The person entering the yard was the problem not the dog. He was just protecting his family and home. He shouldn't have to pay for a humans mistake

(Redcliffe, 2017-09-14)

#7804

The council is wrong.

(Hervey bay , 2017-09-14)

#7805

The more people I meet the more I love my dog

(geelong, 2017-09-14)

#7807

Get an animal behaviourist to explain the behaviours of a dog in situations like this.

(Brisbane, 2017-09-14)

#7811

winston deserves to live with his family

(brisbane, 2017-09-14)

#7813

He was protecting his family and territory
That's what dogs do

The intruder deserved it

(Cooranbong NSW, 2017-09-14)

#7814

This is a disgrace. If you are not allowed to have your animal protect your home, which is their natural instinct then the laws need to change.

(Berserker, 2017-09-14)

#7815

Winston should be getting a medal for doing his job

(gosford, 2017-09-14)

#7816

Any dog defending his territory should not be classed a dangerous dog. Provocation needs to be taken into account in each case. Did the person kick the dog, is the person trespassing etc

(Narara, 2017-09-14)

#7817

Person shouldn't've been intruding!! Poor dog :(

(Gwandalan, 2017-09-14)

#7820

This dog was just protecting his property in the middle of the night to an intruder.

(Melbourne, 2017-09-14)

#7821

No dog should be seized or put down for protecting their family especially on private property, it is what we have trained dogs to do for centuries and is also in a dogs natural instinct to protect the pack/family. Why should someone who is breaking the law by trespassing and breaking in to someones home have more rights then a memeber of the family who reside there protecting it's family, if the owner/occupant of the property came out and gave the person a touch up nothing more would come of it as the intruder probably wouldn't say anything. As for not providing proof that the dog actually bite the person is an absolute joke council is opening themselves up to be sued.

(Brisbane, 2017-09-14)

#7822

This is not a reason to put animal to sleep

(Dunolly , 2017-09-14)

#7823

The dog was not in the wrong.

(Borung, 2017-09-14)

#7824

Dogs protect their families that's what they are supposed to do, who knows what that intruder was planning.. he is a good dog should get a medal not be punished....

(Agnes Water QLD 4677, 2017-09-14)

#7825

He was in his own back yard and all he did was protect his family. The law is wrong. Free the dog hes the victim here. Jail the intruder...

(BRISBANE , 2017-09-14)

#7827

I have a dog that is also brave and protects his human family.

(Sydney, 2017-09-14)

#7829

What is the world coming to - have we all gone mad.........see sense and send this poor dog home to his family!!!

(Tanawha , 2017-09-14)

#7830

Councils are*****ed on dog control

(Brisbane, 2017-09-14)

#7831

The dog was doing his job protecting his family and home. He would be under enormous stress right now for doing nothing wrong. Please return him to his family

(Thomastown, 2017-09-14)

#7835

It is stupid.

(bucasia, 2017-09-14)

#7838

the dog was doing his job

(Mackay, 2017-09-14)

#7842

Person enters a property in lawfully deserves what he or she gets up to fatal injuries, not your property you have no right to be there

(Mansfield, 2017-09-14)

#7844

you have a dog to protect you, simple as that

(mildura, 2017-09-14)

#7845

No one should be entering a strangers yard at night. A dog is necessary to guard private premises because of all the criminal activities being reported . We should all be able to sleep well at night with ba good watch dog doing his job of protecting

(Rubyvale, 2017-09-14)

#7850

i believe this dog protected his family ..
thats why we have them for love protection and loyality ..
FREE WINSTON

(wangaratta, 2017-09-14)

#7852

A dog defending its property is its job, if this law is so easily adopted what chance to people have in places like Victoria at the moment with the amount of home invasions at the moment people need protection. SAVE WINSTON!!!!!

(Meandarra , 2017-09-14)

#7853

This is a dog not a person it only knows what a dog knows.
HIS house, HIS family, HIS territory and by being loyal to his master he protected the property that is his. How dare the council come and take him with no proof other than word of mouth anyway. This is sooo wrong

(Beresfield , 2017-09-14)

#7854

This is so wrong.

(Caloundra, 2017-09-14)

#7855

For heaven sake...leave this dog alone!!!!!!!

(Tinbeerwah, 2017-09-14)

#7858

That is so wrong that a poor dog has to pay the awful consequence for just trying to protect his OWN home.

(Sunshine Coast , 2017-09-14)

#7859

It is morally wrong to kill this dog

(Kiama, 2017-09-14)

#7861

We keep dogs to protect our family and possession s. HANDS OFF COUNCIL.

(BLACK RIVER Townsville , 2017-09-14)

#7862

No dog should be euthanised for protecting their own property from interlopers

(Geraldton, 2017-09-14)

#7863

The dog was only doing his job Bloke shouldn't have been in the yard

(Logan, 2017-09-14)

#7866

that indruder had no right sneaking around in other peoples property in the middle of the night

(Long Gully, 2017-09-14)

#7868

This dog was in its own yard the intruder was breaking the law. This council needs to uphold the law not agreeing with this criminal

(Cairns, 2017-09-14)

#7871

Absolute BS. This person entered this property in the middle of the night with who knows what intention. Winston was defending his family. He does not deserve to be labelled a dangerous dog let alone face euthanasia.

Pull your head in Mackay City Council

(Mackay, 2017-09-14)

#7875

I love dogs, and this is unfair for Winston?

(Gosford , 2017-09-14)

#7877

This dog doesn't deserve to die for protecting his back yard

(Gympie, 2017-09-14)

#7879

I signed it because the dog was only doing his job protecting his property look at the pictures of him hes playing with the kids hes not a dangerous dog bloody hell hes a family pet "A family member"

(Brisbane , 2017-09-14)

#7881

The dog was protecting his owner & there is no proof that states otherwise. If an intruder was to come onto my place with any sort of threat I would expect my dog to protect our family also.

(Balnagowan , 2017-09-14)

#7883

We have the right to protect our families and property.. if he's there illegally and uninvited then he cops what he gets.. I'm not going to stop an intruder and ask them their intentions... your already in my home so your intentions are pretty clear!. I'd do whatever I had to, to protect my family.. that dog is a hero.. and you are victimising this family unnecessarily

(San remo 2262, 2017-09-14)

#7884

A dog job is to protect. It should not be harmed or declared dangerous because someone else came into its space.

(Mackay , 2017-09-14)

#7885

My son has a staffy cross kelpie who is so loving. All he wants is cuddles but he will protect us if he feels we are being threatened. That person was breaking the law by entering the man's property. He is in the wrong.

(Grafton, 2017-09-14)

#7886

Cause right is right

(Strathfield, 2017-09-14)

#7887

No dog should be put down for doing its job! This is a complete joke.

(Petrie, 2017-09-14)

#7888

It was in fear of its own safety & that of its family. Justified defence.

(Wollongbar, 2017-09-14)

#7889

Im signing because winston was only doing his job as a dog and protecting his house and his family.

(gold coast, 2017-09-14)

#7890

The dog was only trying to protect the family and there should be proof that he actually bit someone anyway, He does not deserve to die!!

(Barrine, 2017-09-14)

#7891

Councils should not have the right to condemn a pet to death if the incident happens on private property. Naturally there is a duty of care on the owners shoulders but, an intruder in the night (or day) should have zero rights. There was a time that intruders were in fact charged as criminals....

(Jensen, 2017-09-14)

#7893

I have 4 beautiful big boys, it is their job to keep intruders and unwelcomes out of my property, the idea that someone can make a statement, with no proof - whilst trespassing, that could cause the murder of one of my dogs is frightening. good luck, I hope you win

(Mackay, Qld, 2017-09-14)

#7894

If a man can't protect his home and family from crims and his best friend does and ends up on death row I think the dog deserves a medal and not be treated like a mad rabbied animal ,if you council beurocats have an ounce of decency you will let this family friend go home

(palm cove , 2017-09-14)

#7897

Because I have pets. A dog is a security to protect against trespassing. The owner needs at least an opportunity to defend his case. Mackay pound and Mackay council have no right to kill a pet without proof the animal is a danger to the public.

(Mackay, 2017-09-14)

#7898

He was doing his job Looking after the family Not right to put down

(Deloraine, 2017-09-14)

#7899

Winston was protecting his family and home and doesn't deserve to die.

(Rockhampton, 2017-09-14)

#7900

I own a dog and so does my daughter. We would both be devastated if our pets were in this situation through no fault of themselves by protecting their owner's property or feeling threatened by an intruder.

(Wantirna South , 2017-09-14)

#7901

The dog was protecting his family why should he be put down

(Spencer, 2017-09-14)

#7904

The dog was doing his duty protecting his family from intruders who trespassed in the middle of the night. Getting rid of the dog makes it easier for the intruders next time. Do not help bad people do the wrong thing Council. Free Winston!

(Broadbeach Waters, 2017-09-14)

#7906

(Sydney, 2017-09-14)

#7907

The dog was protecting his yard how he could, as any human would.

(Howard, 2017-09-14)

#7908

If a dog does what it is supposed too and protects from invaders and illegal entry then it should get a medal NOT A DEATH SENTENCE.. this dog did what it was supposed too, PROTECT ITS FAMILY IF anyone needs putting down it's the INTRUDER...

(Cairns, 2017-09-14)

#7911

He was protecting his owner and property the person he bit got what he deserved. Leave the dog alone

(Orange, 2017-09-14)

#7912

Execution without proof of wrongdoing - What country is this ????? .. I am very angry

(GLEN IRIS, 2017-09-14)

#7913

Winston was only doing his job. Protecting his home. He should not be the one on death row here.

(Morayfield, 2017-09-14)

#7915

I believe in protecting your property. Dogs are there for a reason.

(Maryborough, 2017-09-14)

#7916

The dog was doing his job and protecting its family. It's funny how a person can get a slap on the wrist for beating there baby, but a dog in its own yard will lose its life for protecting its family.

(Coomera, 2017-09-14)

#7917

This is rubbish.. the dog was just protecting his yard. You can't kill them for whats genetically imprinted into them... it's what they do.. they're loving animals that just want to protect their families..

(Biloela , 2017-09-14)

#7920

I'm sick of innocent animals being let down by an unfair system. The complaint has no proof this incedent happened, where's the so called intruder with there bite mark.

(Maleny, 2017-09-14)

#7921

This needs to be resolved now. Common sense should prevail.

(Dandenong North , 2017-09-14)

#7922

(Castlemaine , 2017-09-14)

#7926

It's murder and its unnecessary

(Perth, 2017-09-14)

#7930

This is wrong!

(Metford, 2017-09-14)

#7931

the right to defend our home is written into our constitution, the intruder should not have been there.
If it had been a child that bit the intruder would the council have seized the child and wanted it destroyed? our animals are family and are defending and protecting their family.

(port macquarie, 2017-09-14)

#7934

It is terrible he was protecting his family and doing his job from scum bags trying to steal things you worked hard for hope my dogs do the same our government is stuffed protects the wrong people

(Perth , 2017-09-14)

#7936

He was protecting his family

(Blavktown, 2017-09-14)

#7938

No dog should be put down for protecting there owners home or the people that live on that said property...they r our best friends when taking into a humans care...please don't kill Winston...he deserves to live...let him live

(Blackwater Qld, 2017-09-14)

#7940

We have to stop protecting criminals, and stop giving them more rights than the victims. How dare the intruder complain!

(Melbourne, 2017-09-14)

#7941

Winston was defending his family

(City Beach, 2017-09-14)

#7942

I do not agree that any council should have the right to destroy a dog that is in it's own property defending it's territory and owners.

(Sunshine Coast , 2017-09-14)

#7945

Dogs shouldn't be punished for looking after their human family!

(Darwin, 2017-09-14)

#7946

I've seen this happen to other loyal pets

(Point Arkwright , 2017-09-14)

#7947

This is wrong dog should be let go

(Mackay, 2017-09-14)

#7949

the intruder should be the one being put down

(sydney, 2017-09-14)

#7950

It is the right thing to do.

(Eugowra, 2017-09-14)

#7953

The dog was only protecting his family against people like the one he bit. Hope he wasn't poisoned by the intruder.

(Flinders View 4305, 2017-09-14)

#7954

Please do not distroy this animal or family

(Mt Pleassnt, 2017-09-14)

#7955

The dog was doing its job!!!! Protecting his house and his family. That's is what dog do, Give the dog a bone and send him home. Good boy winston!!!

(Gracemere , 2017-09-14)

#7957

No need at all to kill this family pet or bring such sorrow to its committed family. Do the right thing council, show compassion. Show that the council can take matters on individual cases & not always come to the kill end just because,

(Mt Pleasant, 2017-09-15)

#7960

Why don't you put down the intruder!

(Adelaide, 2017-09-15)

#7961

He is obviously a friendly pet just protecting his families property. No dog should be put down under these circumstances.

(Wonthaggi Vic, 2017-09-15)

#7962

This is just disgusting human behaviour. This gorgeous dog was protecting his house, that is what a dog is suppost 2 do. The dog deserves huge hug and kisses 4 being such a good dog ..

(Umina, 2017-09-15)

#7963

The dog's owner has kept it within the confines of its own yard. An intruder on private property is guilty of trespass and should be charged as such. If the dog had bitten a visitor to the home then that would be a different story. It is sad that our laws today excuse the perpetrators of crime and blame the victims. How can Mackay Council say they don't have to supply any proof? Surely all crimes need to be proven?

(Brisbane, 2017-09-15)

#7964

Because the council is complete scum how can they murder a dog for doing its job. FTS

(Gold Coast , 2017-09-15)

#7968

the dog was doing his job,Protectng his family

(lake macquarie, 2017-09-15)

#7970

PROTECTING HIS HOUSE THE DOG IS DONE NOTHING WRONG PLEASE DON'T KILL HIM

(NEWCASTLE, 2017-09-15)

#7971

Because I am so sick of hearing that criminals have rights, if this" intruder" hadn't broken in and broken the law then Winston would not have had to protect his family and bite the bastard

(Bendigo, 2017-09-15)

#7973

You CANNOT kill a family pet for protecting its home. Animals are territorial by nature. ANY Person would protect family and property from an intruder! Absolutely disgusting that this council has done this...they are power hungry idiots!

(Adelaide, 2017-09-15)

#7974

Intruders and criminals seem to have more rights then the average person these days. Most People have dogs to alert them to anyone on their property. How is it fair to punish a dog for doing what it is expected do. Let the go and bust the intruder!!!

(Townsville, 2017-09-15)

#7977

The intruder should be on death row...the dog is the victim in this & it is another instance of bureaucratic idiots making the wrong decision

(Rosebud, 2017-09-15)

#7983

This is ludicrous. This dog was doing his job.

(Elimbah, 2017-09-15)

#7987

Because the dog was doing its job and anyone intruding on someone else's property in the middle of the night deserves a dog bite. Be sensible, Council and release this dog.

(Brisbane , 2017-09-15)

#7989

Sometimes death is not the answer

(Perth, 2017-09-15)

#7992

If it was an intruder, Winston was just doing his doggie job, maybe put the intruder down instead

(Harvey, 2017-09-15)

#7993

The person/ people in the council who dictate this law and allow this Dog to be killed should hang their head in shame! Where did your common sense go!!! Have a good look at yourselves!!

(Moura, 2017-09-15)

#7995

Everyone has the right top protect their property.
The dog was only doing its job and being loyal to its owner.
