The smell is disgusting also when a public presentation was made prior to the plant being commissioned one of the people I think from LHCC said "If it smells we will close it down"
YEAH RIGHT !!

It stinks, it is horrid, it detracts from enjoyment of the local area and it can easily be fixed with a bit of technology and investment.

Sick of the bad bad smell

Often there is a very strong smell and it’s not good for our visitors who stay opposite at the Holiday park or residents who drive past every day!

Clare Green (Lower hutt, 2021-11-20)

#210

Because it stinks driving to and from school

Will Hunt (Wellington, 2021-11-20)

The smell driving through this area is disgusting. I can’t believe those running the Waste Water Treatment Plant have gotten away with not addressing this issue years ago!

Katrina Rowe (Eastbourne, 2021-11-20)

Seaview, Eastbourne and the Wellington region deserve better

Philip Plimmer (Lower Hutt, 2021-11-20)

The stench has been going on intermittently ever since the plant opened. Clearly, it is not being properly managed. We deserve better in 2021.

Michael Beardsell (Lower Hutt, 2021-11-21)

I visit Eastbourne regularly and hate the smell at Seaview

I’m disturbed by the stench that emanates from the Seaview pumping station. It’s disgusting. It’s third world.

Graeme Sinclair (Lower Hutt , 2021-11-22)

I would like to see a cover on the treatment pools

I’m signing because I drive through Seaview everyday and my kids pay rugby in the Hutt Park. The smell is terrible and constant. It must effect thousands who work, live, visit and play in the area. This is not acceptable if a solution exists

Kate Males (Wellington , 2021-11-28)

#232

I am signing because I agree totally and that smell has got so bad recently that it will drive us out of the area after 40years

Many thanks to Chesca for initiating this

Lesley Lyver (Lower Hutt, 2021-11-29)

I'm signing because seaview workers and eastern bays residents should not have to suffer the stench of a third world waste disposal system when we pay the Council a disproportionate % of rates to deal with it.

John Lyver (Lower Hutt, 2021-11-29)

The stench is completely unacceptable in this day and age. Thoroughly abhorrent to residents, workers and visitors.

Gill Watt (Lower Hutt, 2021-11-29)

I’ve lost business because potential owners don’t want to work with the smell in the air. And as a resident driving past at least 4 times a day, I think surely there must be a solution to this.

Duncan Povey (Lower Hutt, 2021-12-08)

The stench from this treatment plant is a health hazard. We are forced to inhale potentially toxic fumes.

Because no one should have to put up with that smell while working. Also lately the smell is reaching my home in Point Howard and I am having to close the windows sometimes to keep out the smell. It is not OK. Something can and must be done

Jeremy Barker (Lower Hutt , 2022-02-04)

I have worked in Gough St for almost a year and find this ongoing smell revolting and totally unacceptable. Get it sorted HCC.

I'm signing because I'm sick (figuratively and literally) of the smell we have to put up with when the wind is blowing from a southerly direction.

Paul Ross (Lower Hutt, 2023-12-08)

The smell has been getting worse and worse in Waterloo/Woburn/Waiwhetu area and makes opening windows for going outside for ‘fresh’ air redundant.

Andrew Brooks (Lower Hutt, 2023-12-09)

I live in hinemoa street and the smell is getting worse. The creek us always dirty and it never used to be. The creek also floods a lit mire now

I've been noticing a very unpleasant odour in my yard for about two months or so now. I live in Waterloo. At times, it's disgusting, depending on the way the wind is blowing. Smells like a sewer pipe has burst. I noticed I can no longer go outside for long or go out everyday or I get very unwell and have to take refuge indoors for up to two days in order to try and recover, only to get sick again once I go back outside. I no longer open my windows or doors and have to use fans in the heat. I may simply be more sensitive or it's caused by an unrelated issue. But coincidentally it seemed to coincide with noticing the smell. Either way, life has become pretty miserable. I used to enjoy being outside, especially with my animals. Now it's become an unsafe environment.

it is absolutely disgusting that people should have to put up with this stench. HCC need to get rid of the mayors office and use that money for fixing this stinky problem

Geoff Thomson (Lower Hutt, 2023-12-10)

I am a resident of Moera and I am totally disagree with the stench, it is disgusting. We should not tolerate this unhealthy environment.
