India recorded 1,84,372 new coronavirus infections in the highest single-day rise so far, and 1,027 deaths.

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, reports indicated that the disease was mostly affecting older adults, and that young people were more likely to have milder cases of the disease.

As resent news suggests,The decision to cancel the CBSE class 10 board examinations and defer the class 12 boards came after Prime Minister chaired a high-level meeting with Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal and prominent bureaucrats on Wednesday in the wake of rising cases of coronavirus disease.

But are ICSE students more immune to the virus than those in the CBSE boards?

Why is ICSE not mentioning anything about this issue? As the 2nd wave of COVID-19 hits India the dangers have skyrocketed, affecting younger people unlike the 1st wave.

Even people who have been vaccinated are dying due to this disease. Is anyone even safe anymore? And in the midst of this apocalyptic environment students are expected to give ther exams , in a room with not even 3 feet of distance between them for hours everyday?

Not to mention , the lockdown had serious implications on mental health of numerous students, resulting in psychological problems including frustration, stress, anxiety and depression. Sedentary behaviour and low levels of physical activity can have negative effects on the health, well-being and quality of life of individuals. Self-quarantine can also cause additional stress and challenge the mental health of students.

Moreover the affects of the 2nd wave is even more terrifying and dangerous to all citizens.India’s healthcare sector is not equipped for the unprecedented rise in coronavirus cases.

India recorded the fastest 1 million covid-19 cases in a matter of merely 6 days moving from 13 million to 14 million with daily caseload rising by over 2 lakh each for the second consecutive day on Thursday.

Children being the future of our country are important and should be protected at all costs.

Nearly 2 lakh children will give the ICSE board exams, and roughly  one lakh teachers will be a part of it. These places are major destinations for the spreading of COVID-19. The lives of the students and the staff members will be in danger. Therefore, it is my sincere request to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations to cancel the ICSE exams.
