Petition to Reduce/Transfer/Explain the use of 2020-2021-year fees of SRMIST

Respected Faculty and whomsoever it may concern,

We the students of SRMIST would like to show our discontent to how the fees have been handled this semester.

Out of the 2,50,000(2 lakhs 50 thousand rupees) paid by most students,
the split-up as you already may be knowing:
1,25,000 Tuition fees
50,000 Lab fees
25,000 Computer Lab fees
12,500 Library fees
12,500 Sports and Games Fees
25,000 Development fees

We find it unjustifiable for us to pay the full amount this semester where every academic activity takes place online and all the resources used are free for public use (gmeet,nit online lab etc)

And hence we would like to demand a few things from your side

1. We would like to get a refund of 50% of the fees other than the tuition fees (i.e. lab, computer lab, library sports and games and development fees), 50% since that would ideally be the fees for the 2020 1st semester.

2. Refund of Hostel fees, only a small portion of the amount has been refunded and we demand the complete refund as hostel and mess facilities have not been availed since the college closed.

3. Refund of 2019-2nd semester exam fees. We had paid for the semester exams but never took the exam. Hence, we demand a full refund.

In a situation where, a refund would not be initiated, we demand an official explanation for how the funds have been used or in a situation where these funds will be passed onto next year and a fee reduction will be initiated, we demand an official proclamation as soon as possible.

We ask this with the utmost respect for the institution as well as our parents hard-work to bring in this money to support our education.
