I don't want to see my beautiful golf course covered in fungal and weed diseases when we all emerge from this lockdown.

Andy Sherborne (Paraparaumu beach, 2020-04-08)

#1802

Greens need to be maintained and with proper [process there is no risk for green keepers. Also it will safe money later on for the golf clubs because if the greens are lost, it will cost a lot of money and lost opportunity.

Navin Patel (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1803

the cost to recover will be enormous at a time when clubs will be under financial stress because of minimal inward cashflow at the peak of the season

Anthony Candy (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

#1804

Golf is one of the few sports where you are able to compete and still maintain a safe social distance.

Phil Hartley (Wellington , 2020-04-08)

#1805

It makes sense to allow a green keeper to maintain a course particularly the greens when he would be staying in his bubble. The government has allowed the racing industry to do this and also Councils to upkeep their own recreational areas. I.e. rugby fields etc are being mown.

Leanna Hutchison (Auckland , 2020-04-08)

#1806

There is limited risk to the green keepers. Cost will cripple clubs when trying to get these back to standard. Golf clubs provide a social service that benefits the community, a place for some older golfers to keep social contact, general fitness etc. This will be essential going forward as we try to find some normality post lock down

David Schlup (Paraparaumu , 2020-04-08)

#1807

I believe that even if 2 persons were to be at a golf club to mow greens etc ....the distancing protocols would be place ie mowing greens /fairways/ roughs & general upkeep of what greens staff do

Graham Brooks (Wainuiomata, Lower Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1808

As Chairman of The St Clair Golf Club Board of Management I am extremely concerned at the likely costs of reinstatement of the course post lockdown. There is virtually no risk of spreading the virus by mowing the greens.

Stephen Brocklebank (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#1813

Basic maintenance of golf courses and other recreational spaces is vital to preserve these assets for use following lockdown. With suitable hygiene protocols, this can be done with little risk to the overall objectives of the Covid-19 Lockdown.

David Hopkins (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1815

The cost of bringing courses back will financially cripple many clubs who are struggling now to stay afloat. The social and we'll being of club members will be seriously impacted through Govts lack of understanding about the significance of golf to a wide range of normal kiwis.

Paul Evans (Paraparaumu , 2020-04-08)

#1816

Very concerned as to the losses suffered by all clubs.

John Wallbank (Upper Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1823

The costs to address the non action around the greens will be considerable and in some cases will cause clubs to re view their future involvement with the sport
Certain diseases may go unchecked which will cost thousands to remedy.
One or two green keepers should pose minimal risk and save thousands.
Golf courses, bowling clubs and the like allow many people to interact which without this we will be a poorer society.

Graham Hills (New Plymouth, 2020-04-08)

#1824

If done sensibly there is no increased risk of spreading the virus.

Daniela Sutcliffe (Tauranga, 2020-04-08)

#1830

The impacts on my golf course will be severe regardless, any push in the right direction to lessen the blow once ‘normal’ returns will be huge

Garry Davis (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

#1832

I think one maintenance person per club would not hurt the ongoing social distancing effort by the gov’t but this will greatly impact the NZ Golf clubs financially.

Celestino Feliciano (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#1834

It only seems reasonable that one man could maintain the greens or even fairways without putting himself or any other person in danger of infection. If council workers are able to mow parks etc what is the difference plus it will save the country millions

David Miscamble (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1836

Basic maintenance will enable the courses be bought back to playing standard quicker with less cost. Clubs are already experiencing financial pressures with this added cost. 1 person doing maintenance has little risk.

Mark Morrissey (Waikanae, 2020-04-08)

#1838

Golf clubs need to be maintained

Michelle Russell (Auckland , 2020-04-08)

#1840

I’m signing because I think it is absolutely absurd that greenkeepers aren’t permitted to do maintenance on the courses.

Audrey Messenger (Upper Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1841

I am signing because I am very aware of the very regular care and maintenance required for golf course greens to prevent the ingress of diseases. The cost to restore greens once infected is significant and is a cost our club can not afford.

Paul De Bernardo (Kapiti, 2020-04-08)

#1847

I'm signing this because golf is my recreation and social contact. If courses aren't maintained at minimal standards courses could be unplayable for many months.

John Gillespie (Paraparaumu, 2020-04-08)

#1848

Horrendous damage to golf course greens will be done if basic maintenance is not carried out
This will bankrupt some clubs

Andrew Markman (Mt Maunganui , 2020-04-08)

#1852

I am a green ceaper at silversream golf course

Bob Campbell (Dr, 2020-04-08)

#1859

Golf clubs are strugglinng. If they can't maintain even a basic level of course maintenance it will be financially beyond them to do it when the lockdown is lifted. Also it will mean that courses can open quickly, allowing people to play sooner, meaning they can keep up their interest in an active past time..

Ian Macindoe (Otaki, 2020-04-08)

#1860

Our NZ golf courses need to be protected. Course maintenance by one or two green keeping staff would not threaten any physical distancing requirements. It is ridiculous that MBIE has not relaxed these restrictions.

James Henderson (Waikanae, 2020-04-08)

#1861

Golf greens especially need to be maintained

Warwick Evans (Upper Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1863

It just makes sense

Bevan Meddings (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#1864

I agree it is crucial to maintain the course.

Corey Standish (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#1865

It will cost more in the long run if golf courses are not maintained. They can be managed using safe distancing.

Lee Whitelaw (Kaikohe, 2020-04-08)

#1868

The cost to reinstate greens will be prohibitive to most golf clubs and bowling greens

Les Kaukas (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1870

Why a green keeper can't mow greens when a member of the public is allowed to walk their dog thru the same area defies logic.

John Howarth (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1877

Golf....... A game where people generally play further away from each other than what is the 2m guidelines for social distancing.
1x Greenkeeper on a completely isolated golf course where NOBODY else is.
$$$$$$$$$ To sort this shit out later when the courses are stuffed and the decision makers with no balls start saying “ oh shit, maybe we should have let them do their job”.

Rob Parkes (New Plymouth, 2020-04-08)

#1884

We want to keep our golf course as beautiful as it is

Lyn Carlson (Otaki, 2020-04-08)

#1885

I am aware of the huge investment that golf clubs have made in greens and overall infrastructure. The quicker we can maintain the property the better. Regards David Service

David Service (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

#1891

My son loves his weekly golf lessons (pre covid-19) at Hororata golf course. If the course isn't maintained he may not be able to continue his lessons once they start up again due to the greens being in an unplayable condition.

Sarah Rickard (Darfield, 2020-04-08)

#1893

Golf courses are an essential pass time helping people's mental health and overall Wellbeing by way of physical and social time. If courses are left any longer without basic care then course will have to remain closed even passed lockdown as will take greens staff so much longer to have the course returned to a playable condition it's not just mowing your average lawn there is an art to it and we are at risk of not recovering if this ban isn't lifted asap. For the record I no longer play golf due to MS but I still have many friends that do and am still a social member at Avondale Golf in ChCh

Tammy Black (Christchurch , 2020-04-08)

#1894

I feel storngly that green keepers are social distancing as they perfom their course tasks in mowing the greens and fairways so when this lockdown is over memebers can get back i to ormal livi g as much as possible

Lorna Casey (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#1895

Mowing contractors are busy round here mowing private lawns. Millions has been spent on golf courses - it maybe too hard to get up and go when we're allowed.

Christine Lewis (Masterton , 2020-04-08)

#1897

Essential golf course maintenance can be easily carried out safely, thus avoiding substantial future costs to already struggling golf clubs, while at the same time acknowledging the Covid19 crisis

Arthur Parkin (Mt Eden, 2020-04-08)

#1899

I am an avid golfer and am concerned our golf courses are negatively impacted by MBIE's inflexible policy

David Hoogenboom (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1900

Until March 21st I was a member at Avondale golf club in Chch, Nz. I believe the courses can and should be maintained in a safe manner by the greenkeepers during the lockdown.

Jo Prejza (Gold Coast , 2020-04-08)

#1901

Needless waste

Caroline Calderwood (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#1903

Being able to play regularly is essential in my life.

Rudi Hoen (Porirua, 2020-04-08)

#1904

The course greens will die if not mown.

D V (Ak, 2020-04-08)

#1907

I fell ths is a very important part of the ongoing health and fitmess requirements for NZ and golf is important to many young and old.

Dave Whiting (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1908

My brother is a green keeper.. so I appreciate they need to be constantly maintained

Lisa Adamson (Manukau , 2020-04-08)

#1913

I believe that golf course maintenance could be undertaken without risk

Peter Amer (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#1920

Can be done safely

Ross Baker (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1926

This is common sense.

Tapu Panuve (Auckland , 2020-04-08)

#1928

I want my golf course to be in good condition when I’m eventually allowed to play.

Paula Baynes (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1933

Simple. Golf courses are at risk here. They will also be one of the vehicles to help take NZ out of lockdown and give people something meaningful to do when that occurs. Further our club has 200 hectares of land and we envisage one greenkeeper on the course doing maintenance. Cant get more self isolated than that !

Andrew Mclachlan (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#1934

Do not let all the beautiful golf courses go to ruin and bankrupt
There are already just mabaging to survive and need NZ and overseas support
At least - Maintain the greens to stop the disease and moss ruining them forever. Thank you 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⛳️🥰

Eileen O'Farrell (Aberdeen, 2020-04-08)

#1937

This can safely be done if only one green keeper present at any one time.

Ray Patton (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

#1938

Sport is our life and is part of who we are

Judith Mclean (Timaru, 2020-04-08)

#1939

With everyone having been in lockdown for a while people need something to look forward to on the other end. Golf course maintenance does not require close quarter contact and so is a minimal risk whilst allowing some people to work

Ben Taylor (Lower hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1941

Im a golfer so have a vesyed interest.

Julia Owens (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

#1943

I believe the maintenance work is critical to the future of golf in NZ and the staff needed will in no way be at risk or risk others with regard to COVID-19

Terry Newson (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1944

I miss golf x

Aaron Davys (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1946

constant maintenance is required to our courses on a regular basis.

Neil Frederickson (Liwer Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1948

Maintaining golf courses will prevent costly deterioration and provide ongoing safe work for green keepers. Will also enable a quicker return to normal life when the situation eases.

Alan Kirkham (Masterton , 2020-04-08)

#1949

I feel we need to keep the standards up so when courses open again the overseas traveling public can spend on green fees to assist in keeping the course going
Also hard to bring back from long and Scruffy grass to nice greens etc.

Robin Wright (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1953

Golf maybe the only sport that will be playable once the level 4 is lowered to level 3.
People need to play sport!
Its good for mental health.
Not to mention the damage done and financial issues that will come from grass overgrowth.

Sam Brooks (wellington, 2020-04-08)

#1954

It ridiculous that a single operator cannot go between home and a golf course and do general maintenance on equipment that only he/she touches

Carl Sheridan (Pirongia, 2020-04-08)

#1957

Green keepers can work and social distance. Highly costly for golf clubs who are struggling anyway to repair inkrpt greens and fairways

Stuart Roberts (Christchurch , 2020-04-08)

#1960

After many years of hard work by our devoted greens staff, committees and management it would be devating to loose our greens and the cost off of doing so could well be the death knell of our club.

Robert Griffiths (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1961

Golf is super important to many people and contributes to the economy

Rob Lockhart (WELLINGTON , 2020-04-08)

#1965

Ian Waddell

Ian Waddell (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

#1966

With out basic maintenance over this shutdown period greens may be lost, and the return to the new normal would be unnecessarily delayed.

Mark Hollard (Whangamata, 2020-04-08)

#1969

Our local golf course gives us and other retirees much needed exercise and extra expense to bring back up to playing standard after a long break would very likely lead to increased fees which would make it unaffordable for some and therefore impact on their health and wellbeing.

Sharon Ash (Upper Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1970

One person on one mower to maintain greens so that when lockdown is over it won’t cost thousands or take months to get them back again

Peter Gerard (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#1974

I think it is essential work.

Sue Trewartha (Auckland , 2020-04-08)

#1976

Without proper maintenance especially on the greens the result could be disastrous - financially

Bindy Mcleod (Martinborough , 2020-04-08)

#1977

Everyone should be able get out and do normal things when we get the all clear. Not wait more months to get the courses ready

Pauline Maclean (Kapiti, 2020-04-08)

#1978

It is ridiculous to allow Golf Courses to go to rack and ruin when greenkeepers can work entirely separately from each other on the course. Common sense needs to prevail

Ross Preston (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1979

Concerned about consequences of zero maintenance on our golf course. Golf is important for my and many others' physical and mental well-being.

Peter Lamb (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#1989

It is important to minimize the damage that will inevitably occur if the greens are not maintained.

Pieter Hectors (Wellington , 2020-04-08)

#1990

I don't want when we get back to normality not to be able to play golf because the course is unplayable

Fred Lindsay (Upper hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1993

I don’t want to see long term damaged caused by no maintenance.

John Neill (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

#1994

I believe golf course green keeping staff will work responsibly to maintain golf course greens and pose no threat to the public or endanger themselves.

ian clunies-ross (wellington, 2020-04-08)

#1996

I think this is important. The work can be done safely , it provides employment and will save money in the long term

Linda Ashley (Auckland , 2020-04-08)

#1999

The green keepers will be able to maintain the courses whilst obeying all the Covid19 rules. I don’t think spacing would be a problem.

Joseph Gunn (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

#2000

Green-keepers work by themselves - greens have to be looked after each day - if they are left too long - the recovery would close some courses - more people out of a job

Sonia Walsh (Upper hutt, 2020-04-08)
