The world has gone mad!

Nicole Allen (Rowville , 2024-02-10)

I object to my history after 10 years of parkrun being deleted without my consent. I always looked forward to the challenge of moving up in the rankings. This has been taken away from me.

Rick Rozenblatt (Logan Village , 2024-02-10)

I will miss seeing how well people go every week. I love seeing how fast people can go and how old they are.

Tee Jackson (Caboolture , 2024-02-10)

I like having age grade records. It motivates me. Park run is for everyone and everyone has their reasons for doing a parkrun. Whether it’s the social aspect, walking and enjoying a conversation with friends or trying to get a record. Everyone has different reasons. I enjoy checking my age group to see where I sit. To take this away is taking away part of my park run fun.

Claire Beck (Melbourne , 2024-02-10)

I believe the stats are a motivating part of parkrun rather than off putting. I am sad to see them go.

Maggie Lane (Newcastle, 2024-02-10)

Deleting all the records is a cop-out, and doesn't solve anything

Andrew McLeod (Burlada , 2024-02-10)

#432

The best runners (of which I am definitely not) deserve their records.
Not everyone can afford to enter multiple events each year, so parkrun is their way of pushing themselves to get better.

Tina Muir (Tapping, 2024-02-10)

I want to see records and stats returned to parkrun.

Nicole Frykberg (St Ives Chase, 2024-02-10)

#436

While I’m a mid pack runner I don’t begrudge anyone who runs to records or fast. To not provide a time for males under 17 mins and females under 20 mins is not in line with inclusion.

I'm signing because I don't want parkrun to be diminished. We should be celebrating the wonderful diversity of ALL the people at parkrun: slow and fast, old and young.

I am in my 60s, and only started doing a bit of jogging 10 years ago. I'm not fast but now I generally complete the whole 5km without stopping. And I'm proud of that, and I like to look at ALL my stats. And I like to look at how fast some people run too - it's amazing! And I like to see what other people my age are achieving - it inspires me.

Stats aren't what stops a person doing parkrun. You do all of us an injustice by claiming such rubbish - where's the evidence to back up your claim.

Stop trying to whitewash parkrun and reduce it to the lowest common denominator.

Reverse your feeble decision and allow people to continue to see age gradings, fast times, slow times, age groups - the whole shebang.

The reasons given to hide these stats are rediculous

Ron Schwebel (Beacon Hill , 2024-02-10)

#456

This decision is very poorly thought out and you have punished everyone else by caving to a couple of crazy transphobes. Bring back the stats!

Andrew Wilcockson (Brisbane, 2024-02-10)

#457

I'm signing because I am i total agreement with the author of the petition. Today I was lucky to set a new record of a parkrun location in my age cathegory and I disagree it must be kept hidden.

Andrzej Pilski (Frombork, 2024-02-10)

Not a thought out policy. You haven’t surveyed parkrun events or any of your members but have instead pushed a policy and instructed/forced parkrun events to support said policy. Majority of your events/members do not support your new changes. A simple solution would have been to give the option for members to opt in or opt out of particular statistics which will ultimately cater for all. Survey all members and get their input to these new changes.

Liam Adams (Melbourne, 2024-02-10)

Parkrun is the place for all physically active people. Very fast runners, fast runners, slow runners, very slow runners, Nordic walkers and walkers are all welcome. Each of these groups should find a place here. Parkrun is a competition. Parkrun is a social event. Parkrun is an event where you can walk with a pushchair. And neither of these groups should be excluded. The current changes are to exclude ambitious people for whom running fast is important, in favour of people who.... have never participated in parkrun. This is a shame.

I do not agree with the decisions made by HQ , the latest changes came with zero consultation and as ambassadors we have Bourne the brunt of many an angry parkrunner , I have to say my confidence in the board has diminished to the point of being involved in parkrun for 12 years that I have had enough backing up the crap decisions being made by HQ, changing to satisfy the minority of 0.00001 % rather than consulting the masses , really really disappointed.

Don't change what already works!

Janine Graham (Sandhurst, 2024-02-10)

This is unfair. To isolate and exclude a group is wrong. It’s not inclusive. It’s wrong

Sara Obrien (Zilzie, 2024-02-10)

#473

I disagree with the decision. I’m a slow runner but love the stats. It’s about competing with yourself and improving. I don’t understand how this would deter people from running or walking at park run.

Patsy Law (Hobart, 2024-02-10)

It’s ridiculous that the info has been taken away!

Cindy King (Edithvale, 2024-02-10)

Parkrun performance data motivates myself and many others. On each person’s journey to better their best, performance data allows us to aim high and reach for goal that we otherwise wouldn’t.

Sick of the woke brigade taking from everyday people trying to be the best they can be.

Lee Roberts (Caboolture , 2024-02-10)

Do not agree with the decision to axe age grade records & course records. Most of these people are your loyal supporters & will be to the end. The ones who find the record intimidating will not even look at the results or give parkrun up within a month.

Danielle Hart (Wangi Wangi, 2024-02-10)

#504

I enjoy seeing the performances of all people.

Matt Blundell (Sydney , 2024-02-10)

Parkrun has abruptly and without prior warning removed valuable performance data from its websites. Its removal was effected without consultation or proper explanation. Participants who are interested in seeing this data have been able to do so for many years. The data allows comparison between participants in each age group across Australia and encourages goal-setting and the striving for improvement, particularly for older participants or those new to running. It should be possible to introduce a system whereby people can opt in to see such data, but leaving only the bare event results as the default setting.gmxt

I agree that it is ridiculous to remove this data from view. If you don't want to see it, don't look !!

1. I am in the 70+ age group and am often the only participant in that age group at my local Parkrun. Hence, other 70+ participants in other parts of Australia are part of my community. Suddenly, they are no more.
2. The age-group percentage gives me a goal, especially as I age, attempting to retain the percentage (even if the times are slower)
3. There was no consultation. Hardly a "community" relationship.
4. There is no reason for this.

I love competing in parkrun myself. Plus as a running coach, I have set park run on the training/ racing programs of over 1000 runners whom I have coached since it started in Australia years ago. Please don’t attempt to take the competitive nature out of parkrun as if it goes, so will me and my runners.

Sean Williams (Melbourne , 2024-02-10)

I believe in Parkrun and it’s accessibility for all, whether 80 year old walker, 10 year old aspiring to be great or just Middle Aged and doing it for the pure joy

Jason Cook (San remo, 2024-02-10)

#534

Having aged grade information doesn’t exclude anyone

William Watson (Sunbury , 2024-02-10)

I am offended that you have excluded the competitive people. I am not one of them but I want them included

Liz Holt (Minyama, 2024-02-10)

As a runner I understand that preformance data is vital for runner who are after improvement

Alan Vernal (Melbourne , 2024-02-10)

So many of us check our results. Creates healthy competition between park run locations

Ashleigh Chapman (Buff point, 2024-02-10)

This makes no sense. Parkrun is inherently inclusive..from your Site"parkrun is positive, welcoming and inclusive, there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along." In the absence of time limits, the only competition is with yourself and the only goals personal. The ability to set personal goals, track personal progress, is benefits individual participants. As a parent of a person living with Cerebral Palsy, who participates in Swim Camps. Grading and knowing the benchmarks/what times other participants in their grade are achieving , is reassuring and very helpful in setting goals. It also assists with and identifying and targeting areas where gait and technique efficiencies can be achieved.

Leonie Robinson (brisbane, 2024-02-11)

I believe that data helps you track and record and motivate yourself. The inclusivity of parkrun comes from the people and the community not from if there are or are not stat's!

I’m signing because I like to look up park run records and work towards beating them. Now I can’t do that I might stop attending.

I feel loosing the Ave attendance and attendance records is crazy. This is a tool for parkrunners to see at a glance if they will go to an event. Say you have a person who is not great with crowds. If they se tat the ave attendance is normally small they have more chance of feeling ok. I know it’s easy to drill down and do more research but if we are going “woke” my small request should sway the vote my way.

Rodney Law (Carseldine , 2024-02-11)

It’s a stupid decision.

Cath Wood (Granville, 2024-02-11)

I'm super disappointed at parkruns response to transgender athletes and course-related performance data.

First, it's disingenuous to say that removing course/age catagory records will improve engagement for first-timers. Last week's results remain available; it's nonsensical to think that last week's first finishers' would discourage newcomers any more than historic records.

Secondly, why change anything based on a politicised issue? The concern about transgender athletes is a fringe issue used by the right as a culture war talking point. Don't feed the trolls.

Instead, parkrun removed a feature that celebrates the local running community's achievements through consistency and hard work. It's that very energy that draws newcomers in. Don't hide that.
