I'm signing because this is disgusting to put this animal down for protecting himself and his owners from an intruder why do all the criminals get let off and these loyal loving animals killed just so wrong let him go home to his family.

(Nyah, 2017-09-12)

#2203

The intruder entered his domain. He was protecting his family.

(Laidley , 2017-09-12)

#2204

I think if any dog was in the same position they would protect there family.

(Mellbourne , 2017-09-12)

#2205

Its not right to kill a dog for protecting its own yard

(Brisbane, 2017-09-12)

#2206

A dog protecting his family from an intruder during the night is not in the wrong. Fine the guy that was trespassing and tell him to wake up to himself.

(Emerald , 2017-09-12)

#2207

The dog was protecting the property and family (his pack) from a person who had no right being there..... put that person down instead as not a contributing member of society obviously

(Townsville , 2017-09-12)

#2209

Dogs are beautiful, and if you come into there territory except something to happen! :)
He's a gorgeous dog let him live.

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2210

This decicision by the council is ridiculous. Where has common sense gone?

(Townsville , 2017-09-12)

#2220

I think this is a disgusting misuse of power and sooo lacks insight and justice. Why have a dog to protect your home at all? Why does the perpetrator have ALL THE RIGHTS?
SHAME, SHAME, SHAME.

(Sarina, 2017-09-12)

#2223

This beautiful animal was protecting his property and family, its unfair that an animal should be destroyed for doing what is a natural instinct whilst an intruder tried to break in!

(BONGAREE, 2017-09-12)

#2224

Winston was protecting his family from an intruder, what an amazing boy.. he does not deserve to die

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2225

A person has the right to train a dog to defend their property and if someone gains illegal access to that property than the dog cannot be blamed for doing what it has been trained to do. The person or persons who gained illegal entry to the property in the first instance should be prosecuted not the law abiding citizen and dog who was doing the right thing.

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2226

I'm signing because i believe that if an intruder takes the risk of entering a property that has a dog, that's their fault not the dogs. Wunston was doing what he was supposed to do and that was to protect his family. ..who knows what would've happened if that intruder had made it inside the house. ..come on Mackay council, have a heart and return him to his family!

(Hervey bay, 2017-09-12)

#2228

All owners have a right to protect themselves on their own properties!
If you have a guard dog, bark to warn, then bite to protect, that is their job!
What else are they going to do, negotiate using their words?

(Andergrove, 2017-09-12)

#2229

Gee he looks so dangerous in the photo with the kids, poor dog was only doing his job and my dogs would have done exactly the same.

(Rockhampton, 2017-09-12)

#2231

People should have the right to be safe in their own home. The dog was doing his job. Given the amount of break ins and thefts going on in Mackay, it is disgraceful to take away a family's protection.

(Mackay , 2017-09-12)

#2232

A dogs job is to protect there home !! It was the intruders fault not the dogs!!!!

(Rockhampton, 2017-09-12)

#2233

No need to put a dog down for doing his job. No body should be able to enter a yard unless they are invited in.

(Brassall, 2017-09-12)

#2237

This nonsense has to stop, thieves and intruders have no rights over a families security

(Ipswich, 2017-09-12)

#2240

The dog was doing its job at protecting the family in their home. Common sense will tell that a dog can sense danger.

(MACKAY, 2017-09-12)

#2242

This dog was doing his job protecting his owners property. As regards seizing Winton or any other dog without proof is absorbed our laws are based on evidence. Whether it's a criminal offence proof has to be beyond reasonable doubt or in civil matters the balance of probabilities. A review of byelaws needs to be done and Winston released.

(Townsville, 2017-09-12)

#2243

The dog was protecting its yard. Dogs are a gift in life

(Rockhampton , 2017-09-12)

#2246

this is just wrong. Dog protecting his family and gets death for it!!! Shame Mackay Council. Get a heart.!!

(mareeba, 2017-09-12)

#2247

The dog was protecting his family. Put down the ******* human that was in the dogs yard!

(Melbourne, 2017-09-12)

#2248

This dog was protecting his owners, it is wrong to kill him.

(MORAYFIELD 4506 QLD, 2017-09-12)

#2249

He should not be put down because he was doing it job to protect the property

(Brisbane, 2017-09-12)

#2251

The dog was protecting his home. Do something about the disgusting youth the think they can take what they want and get away with it.

(Macaky, 2017-09-12)

#2257

The dog was defending his home and shouldnt be punished

(adelaide, 2017-09-12)

#2259

I am signing this because this is completely wrong... most people buy a dog to protect their home and thats exactly what this dog was doing. . Its job, of protecting the home

(Townsville , 2017-09-12)

#2260

We get dogs. As pets to protect our loved ones from harm, due to ignorant individuals that think its alright to commit crimes. Some people live in fear of being the next target or being targeted again. If investing into an animal, allowing them to protect their loved ones from harm resulted in the death of them, what message are we as a community saying to criminals? The laws are here to protect you, while you go about committing crimes right? We talk of wanting to live in a safer environment, people wake up this is your safe environment, just because its not happening to you right now doesn't mean it won't. Some may say leave it to the police, the police are not baby sitters, what are you doing to assist your community with matters as these? Please sign the petition and show you care. The dog, used its limited reasoning to protect its owners (even bitting someone entering their property in the middle of the night), the intruder (human) on the other hand, used his/her reasoning ability to commit a crime.

(Townsville, 2017-09-12)

#2261

Authorities stop being grubby heartless shitbox's

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2262

Stop killing innocent pets who are only doing their job of protecting their human family members. If someone enters a property where dogs are kept then they deserve to get bit, serves you right for trespassing. Stay out of peoples yards 'SIMPLE'.

(Blackwater, 2017-09-12)

#2263

He was protecting his territory why should he be put down for biting a scum bag

(Highfields , 2017-09-12)

#2264

someone is on my property at midnight, that is why we have dogs, this is crap

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2267

This is so wrong.

(Townsville , 2017-09-12)

#2277

Why punish the dog for protecting his property? He was doing his job, not out wandering the streets or attacking innocent people! Just protecting his family and his house! Let Winston go back to his family and maybe people will learn to stay off other people's property!

(Blackwater, 2017-09-12)

#2283

Is the dick that walked into your yard uninvited being charged with trespassing????...Winston was doing his job, protecting his family....good boy

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2287

why has,t the intruder been charged ? to much of this going on in the andergrove area , leave the dog alone, how the hell can the council do this?

(andergrove / mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2291

So sick of reading about this kind of stuff. Dirty crims intruding on someone's property and the dog doing what one of the things it's been put in the yard to do. Good luck guys

(Townsville , 2017-09-12)

#2292

This is a joke. If your dog is safely locked up in your yard and someone a stranger enters or encounters your dog it's there choice and they suffer the concequences.
Any idiot knows dogs in there yard are protective as they should be

(Hervey bay, 2017-09-12)

#2295

Winston did his job, protected his family from a criminal.

(MACKAY, 2017-09-12)

#2300

I am an animal lover. Put down the thieving scummy arsehole who was ALLEGEDLY bitten instead. Weeks that laws there days only protected tha*****wits in society.

(Townsville , 2017-09-12)

#2301

The dog was protecting it's own property and family and the intruder was in the wrong. Stop penilising the innocent.

(Parkes, 2017-09-12)

#2304

This breaks my heart, pets are family.

(Cairns, 2017-09-12)

#2307

The dog was protecting his family and home.... the intruder entered this property with intent and was most certainly not invited..... this is disgusting, appalling and wrong, so very very wrong....

(Bonbeach , 2017-09-12)

#2308

The dog was just doing his job

(Eton, 2017-09-12)

#2309

Winston and other dogs like him deserve a chance to find a loving and responsible home

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2316

Mackay city council are grubs!! You can't take family dog away and threaten to kill him without proof!! The person that made the complaint was trespassing! Winston doesn't deserve to be killed.

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2317

The dog should not be punished for protecting its household.

(Kenmore, 2017-09-12)

#2319

The dog was doing it's job. The Nanny State is growing..................

(Brisbane, 2017-09-12)

#2321

if the intruder was doing the right thing and NOT entering someone else's property illegally, then this alleged situation would not have happened
Common sense needs to prevail and hopefully the council has some!!!

(Cairns, 2017-09-12)

#2322

He was only protecting his family & home

(Geelong , 2017-09-12)

#2324

I'm sorry but this is ridiculous! Look at the dog there with the kids! It was protecting it's family?! Most of our dogs would do the same!
Shame on you Mackay council!!! Look into this situation properly. Talk to that silly neighbour, are they aware the dog was protecting?
This absolutely disgusts me.

(Townsville, 2017-09-12)

#2325

Because this is so unfair. $1500 what a joke shame on the council

(Mackay , 2017-09-12)

#2327

This is ridiculous. This dog needs a medal not put down. What a stupid thing to do. Don't kill him. Please.

(Townsville , 2017-09-12)

#2329

I'm signing this because I believe this dog shouldn't be put down due to protecting his property and his owner!

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2333

I believe the local council to be inept, greedy and have not investigated this incident in good faith. If they say the dog was wandering then why was the and I use the word loosely 'jogger' bitten under the garage (which is on the property) and not on the road where you think you would find him? I don not trust politicans, they all lie at some point and our local council is no different.

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2334

Winston did nothing wrong he was protecting his OWN property and family.

(Proserpine , 2017-09-12)

#2337

A dog should not be put down because he was doing his job protecting his family!

(Townsville , 2017-09-12)

#2338

The dog was in his yard
Councils don't have the right to put dogs down . I got attacked while walking my dog in the street.
The owner left the gate open.
There were five dogs.
The councils didn't destroy them why should this dog get put down

(Ayr, 2017-09-12)

#2339

if someone enters a property uninvited its a persons right to defend their property if the defence occurs as in a dog bite so be it......

(bundaberg, 2017-09-12)

#2345

The dog was protecting his family. Why penalize the dog for the stupid behavior of the person breaking-in?

(Townsville, 2017-09-12)

#2350

No animal deserves to be put Down because the were protecting their home and their family it's in the nature to protect their pack and their territory you will just be putting a dog down for being a dog.

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2351

I want the laws to change and this innocent animal to be freed!

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2352

The law states that if you or your pet are threatened by any persons or other animals - that your pet is well within it's rights to protect you and itself.
To seize a dog for defending itself and owners on their own property is unjust and cruel.
Return this good family dog immediately.

(Shute Harbour , 2017-09-12)

#2355

The dog was doing his job and I could not care less if the intruder was bitten.

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2358

He was just protecting his family!!!!!!!!!!

(Idalia , 2017-09-12)

#2359

Every dog deserves a chance and the true story needs to be heard

(Mount pleasant , 2017-09-12)

#2362

I'm signing because Winston done hat any dog would do to an intruder of any home, protect his family. What was he supposed to do stand there and hold the door open for them, what council is doing is extremely wrong.

(Maryborough, 2017-09-12)

#2363

He was protecting his family. No dog should be put down for that. He is part of their family. You don't kill part of somebody's family.

(Esk, 2017-09-12)

#2364

This dog had every right to live. He was protecting his property and owners.

(Gladstone , 2017-09-12)

#2366

I'm signing this because a trespassing person should not have more rights than someone defending their home.

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2368

Middle of the night. Dog just doing its job. This bloke was hardly knocking on the front door of the house. Warning perhaps, but not death for the dog. Signs on the gates to the yard - there are other ways to solve this.

(Apple Tree Creek, 2017-09-12)

#2369

Ridiculous..... no proof = no fine, aside from the fact this dog was in his OWN yard, protecting his family from what could have been a gravely dangerous situation, the council should be ashamed of their actions and drop all charges.

(Qld, 2017-09-12)

#2372

If an intruder comes into our yard uninvited without our knowledge and through a locked gate, they are certainly not up to any good and could endanger the life danger to myself and family. I would expect my animals to protect our domain also.

(Mackay , 2017-09-12)

#2380

This is absolutely ridiculous. This poor dog was only trying to protect his family from being potentially killed or serverly injured.

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2383

Give the dog back

(Gladstone, 2017-09-12)

#2384

It is bulshit, he is a family dog, he was protecting his family and doing his job, This is happening all to much, and not just in Mackay.

(Middlemount , 2017-09-12)

#2385

It is wrong of the council to just presume. Thinking of those kids that love their family pet. So wrong on all levels

(Allingham, 2017-09-12)

#2387

I'm signing because Winston was just doing his job and this is unfair.

(Mackay, 2017-09-12)

#2389

The human should be put down for breaking into winstons home. He was defending his family and his property. Free the dog punish the man who trespassed.

(Paynesville , 2017-09-12)

#2393

You and your dog have a right to protect your property

(Caurns, 2017-09-12)

#2394

This should be a no brainer. Common sense really. Innocent until proven guilty. There is no proof.

(Bundaberg, 2017-09-12)

#2396

This dog was protecting his family and property and someone illegally entered that property and could've hurt the family and he was lucky he only got a dog bail him up ,teach him a lesson !

(Vic, 2017-09-12)

#2397

Supporting justice
