Had several family reunions in the park and everyone loved the animals. One of the reasons we choose this park for our family reunions.

I am signing because this park holds so many special memories to me and my family. I would hate to see it closed when it brings so many kids and families joy.

There is no reason this animal haven should be shut down.

This zoo was an important place for me to relax and unwind!! Don’t take this joy away from others!

I want to see the park stay open - yet be safe for the animals - The animal area needs improvement, so there will be no more flooding - spend the money wisely and don't make a political issue. The park has been here for decades and will be missed, if it closes.

Kathy Bachmann (Bridgewater, NJ, 2021-10-19)

There's no need for the animals to be moved when the employees love them so much and take great care of them

Caitlyn Newman (East Brunswick, 2021-10-19)

This place is an amazing place and the animals make the park even better. All the workers work really hard to keep the animals safe and taken care of and it is a great addition to the neighborhood.

I am signing to show my support for Johnson Park Animal Haven. I have been visiting Johnson Park ever since I was little and 20 years later it brings me so much joy to see all the well taken care of animals just enjoying life. To close down the Johnson Park Animal Haven would be a very grave mistake. For many animals such as cockerels and roosters, Johnson Park Animal Haven is a last ditch effort by their loving owners (me included) to find them a no kill home. The fact that the park may flood once every 100 years is not enough of a reason to shut it down and upend the lives of countless animals. If you have never raised livestock then you don’t have any business dictating the way in which the livestock are raised. How can someone who has no knowledge of livestock care possibly pass judgment on how the livestock at Johnson Park Animal Haven be cared for?

Aryeh Wiesel (Highland Park, 2021-10-19)

This is the best park to visit and feed and see the animals. They are very well taken care of and will be missed they are moved. PLEASE create an emergency plan vs moving them

The zoo was fantastic for my children when they were little and I still see many kids visiting. It’s a great option for local families - they’re outdoors together, enjoying nature. And it’s free - particularly good for poor parents.

Michael Schoeffler (Highland Park, 2021-10-19)

This is a haven for the animals and a treat for all the children in the community. There should be an emergency plan discussed before just automatically closing.

Ari Sofair-Fisch (Highland Park, 2021-10-19)

#277

Relocation is NOT the final solution to the animal problem

Avery Goodgoy (New Brunswick, 2021-10-19)

Keep this beautiful park alive! This park is so well maintained as are the animals ! Taking this away will take away from children, families, elderly and the animals as they receive so much love on the daily!

Kiara Guido (Bridgewater, 2021-10-19)

#283

Animals are great for children, it’s the closest thing we have to a zoo in the area.

Frieda Zamoszczyk (Highland park, 2021-10-19)

#284

My kids love it

Jen Traube (Somerset, 2021-10-19)

These animals have been a blessing for the community. They don't need to be moved if safety plans and features are implemented in case of flooding!

Brittany Karas (Milltown, 2021-10-19)

#287

This park is in close proximity to my home and has been a place where I frequently took my kids and they always enjoyed!

Cyrel Brudny (Piscataway, 2021-10-19)

#294

My kids love this park! My taxes pay for this park! Just like our houses flooded and we had to clean it up, the animals houses flooded and had to be fixed. The solution is not to move the animals that are beloved by so many and a huge attraction to the area. Do not cater to a few vocal individuals who are selfishly destroying a valuable part of the community.

Rivkah Epstein (Highland Park, 2021-10-19)

#295

This park has meant so much to me and my friends. Gave us joy during some hard periods in graduate school. We love seeing the animals and feeding them. We also love seeing the local community and their children learning about the animals and giving them treats. Carl is a great keeper and we want to see him stay running the animal sanctuary with emergency protocols to protect the animals.

Nicole S (South Plainfield, 2021-10-19)

The Johnson park Zoo is a valuable resource for our children. Just make animals safe.

Kids need more exposure to animals in a way that is easy for the adults in their lives. Johnson Park's animals area provides this exposure.

Miriam Gross (Highland Park, 2021-10-19)

#310

I believe that this is a proper community resource and there is a better way to keep the animals safe in case of floods.

Jayla Smith (Edison , 2021-10-19)

The little children love to feed the animals in the zoo. Why can they not build a wall fill with dirt so it will be above flood range

This is very important to keep in middlesex county. They should be upgrading it. Not destroying it

our children need this!

Lander Matthew (Woodbridge , 2021-10-19)

#320

Keep the Johnson Park animals where they belong! They bring pleasure to thousands of visitors each year and removing them would be a real loss to the park and the community.

Rachel Silberman (Edison , 2021-10-19)

#323

I’m signing because I agree 100% that these animals are safe and happy. A new emergency plan is all that’s needed.
My Down Syndrome son and I visit here often and he has learned so much from the animals up close. Some of the animals know us and come when we call them. This closure is not necessary. How can we reverse??? My heart is so sad….

Cheryl Szwast (Piscataway , 2021-10-19)

#326

We really love this animal haven and would hate to see such a beautiful haven go in the dust because of a storm!

#333

I’m signing because this zoo is enjoyed by many many families and their children for decades. It’s a great community asset. Improvements can be made to fix this issue but should definitely not be shut down.

Steve Rubin (Highland Park, NJ, 2021-10-19)

#334

I went to the zoo as a child and I bring my children there all the time. The zoo should stay open for our children!

Ari Rosenberg (Edison, 2021-10-19)

#338

It is a beautiful low-key memorable place to take our young children. It is part of community in the neighborhood. We want to give our children memories of where they were born and this will create one less choice if it is closed down

Abraham Gruber (Edison, 2021-10-19)

#339

This is their home! Has been for many years! All that taxpayers money - institute an emergency plan - fix up their haven -Don’t close it!! Children, adults all come here to see the animals - don’t take away everyone’s including the animals happiness. Don’t Take the easy way out - for once fo something positive for the animals

Teresa Nelson (ENGLISHTOWN, 2021-10-19)

I visited as a child and now I visit with my own children. Storms like Ida are rare, but wholesome free family areas like this are even more rare.

#371

Ever since I was a kid, this place became part of my childhood and one of the very few memories my family hold dearly to this day. Yes I've seen the condition of how it become over the years and how people seen the animals.

But if we are to help, we should contribute our time and/or money by donating so we can help improve the conditions for the animals (rather than a shutdown). Though it may cost a lot of time and fortune, I'll be willing to help and I bet many people will do the same if they are willing to help.

Michael Miranda (Piscataway, 2021-10-20)

#373

I want the zoo to stay open

Clyde Kluge (Oklahoma City, 2021-10-20)

#378

I grew up going to this zoo. The animals always seemed happy and well cared for. No location is totally safe from natural disaster and the fact that a once in a lifetime flood threatened the animals, but harmed non, is a silly reason to close the zoo. Bad storms, tornados, earth quakes etc will always pose a potential risk, even in areas where they are uncommon. The logical solution is to have a plan in place to combat the threat, not throw the baby out with the bath water

William Miller (Edison, 2021-10-20)

#380

I am signing because the zoo was/is an institution where children can enjoylearning about animals.
In addition it’s a fun place for families to enjoy quality time and enjoyable Sat or Sunday without having to fight traffic. It’s local.

I'm signing because the zoo had been a source of experience and joy for my children and grandchildren for the last 25 years. The park, the town and the county, will be greatly diminished without it.

I've been visiting the zoo since the 60's & there isn't another local zoo in this area. It's a tremendous loss for the area.
