#1772016-02-08 01:54Environmentally they are an asset, and visually. Energy companies need to clean up their act and get up to date! |

#1782016-02-08 02:13These trees create a beautiful, balanced corridor along Ladies Mile. Bite the bullet Delta. Underground your unaesthetic power lines!!! |

#1792016-02-08 02:46These trees form an important scenic entry to the Frankton/Queenstown urban areas. They were there before the power lines went in so the power company should have realised the possibility that they would grow into the lines. The lines should be moved or buried and the trees kept. If both the trees and the lines stay where they are then the trees need to be trimmed periodically in a professional manner. In the past, the un- professional trimming has left most of the trees with lop-sided hacked out chunks on the side nearest to the wires. The correct method would be to reduce the height of each tree over the entire canopy in a more balanced manner. |

#1812016-02-08 04:14I whole heartedly agree that if Aurora moved the lines nearer the trees then it is not the land owner's problem. The lines must go underground. |

#1822016-02-08 04:21Beautiful trees that have taken years to grow.Put the ugly power lines underground, where they should be. |

#1832016-02-08 04:53Because the trees enhance in all manner of ways. Because energy companies ought to get up to speed technically, environmentally, and with the necessary regard for the intrinsic values and natural and aesthetic qualities of localities, regions and so on. Natural values and nature itself have to be at the heart of what we refer to when we speak of communities. |

#1842016-02-08 05:17These Trees are beautiful, adding to the stunningly landscape that is the entrance to Queeenstown. Not easy to replace trees like this. QLDC needs to consider what happens in windy Wellington which has many trees growing up through power lines with very little problem. Maybe a careful prune in future?and everyone can enjoy. |

#1862016-02-08 06:13The bulk of the trees were in prior to the lines being erected so the lines company knew of a future problem. We value our Hawthorn hedges in the District Plan and yet would try to remove a beautiful avenue of mature trees! I am sure between Delta and the QLDC an ongoing cost compromise can be reached as the overall cost to the company and individual ratepayers is minuscule and highly desirous if we are to retain trees and rural aspects in our community. |

#1872016-02-08 06:16To let the Council know our feelings -the trees were there first so why should the land owners bear the cost of trimming. |

#1882016-02-08 06:47These trees provide a scenic entrance to Queenstown and have taken years to grow . The lines were put close to them later . Forward thinking was required . Put lines underground or elsewhere .A thing of beauty is a joy forever . |

#1902016-02-08 06:54because the same thing happened to me, except Transit considered them a hazard and they weren't! I love to see trees, they make our country even more beautiful and we want our tourists to see them not endless highway |

#1912016-02-08 06:57Why destroy the beauty of the trees as visitors drive towards Queenstown |

#1922016-02-08 07:06We live here because of the beauty of this land, because of a respect for the land - otherwise we would love in a big city. Queenstown needs to evolve with regard to it's surrounds, not merely lining pockets, or else the charm that brought us here will be lost, and people won't want to live here anymore - think long term people. |

#1932016-02-08 07:20These are beautiful specimen trees. They should be given council protection so future generations can enjoy them removing them is cultural vandalism |

#1962016-02-08 08:22We are but caretakers of this land. Why do we continue to destroy it? |

#1972016-02-08 08:49We paid for lines to go underground with trees that were troublesome. Why can't the council have some input? Trees of this stature are priceless. With all the development going on it is so important to keep this heritage. |

#1992016-02-08 09:01Delta are very selfish and single minded. They want the cheapest solution for themselves even though they arrived last!! |

#2002016-02-08 09:05I have always admired those beautiful trees .To cut them out would be sacrilage. They make a great entrance to Queenstown.I was shocked when I read in the paper that they had to come down.Shift the powerlines instead. |
