibility that they would grow into the lines. The lines should be moved or buried and the trees kept. If both the trees and the lines stay where they are then the trees need to be trimmed periodically in a professional manner. In the past, the un- professional trimming has left most of the trees with lop-sided hacked out chunks on the side nearest to the wires. The correct method would be to reduce the height of each tree over the entire canopy in a more balanced manner.

I whole heartedly agree that if Aurora moved the lines nearer the trees then it is not the land owner's problem. The lines must go underground.

Because energy companies ought to get up to speed technically, environmentally, and with the necessary regard for the intrinsic values and natural and aesthetic qualities of localities, regions and so on. These Trees are beautiful, adding to the stunningly landscape that is the entrance to Queeenstown. Not easy to replace trees like this. QLDC needs to consider what happens in windy Wellington which has many trees growing up through power lines with very little problem. Maybe a careful prune in future?and everyone can enjoy.

The bulk of the trees were in prior to the lines being erected so the lines company knew of a future problem. We value our Hawthorn hedges in the District Plan and yet would try to remove a beautiful avenue of mature trees! I am sure between Delta and the QLDC an ongoing cost compromise can be reached as the overall cost to the company and individual ratepayers is minuscule and highly desirous if we are to retain trees and rural aspects in our community.

We live here because of the beauty of this land, because of a respect for the land - otherwise we would love in a big city. Queenstown needs to evolve with regard to it's surrounds, not merely lining pockets, or else the charm that brought us here will be lost, and people won't want to live here anymore - think long term people.

We paid for lines to go underground with trees that were troublesome. Why can't the council have some input? Trees of this stature are priceless. With all the development going on it is so important to keep this heritage.

I have always admired those beautiful trees .To cut them out would be sacrilage. They make a great entrance to Queenstown.I was shocked when I read in the paper that they had to come down.Shift the powerlines instead.
