Won’t be holidaying if we can’t bring our dog

Jane & Steve Kitto (Invercargill, 2022-01-31)

#9

I have lived in Te Anau and often walked to the shops and always had to leave my dog at home when it would've been nice to take him on a walk with us

Amber Steffens-Lind (Rolleston, 2022-01-31)

#11

We have 3 small dogs we want to be able to walk down our local Main Street without getting a fine!

Mel Gaudin (Te anau, 2022-01-31)

#13

Te Anau has become such an unfriendly place fir humans and dogs! Time this changed

Sacha Macrae (TE ANAU , 2022-01-31)

#16

I have 2 dogs myself

Andrew Monk (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#20

We have always walked our dogs around and through the town centre, including the supermarkets and cafes. If anything they attracted positive attention from the public, especially those from overseas missing their own dogs

Bronnie Chamberlain (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#23

I can’t see a reason why dogs on leads shouldn’t be allowed in town. They aren’t being a nuisance and I actually love to see them.

Heather Naylor (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#24

I am an ex local and like to visit often to see family and friends. We always bring our dog and other towns and cities we go is dog friendly and even encourages them with dog bowls, dog hitching areas, and out door spaces. The current rules are archaic and not visitor or local friendly at all which is out of touch and old fashioned!!!!!!!

Rubecca Soper-Hazlett (Christchurch, 2022-01-31)

#25

I dont see why not! Would love to see them around. As long as they are well mannered and on lead 😀 saves them from getting cooked inside a hot car

Shilpi Thornhill (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#27

Stop being old fashioned and live in the modern day. Allow them in the main street on leads!

Jack Thornhill (Te anau , 2022-01-31)

#28

I don’t like leaving my dog in the car in the heat

Betty Barnes (Invecargill, 2022-01-31)

#29

It's about the only town that doesn't allow dogs, "it's just dumb" as my six year old would say..

Nick Barnes (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#31

I visit Te Anau all the time and I always bring my dog, I grew up in Te Anau and my dog was always welcome in the town

Mike Yeates (Rolleston, 2022-01-31)

#36

I agree dogs should be allowed in te anau on leads

Leisa Parish (Gore, 2022-01-31)

#37

I believe you should be able to take your fur baby down the street for walk and get a coffee. On a lead..

Vicky McCallum (Te anau, 2022-01-31)

#40

Im signing because dogs are important to the mental health and happiness of responsible pet owners. There is no need to restrict if dogs are in control of thier owners.

KJ Jennings (Queenstown , 2022-01-31)

#41

I believe dogs should be allowed in the town centre if they are on a lead. Alot of towns/cities we have visited encourage dogs even having water bowls outside at cafes etc for them.

Kathleen Christie (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#45

As an ex local, I'd love to be able to walk my dog in town, while I visit. It's such a huge inconvenience, for locals and visitors alike.

Tracey Dainty (Christchurch , 2022-01-31)

#47

I would love to see people walking their dogs down the street. It might even boost NZ tourism to our town.

Carrie Anne Pritchard (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#49

Damian Pearce (Te anau, 2022-01-31)

Casey Brown (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#54

I have a dog

Erin Robertson (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#55

I think this is a wonderful idea!

Kate Norris (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#56

I'm signing because I want te anau to be a dog friendly town. I would love to be able to take my dog down the main street on a lead and also it may put off visitors coming to town because of this.

Michelle Grant (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#57

I’m signing because I have a dog.

Eleanor Cook (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#61

I wot to be able to tack my dog for a walk to the shop and my kids love doing it to. I do it enyway and nathing is said so I keep on doing it

Khyle Brookland (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#62

I am a responsible dog owner who would enjoy our town more with being able to take our dog to cafes or even just walk through town!!

Dominique Hayes (Te Anau , 2022-01-31)

#64

I have previously voted to allow dogs in the town centre, it's archaic not to allow this and prevents dog owners from socialising their dogs

Sinéad Mulhern (Te Anau , 2022-01-31)

#65

I visit Te Anau and would be nice to be able to walk out dog through town.

Ruth Forbes (Invercargill, 2022-01-31)

#66

It's illegal to leave a dog in a vehicle on a hot day.
Te Anau needs to catch up with the rest of the world. Europe hospitality businesses are mostly dog friendly. Another negative
businesses will have to endure if dogs aren't welcome.
Easy fix dogs: Dogs on a lead at all times. Muzzle Passes for grumpy dogs. We are the team of 2000😜😜

Dave Vernon (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#68

I wish to walk my dog up the main street and stop for a coffee.

Jennifer Hamilton (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#69

I would like to have to option to take my dog with me on a lead .

Michelle Downie (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#70

I have 2 well behaved dogs that I like to take everywhere with me

Brooke Ogilvie (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#71

I believe the current law as it stands is outdated and ridiculous. It is a detractor for visitors to not be a pet friendly town and as a southland ratepayer and dog registration payer I can't fathom why I would be fined for walking my dog on a leash down the main street.

Rachel Kincaid (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#73

Own a section in Te Anau and will become a local dog owner

Kirsty BraybrooKirsty Braybrook (Upper Hutt, 2022-01-31)

#74

Frequent visitor to Te Anau. I fully support this change.

Mike Bunn (Christchurch, 2022-01-31)

#75

I’m signing because the no dog rule is outdated and we need to catch up with the times

Aaron Loader (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#76

Well behaved dogs should be allowed in the town centre.

Rachael Brown (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#78

I’m signing because I often visit family in my home town of Te Anau and appose this stupid rule that is so backward. You need all the visitors you can in Te Anau and this is only another reason for people to not visit.

Fraser Turner (Beachlands , 2022-01-31)

#79

I believe that the law is outdated and never properly enforced anyway, its ok all over nz already!!

Jeremy Trumper (Invercargill , 2022-01-31)

#83

It’s a silly rule and should be amended

Karen Townsend (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#85

I'm signing because I have a dog who I love to take places with me.

Hannah Mustor (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#86

We have a dog and it would be great to be able to take him for a walk when we go to do messages.

Lynley Ingham (West Melton, 2022-01-31)

#91

I'm signing because dogs are allowed on leads in the rest of town. It is inconvenient and nonsensical that dogs not be allowed to be walked in the main street area.

Kylie Krippner (Te Anau , 2022-01-31)

#92

Having experienced many dog friendly European cities there is no reason this could not work in Te Anau and should also have a positive effect to increase potential clientele especially in cafes

Annabel Riley (Winton, 2022-01-31)

#94

Iam signing because we would like to be able to take our dog when walking downtown

Doug Riley (Te Anau , 2022-01-31)

#95

Am a responsible dog owner and would enjoy the privilege of taking our dogs to cafes etc as can in most other locations.

Glen Greaves (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#98

It will help the town attract visitors

Debbie Gamble (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#99

I own dogs

David Veitch (TeAnau , 2022-01-31)

#105

I'm a responsible dog owner who would love to be able to take my dog when my children and I walk through town to pick up a coffee or groceries etc
All other places we've lived or visited have accommodated dogs outside cafes and the like.
It seems really off to exclude my well behaved dog on a lead from walking down the main street with me, yet my four children can run wild and cause many problems for other street users. Doesn't make sense to me at all.

Jamie Dale (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#110

I often walk my dog in Teanau and it would be nice to be able to have her in town walking to meet friends

Karen Cowan (Winton, 2022-01-31)

#112

Everywhere else I go with my three dogs and 3 kids I can take them around towns. Small or big. Te anau where I visit monthly I can take my kids out of the car but not my dogs. I’m over it. Every other town has dog bowls, lead ties available but no te anau is just black out. It’s well over due to be white washed!!!

Annalise Butson (Invercargill, 2022-01-31)

#113

It is inhumane to expect visitors to keep dogs locked in cars in summer heat.
And- I have some friends who will not return to Te Anau because of the dog ban

Barbara Lee (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#115

I believe that we need to keep up with the times. If we are advertising Te Anau as a place to visit embrace dog owners. Dogs should be able to accompany the owner for a walk down the Main Street . So long as they keep to the Dog owners protocol.

Inger Nicholson (Manapouri, 2022-01-31)

#123

We’ve bought a great little holiday home in Te Anau and love that our dog can come too. We don’t support local businesses as much as we would if we could take her with us when we go for a coffee, walk the Main Street etc.

Ursula McEntyre (Dunedin, 2022-01-31)

#127

I am a dog owner

Ollie Jackson (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#128

In most cities and townships dogs are considered family members and allowed in all public streets on leash. There are plastic bags available.

Christine Keown (Te Nau, 2022-01-31)

#130

I have a pet dog, it would be awesome to take her with me when I’m out and about.
I also think it add to the town centre vibe

Annette Leith (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#131

I want my friends to live in a dog friendly community

Tammy Reeves (Christmas , 2022-01-31)

#136

As a regular visitor, we would love to be free to walk our dog through Te Anau and enjoy a coffee at a cafe with them there too as we can in many other destinations.

Rachel Dolan (Winton, 2022-01-31)

#137

I have lived in Te Anau for nearly 20 years, always owned dogs and feel as a responsible dog owner dogs should be allowed in the town centre as in other towns across NZ

Jane Manaena (Invercargill , 2022-01-31)

#139

We spend lots of time in Te Anau and always have our border terrier with us. He is very good in town and we hate having to leave him behind.

Sara Tither (Wanaka, 2022-01-31)

#144

We go to Te Anau a lot & take our dogs. Would be nice to be able to walk our dogs in town

Rochelle Weller (Mataura , 2022-01-31)

#146

My dog loves coming out with us and it’s nice to wander into town, have a coffee and get some groceries with him

Jo Johns (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#150

Long overdue to allow dogs to be part of daily activities. Beneficial for people and dogs alike.

Barbara Kane (Te Anau, 2022-01-31)

#151

Dogs should be allowed in all public areas if controlled

Daniel Nieuwenhuyse (Te anau, 2022-01-31)

#153

I am a local and so are my parents, this is an old law that does not suit the lifestyles of many people now a days and we need to make changes because of COVID-19, pet friendly town will attract more people. Make the change.

Evans Yuanita (Te Anau, 2022-02-01)

#156

I believe our fur companions should be allowed downtown on leads.

Kim McElligott (Te Anau, 2022-02-01)

#160

Other towns in NZ have demonstrated that allowing dogs on leads in their town centres presents no problems.

Bob Perry (Te Anau, 2022-02-01)

#161

I love dogs & would be great to see them on the main street.

Tania Cullinan (Te Anau, 2022-02-01)

#167

Pets are a part of people's families. We should be able to walk around town with them.

Anna Thomas (Te Anau, 2022-02-01)

#168

I'd love Te Anau to move with the times send be more dog friendly

Nicole Daley (Te Anau, 2022-02-01)

#170

We want to be a family friendly town and seem to be only town that doesn't allow it
So backward it's wrong...

Jackie Knowles (Te Anau, 2022-02-01)

#173

I would like to take my dogs down the street

Clearwater Danielle (Te Anau, 2022-02-01)

#174

It’s a stupid rule, business are loosing money, who made this stupid rule dogs are family, punish the bad owners, not the whole Comunity and visitors.

Terie Thompson (Richmond, 2022-02-01)

#177

I have always had dogs, I'm respectful of people of people who don't have dogs, but we all need to live together.

Wayne Brook (Perth , 2022-02-01)

#183

Dogs are apart of the family and should be allowed to come to lunch and to cafes.

Zara Taylor (Te Anau , 2022-02-01)

#186

I'm a dog owner

Robertson Stuart (Queenstown , 2022-02-01)

#187

I have a house in Te Anau and also have a small dog that I take every where. I want to be able to have a coffee while taking him for a walk. He is under control and doesn’t generally leave my side.

Penny White (Owaka, 2022-02-01)

#188

I think it’s ridiculous the locals or visitors can not walk the furry companions down the street.

Melanie Wilson (Te Anau, 2022-02-01)

#189

I think it would be nice for dog owners to take their pets to restaurants etc. In London dogs are allowed just about everywhere and all the shops have water bowls out for them.

Shirley Black (Te Anau, 2022-02-01)

#190

We cannot visit Te Anau during the summer if forced to leave our well behaved dogs in the car.

Rebecca Gilmore (Roxburgh, 2022-02-02)

#193

We have a crib in Te Anau and it's our dog's 2nd home. It's a pain not being able to take him for a walk that involves stopping for a drink.

Brian Ingham (West Melton, 2022-02-02)

#198

The existing rule is ridiculous

Dawn Dowling (Te Anau, 2022-02-02)
