Golf course will be a mess if they don’t get maintained

Sungyu Seo (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1003

It is my strong view that this is vital for the ongoing health of Seniors post Lockdown, The opportunity to have exercise and social contact with like people is so important. We do need a surface available quickly. Also why waste millions of Dollars and in some cases Liquidation of assets.

Stuart Scott (Welington, 2020-04-08)

#1008

It is work that can be carried out safely under the regulations
And will allow golf courses to be made available for healthy recreational when the levels are lowered without the loss of thousands of dollars required in repairs and work needed to bring the grounds back up to standard

Lesley Carter (Auckland , 2020-04-08)

#1011

The impact will be huge on a lot of people

Janine Hosking (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#1012

I'm signing because there's no good reason why clubs cannot mow and maintain their greens during this period. The cost to clubs of recovering their greens will be prohibitive against the cost and risk of maintenance now!

Scott MacLean (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

#1013

The risk of transmission is minimal, if any, while the cost of repair is horrendous.
Many clubs will never recover.

Michael Foote (Hamilton, 2020-04-08)

#1016

This is only logical. No one is hurt by this being made essential. There is only up sides.

Andrew Wright (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1018

We will lose clubs due to cost of re establishing new greens if not maintained

Shane Eagar (Porirua , 2020-04-08)

#1019

It is essential that golf and bowling clubs are able to maintain their greens! See in the Herald that the council is mowing parks in Auckland!!!

Merle Jonson (ST ANDREWS HAMILTON, 2020-04-08)

#1020

I’m signing because this allows one person to effectively maintain safely a golf course and preserve it from financial ruin long term.

Tanya Moore (Christchurch , 2020-04-08)

#1025

Love golf

Ross McNabb (Napier , 2020-04-08)

#1030

I am signing this because golf is a fantastic sport and my husband works very hard and he needs golf for a release and I enjoy going along too.

Anna Brown (Christchurch , 2020-04-08)

#1032

I am signing as a relatively new member of Westown golf club. One thing that became very obvious to me very early on was the amount of work it takes to maintain a golf course - even after just two weeks of lockdown the course will be showing signs of neglect
I believe it should be possible for basic maintenance to be undertaken without unravelling the work the country has done in the last two weeks to beat Covid 19. Greenkeepers work is mostly undertaken on their own so could continue with clear plans in place to guarantee distancing is maintained.
There is a very real danger I understand that some clubs could fail if they are left to deteriorate too long as the costs of remediation would be prohibitive. The social, physical and mental health risks of this happening are a huge concern.

Julie Doran (New Plymouth , 2020-04-08)

#1036

Current situation sucks

RS Schoonraad (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1037

I believe taking care of golf and bowling clubs helps mental health of nzers and prevention of the damage which is done is better than the cure

Bosun Paki (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1040

Golf is an important recreational activity for our older community providing physical and social benefits. They are doing it particularly hard during this lockdown and deserve to look forward to getting back to enjoying golf on the courses their subs pay to have maintained

Christine Maslowski (Auckland , 2020-04-08)

#1041

In the not too distant future we will come out of lockdown, however the world we re-enter into, the ability of us all to adjust, mentally cope and enjoy it and the ability of many Sports clubs to survive will be largely determined by what we do and don’t do during lockdown. Allowing essential work to be done on sports fields is absolutely critical to these outcomes!

Andy Trounson (Christchurch , 2020-04-08)

#1042

Golf enriches lives and we will need our game to help people exercise again. The turf surface of a golf course is carefully managed particularly the putting greens. It has become vital that some maintenance is now required before the cost for recovery becomes too much

Phil Aickin (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1045

I support the need for course maintenance during lockdown

DONALD BETHAM (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

#1046

I have friends who are green keepers who have worked bloody hard to get their courses to where they are. All they’re asking is that they be able to atleast maintain the greens which cost a bloody fortune to get right. I am also signing because the govt keeps banging on about keeping good mental health, well Politicians when we can finally get back to lives we won’t be able to play golf which is a great form of excersise because all the keepers will be trying to get their courses back in shape. This is far more essential than bloody egg slicers from briscoes!!!!!!

Kelly McIntosh (Auckland , 2020-04-08)

#1049

Golf is my main form of exercise.

Keith Tuffery (New Plymouth, 2020-04-08)

#1053

To save golf club.

Stuart Clark (Christchuch, 2020-04-08)

#1054

we should also add Lawn Bowles Clubs

Roger Barnes (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1055

It is all about the social and physical aspects that people will need after lock-down. Also about saving millions in repairs needed.

Brett Woodley (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#1059

Like bowling greens they need high maintenance. Allowing one person to do work is not jepodising anything

Denise Stewart (Masterton , 2020-04-08)

#1061

Long term damage.

Carol Thompson (Kaitaia, 2020-04-08)

#1063

We believe minimal maintenance is harming no one and will save our clubs thousands and mayb allow them to survive..we are all dreaming if a normal life asap

Pam and Tony Gillies (Matamata, 2020-04-08)

#1064

Wholly illogical not to allow golf course maintenance during the lockdown. No risk of Covid 19 transmission and wholly unlikely that an accident will occur putting pressure on health and emergency services.

Lina Worthing (Upper Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1066

I'm signing in because if we loose our greens the mental stress on our members after loosing greens will be unimaginable

Basil Dodunski (Inglewood , 2020-04-08)

#1067

This is vital work to the members who pay and it does not breach the lockdown

Paul Arnold (Paraparaumu Beach, 2020-04-08)

#1069

It makes sense to do a little maintenance now to avoid a massive bill later for golf clubs - folllwing standard distancing measures of course

Mike Revell (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

#1070

The nature of each golf course makes the daily maintenance critical. The course itself is also important to the wellbeing of thousands of people across the country. Loss of these resources, which we are risking, will reduce recreational opportunities for so many if the are lost, at a time when they are most needed (end of lockdown)

Craig Johnson (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1074

I’m signing because I find the extent of this lockdown unconscionable and punitive. I implore you to take the foot off of our throats.

Andrew Brabant (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1076

I’m signing because it will ruin too many courses and clubs if this can’t be done.

Rosemay Foot (Tauranga, 2020-04-08)

#1079

I believe that maintenance workers could carry out the necessary work on golf courses without endangering themselves or others during the lockdown

Janet Dolan (Wanaka, 2020-04-08)

#1087

Parks and recreational areas are being mown and are not essential in my eyes.
Where as on a golf course thousands of hours of work can be un-done in the space of a week of no maintenance.

Mitch Scott (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1089

Our golf course Boulcotts Farm Heritage Golf Club has gone from being CD a beautiful golf course to looking like a paddock in 14 days. It requires maintenance

Mark Brandwood (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1093

There is no reason why a greenskeeper shouldn’t be able to tend to his course, zero chance of human contact and their not there will be millions of dollars of damage to courses

Paul Flynn (Auckland , 2020-04-08)

#1094

I think they need to let green keepers keep them to a playable state

Heather Ormandy (Oamaru, 2020-04-08)

#1095

It is imperative that golf greens are maintained during the Covid 19 lockdown and all work cam be done safely with only one person required to do the work. The cost of restoring greens for some clubs could be financially devastating.

Margaret McDougall (New Plymouth , 2020-04-08)

#1096

Im signing because i believe the Golf courses need to be maintained

Jah Love (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1097

Absolutely necessary

Jeanie Schofer (Lower Hutt, 2020-04-08)

#1100

It’s the safest activity out

John Mackay (Dunedin, 2020-04-08)

#1105

As an ex landscaping, lawns and gardens business owner the lack of maintenance and the potential for rabbits to run riot over the greens and cause so much damage is heart breaking to all courses
Regards
(Kaiapoi golf club member)

Dave Coira (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#1106

Keep our course alive

Huia Vercoe (Rotorua , 2020-04-08)

#1107

Hawkes bay course will be ruined if mainteneace is not done

doug wright (hastings, 2020-04-08)

#1109

The aim for us all is to exit this calamity with some form of normality, our Golf Courses will not, allow bubble enforced workstreams to happen to protect the many years of development which have made many of our Golf Clubs what they are today.

Lindsay Poutana (Paraparaumu , 2020-04-08)

#1114

Golf is a sport which encourages many to get out in the fresh air and exercise. Just as parks are important, so are golf courses.

Esther Cowper (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1115

It's vital that the greens have regular maintenance all our clubs are struggling and this would be the end of many clubs if this is not allowed

Christine Skou (Marton, 2020-04-08)

#1116

It is essential that we protect our greens for the future. It only requires one person to do this important role.

Mary Martin (ST ANDREWS HAMILTON, 2020-04-08)

#1117

I'm a keen golfer and it will take a long time to get course back to playable standard it matainence isn't carried out.

Jason Herrick (Lumsden, 2020-04-08)

#1118

I am a golfer and greens are a bubble for the green keepers

Ian Petrie (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#1121

I enjoy playing golf on New Zealand's beautiful golf course

Staffan Bruto (Falkoping, 2020-04-08)

#1123

It is essential to keep a good maitensbce schedule for specialist turf. I also dont see a problem as its such a vast space if one or more were working its easy to keep in excess of 2m apart.

Geoff Sanders (Stratford, 2020-04-08)

#1124

I feel that to neglect golf courses (along with other sporting venues) will cost a huge amount financially to restore, if it is possible at all once our lock down is completed. Having one (or 2) to maintain, at the very leased greens now will save many courses for the future. Supporting sport is supporting mental health and our over all long term recovery.

Anne Hodgins-Jones (Christchurch , 2020-04-08)

#1131

Because all the money my subs pay to play at beautiful gulf harbour will all go to waste if at least the greens don’t get tended too !!!! Cmon don’t let multi million dollar courses go to waste

Chad Meyer (Auckland , 2020-04-08)

#1132

We need them ready when we finally get off lock down! There is safe feesable ways of allowing this to happen.

Simon Wood (Auckland , 2020-04-08)

#1133

This is extremely important - common sense should prevail. It’s disgraceful that this petition should exist. Come on, do the right thing immediately!

Michael Morris (Auckland , 2020-04-08)

#1139

They should be allowed to look after their greens

Laura Simpson (Pukekohe, 2020-04-08)

#1144

Im a member of South Head golf club and if the greens are not maintained it could ruin our club and many others around the country.

John Rhind (Auckland , 2020-04-08)

#1145

This is a stupid decision
Yiu are allowing people to openly walk in their bubbles on streets parks beaches and recreation areas which a golf course is but not allowing a piece of basic maintenance by 1 single person to be carried out which is a necessity for the future livelihood and sustainability if the clubs if NZ

Neil Reid (Wellingtin, 2020-04-08)

#1148

It’s safe...and logical. And there’s no logical reason for these courses not to be maintained. Especially if council grounds are being mowed and maintained.

Kevin Smith (Otaki, 2020-04-08)

#1149

Golf courses are an integral part of our communities. It allows for green belts in our cities and provides gentle exercise for all who play.

Wendy Steedman (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1150

Sensible, safe option to not destroy value built over many hours and years.

Truman Macarthy (Whangarei, 2020-04-08)

#1152

These minimal maintenance tasks can be carried out following Covid 19 protocols. The tasks will not take long and doing these small things with health and safety in mind will save our golf courses from having large costs in the future to reinstate greens and other areas of golf courses.

Aaron OConnell (Auckland , 2020-04-08)

#1153

The residual cost of repair once Level 4 comes off and the need for all to return to normal life will be essential.

Philip Hannah (Wellington , 2020-04-08)

#1155

I believe essential golf course maintenance can happen while preserving social distance expectations.

Charles Purcell (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

#1158

I can see our golf club facilities going backwards everyday when I go for a walk and the cost to reinstate after many weeks will send us broke

Craig Wilson (Tauranga, 2020-04-08)

#1159

Outdoor work done by one person in isolation is as risk-free as it gets, and needs to be considered against the disproportionate physical and financial damage caused by unattended courses.

Peter Shirtcliffe (Wellington, 2020-04-08)

#1161

Because this is a ridiculous decision

Bruce Fleet (Nelson, 2020-04-08)

#1167

My husband and I play golf regularly. We are certainly missing the exercise and the challenge golf always presents as well as the social interaction. The maintenance of the course is essential and has a long term impact both on play and finances should it not be allowed to continue.

Angela Damen (Napier, 2020-04-08)

#1170

It is outrageous that courses can’t be maintained

Jenny Kerr (Mosgiel, 2020-04-08)

#1174

If no maintenance the course will take a very long time to recover

Jan Reed (Rangiora, 2020-04-08)

#1175

It’s the right thing to do

Sam Sullivan (Auckland, 2020-04-08)

#1178

Because it is logical to do it.

Steve Parkinson (Dunedin , 2020-04-08)

#1179

So many people play golf and if we don't look after our courses it will be a real shame. Golf is a sport for all ages from very young to the more mature. It is a sport I truly love & am missing. Please allow the golf course maintenance to be carried out during this time. If we don't it will take so much longer for the greens etc to get back to the state that they will be able to be played on again.

Rebecca Crosbie (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#1181

All sports will be a necessary thing for us to get some normality back
Where grounds can be maintained by a person working solo then I believe that grounds people should be able to carry out necessary work

John Barr (Christchurch, 2020-04-08)

#1185

If the course is not attended to, the cost and time of getting it back into playable condition will become too much for some older players

Lois Wills (Hastings, 2020-04-08)

#1187

I

Craig Oliver (WELLINGTON , 2020-04-08)

#1193

I'm a golfer

Gail whittle (Auckland , 2020-04-08)

#1194

It takes one person to keep the done.. And the bowling greens..

Christine Dell (Christchurch , 2020-04-08)

#1196

After many years of hard work and money we now have our golf course in great shape but it will go backwards very fast without maintenance and cost a lot to get it back to what it was.

Brian Reed (New Plymouth , 2020-04-08)

#1199

Its essential for mental health, for some people

Chris Sharpe (Kaiapoi, 2020-04-08)

#1200

Greens on Golf Courses are so important. If your Greens aren't kept in the best condition your Golf Course is in trouble

Karen Pattison (New Plymouth , 2020-04-08)
