Keep the Johnson Park Animal Haven OPEN

These animals need to stay in their homes! No animal should ever be removed from it’s home without investigating the Veracity of any complaints. Investigators should never be individuals that are uneducated in the proper care of the animals, livestock or domesticated pets. If a flood plane is the only concern that should be investigated by an expert as to how often does it flood, are all animals on high ground for such an event, is there an emergency alternate safety plan? A 100 year flood plane is not a valid complaint. A yearly flood plane is worthy of a closer look. Please use your heads rather than jumping at the noise of a complaint.

I grew up in the area and I think and emergency plan is better than moving the animals.

Susan Poznyansky (Fords, 2021-10-20)

#406

I grew up going there on Sundays. It gave me great memories. It should remain for others to enjoy. And the animals need it.

Jack Morris (Naples, 2021-10-20)

Save the animals.

Jessica Jimenez (Highland Park, 2021-10-20)

#415

We love the zoo, me and my family have been visiting regularly for years, it would be a huge disappointment, not to mention taking away a regional amenity for us families. Please keep our zoo!

Isaac Goldberg (New Jersey, 2021-10-20)

#418

These animals are in a safe place and well taken care of. Unfortunately accidents happen around the world and don't forget get bad weather. Floods Happens that's part of life. Not a reason to close the zoo. Find something else to complain about. #get a hobby, #get or cable tv, #get or a life

Misa Rodriguez (Edison, 2021-10-20)

#422

Keep animals at Johnson park zoo

Joann Donahue (Kendall park , 2021-10-21)

#425

I like to see all animals close to my home for feee. This park is giving educational knowledge to our kids and grand kids. Don’t get bullied by activists and close the park.

Deven Patel (Dayton, 2021-10-21)

#433

My kids love the haven. The animals are all well taken care of. Fix the issue dont shut it down!

Avrahom Rosenstock (highland park, 2021-10-21)

#435

I am outraged that a few unthinking people did not try to find a solution that allows this zoo to remain open. Putting the caretakers out of a job because of a one time event that took everyone by surprise is mean spirited and self-righteous.

Pamela Wasserman (Edison, 2021-10-21)

#437

We really enjoyed the zoo when my kids were little. It's accessibility (free!) and location are key.

Rebecca Strub (Highland Park , 2021-10-21)

#441

we all enjoy the area and love the animals. its a great place that builds community, friendships and peace.

Mary Cole (edison, 2021-10-21)

#445

The group claiming to be friends of the animals lied in their propaganda and deleted truthful posts from their Facebook page. An argument based on lies should not be rewarded and lead to the closing of an animal haven with a record of saving animals for over 50 years. Ida wasn’t expected to be that bad and yet they still saved all the animals. Closing it is wrong and Middlesex County Commissioners should be ashamed for falling for the false narrative. Reward the employees that saved ALL the animals and keep this great institution open for all to enjoy.

Fry Steven (South Bound Brook, 2021-10-21)

#450

I want the animals to stay in Johnson’s Park.

Diane Keane (Brick, 2021-10-21)

When my children were young I would take them to the park. They loved seeing the animals and I liked knowing they were going to be protected from being hit by a car or shot by a hunter.

This has been a huge source of Learning and Joy for many Many Years in this area. It is cruel to deprive area residents of this “ Little Bit of Wonder and Joy “!!!! Was just there today. Let me know if I can help save it !!! Alan

Alan Gerber (Piscataway , 2021-10-22)

#479

I’m signing because this is political and an easy way for the higher ups to simply give in. Why would you take an exceptional experience away from families of generations. The animals are extremely loved by their caretakers. I have yet to see any evidence of abuse. They have always been happy and loved. Shame shame shame

Dawn Sibi (Piscataway, 2021-10-22)

#481

My kids loved and still love this small zoo. A good education opportunity to them as well.
And when weather is good, so many parents are bringing their children there to visit the animals, even some adults without children.

Rongjin Guan (Highland Park, 2021-10-22)

#484

CLOSE DOWN THIS ZOO. THESE ANIMALS ARE MISTREATED, NEGLECTED AND SAD. AND YOU SHOULD ALL BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES YOU SELFISH PEICES OF SHIT!!!! YOU DONT DESERVE THEM.

Nell Burns (NJ, 2021-10-22)

#486

I have been visiting the animals at this park for years and I would like them instead to find a safe place if there is a flood to relocate for the time. But I love these animals and do not want them gone.

Lisa Wales (Edison, 2021-10-23)

#487

My family and I have visited the zoo since I was a child. Closing the zoo would be a loss to the community.

Donna Maiorano (Edison, 2021-10-25)

#507

Great park and always busy with people enjoying. Animals are well kept with proper spacing and always look healthy and happy. Area is clean and don't know what people saw when they said there is an animal welfare issue.

Yasser Baig (Piscataway, 2021-10-25)

#509

The animals make so many children so happy!!
For families have gone to the park to see these beautiful animals and make their way to the stables to see the beautiful horses..

Maura Leahy (North Brunswick , 2021-10-26)

So many families have been enjoying all the animals for so very many years. Parents who visited the zoo as children now bring their children to enjoy the animals.

Katherine Maiorano (Edison, NJ, 2021-10-26)

#519

I’m signing this because my daughter and I love going to Johnson’s Park to see the animals. We go about once a week. There are always multiple workers there taking care of the animals and the animals always look healthy. You can go anywhere For a playground but the animal haven is special! The children love the animals. Don’t ruin it for them!!

Jessica Zirkel (Jamesburg, 2021-10-28)

#521

The animals have safely been on the same flood plain spot for 80 years.

This is great place to spend time with your kids! It will be such a lost to a great community we live in. My Kid will be devastated if all animals will be gone. Don't make such a huge mistake closing it ..

#536

Animals were well taken care of and had always heavy visiting traffic enjoying close experience with animals.. I do agree that emergency plans should be considered to make haven safer for animals instead of closing

Ilya Tarasov (East Brunswick, 2021-11-03)

#542

This park has mini animal section that is so priceless and wonderful place for kids to come and see animal friends and enjoy the park itself. Closing this section is horrible and unfair for workers and people who come here to enjoy the animals.

Yaeram Brown (Edison, 2021-11-04)

#544

Love seeing the animals at Johnson Park and I think they are very well cared for

David Carroll (Edison, 2021-11-05)

I do not want animals relocated. It would stress the animal out and harm their health

The animals are cared for and people do enjoy coming to see them.
Have an emergency plan in place and if forecast indicates bad weather, implement the emergency plan and evacuate the animals.

Paula MacRae (Edison , 2021-11-28)

#572

I have been going to Johnson Park for over 50 years. I still go several times a year. Floods happen, rarely. In my opinion, that is not a reason to close this much loved park.

Thomas ODowd (Toms River, 2021-12-03)

#578

I believe it is stupid to think that the animals will be better off if the zoo is closed. For better or worse, this is their home.

Daniel Bubb (Woodbridge, 2021-12-03)

#580

I grew up in Piscataway off River road and went to the park all the time. I then took my children and they learned about respect for animals and why they are important. People need to stop cancelling anything and everything. KEEP THE DAMN ZOO OPEN!

I’ve been coming to this park since I was a baby … it was one of the few, inexpensive pleasures my immigrant parents had, bringing me and my siblings here. I have countless precious memories of feeding the goats … back then they were satisfied with eating the leaves we would pick up off the ground. For some reason I remember how happy and carefree my parent seemed anytime they took us there. Now, decades later, a whole other generation gets to enjoy the Johnson Park Zoo - my children. And it is a special moment when my parents get to come and feed the animals with their grandkids, just like they did with us. Johnson Zoo has provided many hours of entertainment being so close by and accessible unlike most of the other major attractions in NJ (anyone who has young kids knows that going even 30min away is a whole ordeal…Johnson Park Zoo is so close that it always is an easy option to keep our little ones busy). My 3 year old daughter especially is a huge animal lover. Coming to see and feed the animals there is one of her favorite things to do. I do my best to teach her what I can about the animals as we watch them. We talk to the horse. We laugh at the huge lazy pigs. We admire the gorgeous loud peacock. We scold the adult goats who butt away the baby goats when we feed them. Losing this special pastime would really be sad for our family. I hope there is a way to both preserve the safety of the animals as well as preserve this special place, a place where even the brand new hardworking immigrant family can bring their children to enjoy, then those children years later can bring their own children, and on and on …
