Governor Evers we must open the Northwoods by May 15.

Dear Governor Evers,

We the people of Wisconsin’s northern region depend completely on the short summer season for our livelihood. It has taken decades for us to become viable and self sustaining up here. To say our economy is fragile is accurate and we absolutely cannot risk the upcoming critical months of tourism income to the low risk projected to our region from the Coronavirus. 

We have many opportunities due to our rural area to practice smart and proven guidelines. We can welcome the seasonal homeowners and offer them their opportunity to relax and enjoy their sanctuaries with plenty of ability to have ample social distancing. 

Many may want to stay at home for much of the season and we can appreciate that. We are able to provide many services up here to make their stay comfortable and safe. This enables us to keep our small businesses open and our own families fed!

Our businesses will work together to safely offer our products and specialties that people enjoy while visiting this part of the state.  

Governor Evers, it is critical that we open before Memorial Day weekend. We realize this may be the most challenging economic season of our lives and we need to tackle it together with “Open for Business “ doors.

We want to make point of the extremely low numbers and f this virus in the northern counties. We simply do not have numbers that make a closing to our entire livelihoods rational. We need to open now but would be satisfied with an open date for May 15. Give us our chance to do what we all do best, provide for ourselves and our neighbors.

Give us the “Go” sign so we can get moving. We promise to utilize all the safety information available and keep Wisconsin shining this summer for everyone.
