Unfortunate End to this Petition
2021-06-14 03:43:34Hello all Petitioners,
Unfortunately, the petition, with 50 signers or 50,000 signers, cannot coerce or force a property owner to demolish a piece of private property; as hideous as it may be. The Harford County Government and EPA did all that they could in terms of aid in this situation.
I would like to personally thank Cynthia Mumby for her continued support and resourcefulness during the petition. She provided contacts to the EPA, as well as historical data regarding the property and sent out litter control and health inspectors to the property for potential signs of infestation.
I would also like to thank Susan Bull and Deborah Tinsley from the Maryland EPA for providing gas tank removal and demolition records.
While this building is a true detriment to our small community, I can factually say that the gasoline tanks underground have been removed since October of 2006 (MDE Case No. 92-2348HA). Regarding the gasoline smell emitted from the ground during maintenance, I do not have an answer. My best guess would be that the soil is heavily contaminated and still has a strong odour, or that BGE simply happens to work on gasoline pipes that release an odour.
In terms of the property owner, Solil Management Group, I have never received a response from them regarding demolition, health inspection, or litter control. All of which were conducted post-email to HC Gov.
As unfortunate as this may be, let it serve as a reminder... it's the government.

Crown Petition Update
2021-04-10 19:03:39Hello!
We have sucessfuly passed 50+ signatures, which was the initial goal. My main objective was to gather a bunch of good statments from community members to send to the appropriate officials. Segall Realty, Solil Management, Barry Glassman, and more have been sent an email containing your signatures! Thank you!
More signatures would be preferred to make it known that we are tired of seeing this decaying building, so please, set a goal to send this petition to at least 5 different family members, friends, your Facebook page, etc. If we can all do that, over 250 signatures can be used to present to the government, and hopefully we can finally get rid of this thing!
Again, I truly do appreiciate everyone coming together! Spread the word!
