Had many fun days at Esk park in my younger days. I’m returning to Napier next year And would love to picnic there again.

Garry Armstrong (Auckland, 2020-08-22)

#603

This park is too beautiful to turn into a bike park

Selena Porter (Napier, 2020-08-22)

#605

I'm signing because i grew up in napier, and enjoyed regular outings to eskdale park and river. I recently visited it during summer - it still held its simple beauty and peacefulness. It would be a real shame to lose that.

Carole Jones (Taupo, 2020-08-22)

#606

Me and my family would go to this park on a regular bases. It is one of those beautiful iconic places that should preserved for all to share always

Ronda Ripia (Yandina, 2020-08-22)

#607

I used to go there with my nan and koro
Who has now passd on when i was a little girl living in bay view. I have alot of family remembers here

Aroha Taane (Auckland, 2020-08-23)

#609

I too grew up here and what a wonderful park, many family times here. I’m back from Auckland and want to spend time there again!

Sandy Starr (Napier, 2020-08-23)

#610

We love this family park. It should stay as one definitely

Lorraine Deadman (Napier , 2020-08-23)

#611

I enjoyed my childhood summertime there with my kids

BILL DOUGLAS (NAPIER, 2020-08-23)

#613

I’m signing because this is a peaceful Family Park, and should remain a tranquil place of relaxation for future generations.
It’s use as a mountain bike hub will render it useless for quiet family activities.

Tony Crarer (Hastings, 2020-08-24)

#614

This is a very special place. As children we would spend all Summers there up and down the river creating wonderful memories. Memories I hope to be able to create with my children in the future.

Elyse Ripia (Melbourne, 2020-08-24)

#617

I disagree

Gaile Thompson (Napier , 2020-08-24)

#618

HDC has already ripped the Havelock North community apart, pitting walkers v bikers by turning the previously safe and pleasant Tainui Reserve into an un-safe, unregulated, un-monitored mountain bike park. Managers Colin Hosford, Craig Thew and Chris Freeman provided the Council back in 2014 with misinformation and false assurances. Council admitted that they had failed to carry out any due diligence, risk assessment or Health and Safety plan before allowing the Bennelong Mountain Bike Club to put in the track. As far as I am concerned the Council has destroyed Tainui. I support the petitioners and hope they can stop the Council's plans before Eskdale Park is ruined.

Jessica Maxwell (Havelock North, 2020-08-25)

#619

This was a place we visited frequently as a swim spot as a child. We also had awesome games of cricket in the big open space. It's a really nice place for my grandkids and many other families during summer. To lose that to an unsightly track would be a shame. Why not put more picnic facilities in and make it more welcoming for freedom camping for families.

Dawn Lindsay (Napier, 2020-08-25)

#620

I regularly visit Eskdale Park and enjoy sitting by the river there and walking the dog. Last summer I mentioned it to extended whanau as a great place for our multi generations to meet and enjoy a day together. This is only possible because of its status as a green rural park. Please keep it... if we lose that we will lose it forever. There are not enough of these open, family-friendly multi use spaces in Hawke's Bay and especially not beside a swimmable river.
Thanks...

Jenny Elliott (Havelock North, 2020-08-25)

#622

I'm signing because we have all too few open green spaces, and I am concerned that the proposed development with mean the park is no longer safe for families.

Margaret Gwynn (Napier, 2020-08-26)

#623

Our family park we go to with the kids to enjoy a peaceful beautiful area And playground. Couldn’t see it get ruined my childhood will go with it

Paige Tregonning (Hastings , 2020-08-27)

#625

Leave the park alone. We don’t need another mountain bike park.

Trish Holis (Bay View, 2020-08-29)

#629

I feel strongly that the park remain in it's natural state. There are so few places you can go so close to Napier to get away from it all and enjoy the peace this park provides along with the beautiful Esk River for a dip.

Karen Temple (Napier, 2020-08-29)

#630

Keeping it natural allows all families and pensioners to use it

Merv Le'Quesne (Napier, 2020-08-29)

#636

I grew up spending summers picnicking and playing with my siblings, cousins and friends at Eskdale Park. Playing cricket, swimming in the river, exploring and having adventures. It's an iconic piece of growing up in Hawkes Bay. Please don't take it away to be destroyed by hoons with bikes. Please preserve this family space

Toni Orlando (Geelong, 2020-08-29)

#641

It’s a beautiful Park and I grew up in Eskdale and have very very fond memories of family and friends, picnics, swimming, cricket, bull rush ......... the list goes on. Leave our Park as it is ❤️

Jen Brownlie (Napier, 2020-08-29)

#644

Eskdale Park is beautiful an peaceful for time out in this busy world we live in please leave it s it is.

Mary Corbishley (Napier , 2020-08-29)

#646

Sometimes a park can just be a park. Fond memories of family picnics and cricket matches at this one.

Deborah Burnside (Napier, 2020-08-29)

#648

This park is one of the few reserves and the only one in the valley, where dogs can run off lead, without interaction from cyclists. Mountain bikers already have a number of places where they can ride, make one of the existing bike areas a hub. This park isa quiet and peaceful place, ideal for families, picnics, and safe swimming in the summer. Should be retained as it is

Kerry Ansell (Napier, 2020-08-30)

#649

This beautiful park needs to stay how it is our family love driving out here from town to enjoy the peacefulness and our kids love exploring the park and being able to play and run around freely. If you were to add anything maybe some of the councils bbq that have been put at other public areas. Please don’t change the park i love it and so does our family.

Katherine Russ (Napier, 2020-08-30)

#650

For years as a family individually and our church have enjoyed this fabulous green area ... so unspoilt. Hate to see it changed

Diane Fairley (Napier, 2020-08-30)

#653

I wish to preserve the park as a natural green space. There are endless bike parks and bike trails in the area. Not here please

Katie Verity (Hawkes Bay , 2020-08-30)

#654

this was gifted so that families could relax swim and play by introducing bikes to this park will take all that away and raise multiple safety issues as there selfish attitudes show they dont respect the rules of the roads or any path way user's also they have a whole forest network to use across the river

Neil Robertson (Whirinaki Napier, 2020-08-30)

#655

Me and my family love it how it is I was taken there as a child many times, and then took my children now we are taking my grandchildren and hopefully one day great grandchildren as my mum does now with us

janet DEADMAN (NAPIER, 2020-08-30)

#658

I want it to stay as it is.

David Ranapiri (Napier , 2020-08-30)

#659

I use the park weekly and love it for its quiet peace. There are already enough bike areas. Plus our dog is a rescue dog and this is the area she feel safe enough to run freely.

Janice Strachan (Napier, 2020-08-30)

#662

I live in Bayview and use the park often I hope it is not deve and we lose such a beautiful area

Bronwyn Smith (NAPIER, 2020-08-31)

#666

To show my support.

Jay Bartlett (Clive, 2020-08-31)

#670

This park should be left for many more generations to enjoy

Jamaine Rissetto (Napier, 2020-09-01)

#671

This park is untouched has beautiful character about where we can walk play and enjoy a rural landscape without influences of town, we have a beautiful river right there. Why would you want to cut it up? Leave it alone.

Desiree Taunoa (Napier, 2020-09-01)

#672

The park is invaluable as it is. Leave it alone.

Pam Kohlid (Napier, 2020-09-01)

#674

Too many bike tracks everywhere now

Phillip Coker (Napier, 2020-09-02)

#677

Our families & friends enjoyed afterschool swims & picnics & BBQs here in past years. Now gt/g/children want to do likewise. Please do not change!

Marion Fell (Napier, 2020-09-03)

#679

The land was bequeathed by the Clark’s to be a natural space used by the community.

Ross Goldsbury (Napier, 2020-09-05)

#680

I live here that needs to stay the same

Viv Bell (Eskdale, 2020-09-06)

#683

It's such a special place

Robyn Neale (Kerikeri , 2020-09-06)

#684

I want a park for swimming and playing

Kylie Howard (Napier, 2020-09-06)

#685

Selina Brown (Napier , 2020-09-06)

#686

I grew up going to this park as did family before me, would be a shame to develop such a beautiful place

Joe Smith (Gold coast, 2020-09-06)

#688

I want to keep the lovely park which is so good for families and their pets. I have picnics there.

Erika Zimprich (Napier, 2020-09-06)

Liam Pratt (Napier, 2020-09-06)

#691

ive been going to that park since the 70s its historic

Terrance hubbard (napier, 2020-09-06)

#693

Beautiful natural spaces close to urban areas are a rare commodity these days and deserve protection

Ngahiraka Hawkins (Napier, 2020-09-06)

#694

This is a beautiful park untouched and should stay this way great for family picnics, and safe, without cycles and crowds. My family was born there and raised in eskdale.

Kaz Kendrick (Waipukurau , 2020-09-06)

#695

It’s should be left untouched
And open for the public as a place to escape to nature
Not targeted to one group of occupants

Laticia Webley (Napier , 2020-09-06)

#696

Eskdale Park is beautiful environment for families to enjoy as it is.

Nicki Lugt (Napier, 2020-09-06)

#698

I love future thinking and progress but in this case follow the natural landscape and enjoy instead of man made money and more money to make and maintain.

Lana MacKay (Napier , 2020-09-06)

#700

If people keep developing/destroying what little land we have left in small New Zealand there will be nothing left for future generations to enjoy protect what land we have left before there is nothing

Elaine TAUKAMO (Napier, 2020-09-06)

#702

I want Eskdale Park to remain as a family park where all ages can make lasting memories of togetherness and fun. This park should be designated for families & friends to gather, BBQ, enjoy a game of cricket etc while feeling the tranquility of being in the country. I have very happy memories of enjoying Christmas Parties, making teams of all generations to play games and hours exploring the park. In stead of being in the kitchen Mum would be out with everyone enjoying the day, finishing off with a meal already prepared.

Dorothy Barraclough (Napier, 2020-09-08)

#705

I believe this is beautiful taonga where people get wedding photos taken, have big Christmas events without encroaching on others. Can take their families for peaceful days out. Why do you want to take this away and put a big ugly tarmac car park in. The HB has multiple bike tracks and why do we need another one. Why is the current local mountain bike park not good enough? What were the health and safety concerns that shut it down. Who thinks they have the right to take a gifted park and change its original intend. Why has public funds been spent ?$30K on plans. We have kereru who use this park. Protect our manu. I’d rather have my rubbish collected & recycling area out this way.

Kate Te Pou (Napier , 2020-09-10)

#706

Eskdale park is beautiful just the way it is. Leave it alone and go ride your bikes somewhere else.

Jo Oneill (Napier, 2020-09-10)

#707

I am signing this petition because it is a beautiful spot and there are box tracks available already that get very little use. Some are not we maintained either. Maybe that is the problem. Not building a new one.

Kim Southerden (Napier, 2020-09-10)

#708

I do not want to see a great family park turned into yer another cycling park. Cyclists are already well catered for.

Allan Ching (Napier, 2020-09-12)

#710

I am signing because I like it being a natural rural environment where calm peaceful enjoyment of the river and park can happen. Too many public spaces in Hawkes Bay are over manicured and managed to turn them into some form of amusement settings rather that a place to enjoy the natural environment at a slow and peaceful pace. Too few restful natural public spaces exist for Hawkes Bay urban dwellers to enjoy. Such places are vital to mental health for all members of society!!!

Petrea Andersen (Napier, 2020-09-13)

#711

I go there with family and pets it's a wonderful natural environment and safe for kids and pets to enjoy
The shade from trees amazing please don't takje it away from families

Teresa Makris (Hawkes bay, 2020-09-14)

#717

I am signing because this is the only lovely safe riverside park suitable for families in the Napier Hastings area. It has been used by my family for many years and we love the peace and quiet under the trees with the beautiful river running by where the children can play safely and experience the outdoors.

Elizabeth Pishief (Napier, 2020-09-14)

#720

I visit Eskdale regularly as a quiet restful holiday sanctuary. The mtb park will destroy the ambience and natural feeling of the park.

Anita Jones (Wellington , 2020-09-15)

#721

I would like the Eskdale Park to stay as it was originally intended as a peaceful place for picnics with families and friends.

Esther Holt (RD 2 Napier, 2020-09-15)

#722

My mother Esther Holt (nee Clark) is the last surviving grandchild of Thomas Clark who gifted the land for Eskdale Park in 1915.
She has fond memories as a child having very enjoyable picnics with family and friends.
Six generations of my family have used and are still using the park as was originally intended. Being able to drive to the Park, park your vehicle, put a rug down and enjoy the peace and tranquility of a country Park and share a meal, have a swim and/or play a game has been happening for over 100 years. This tradition must be able to continue for other multi-generational families as well and also for those who are making their first visit to the Eskdale Park.

Please respect the generous gift of Thomas Clark.

Philip Holt (RD 2 Napier, 2020-09-15)

#723

We as a Family have enjoyed Eskdale as a Natural reserve to unwind. Regardless of age we have had many special occasions over the years, from one generation to the next. ( 6 Generation) The Park should remain exactly as it is now.

Paul King (Hastings, 2020-09-16)

#724

His is where I got married also every family christmas with my children now a 20 year tradition

Teresa King (Hastings, 2020-09-16)

#725

I'm signing because this is the best park in hawkes bay, and needs to be saved for future families, not ruined.

Godfrey Jensen (Napier, 2020-09-16)

#727

Eskdale Park is part of my family history (have photos back to 1946 Railway picinics) Each year since then we as a family have visited the park on thousands of occasions. This is part of Napier's history. Please don't destroy this lovely park.

Trish Johnston (Napier, 2020-09-17)

#729

Love eskdale park

Brendan Gilder (Napier , 2020-09-18)

#730

I've enjoyed family fun times and community fun days at esk Park

Mike taane (Napier , 2020-09-18)

#731

Eskdale park is a wonderful place for family to get together, and we have so few places where we can swim safely while having facilities and play areas so close.

Holly Nelson (Napier, 2020-09-18)

#732

my extended family has enjoyed an annual picnic \get-together at Eskdale Park for many years.

Ross Dunn (Hamilton, 2020-09-18)

#733

I am from Napier and over the years have had many happy and fun picnics at the Eskdale park keep it as a park

Linda Kirby (Auckland, 2020-09-18)

#734

I am totally opposed to any changes to the purpose for which this park was designated when gifted.

Elizabeth Thomas (Napier, 2020-09-18)

#736

I spend alot of family time there

Jayde Pearson (Hawkesbay, 2020-09-18)

#737

I am signing because I am against eskdale park being used as a camping ground. - go somewhere else. These camping facilities r taking over good family parks. Bike access to mth park can b set up in other leased out land

Heather Bates (Napier , 2020-09-18)

#739

Childhood memories

Monica Smith (Dapto, 2020-09-19)

#743

It should be left as lovely as it is for all to enjoy

Gillian Allison (Hastings, 2020-09-20)

#744

Eskdale Park is part of my heritage and memories of frequent family picnics there, both when I was a child and with my own children with our extended family. I want to make the same wonderful memories with my grandchildren. It is a special place to relax, explore, have fun, and spend time with family. Please don't let it become a place for just a limited number of people.

Lynda Otter (Napier, 2020-09-20)

#745

I can see the detrimental effect that mountain biking is having on Te Mata Peak and there are ample other places where mountain bikers can go.

Ian Noble (Hastings, 2020-09-20)

#748

I grew up in Eskdale and Te Pohue, this park was donated to the community as a reserve. My father still farms in the district.

I have attended events for school, NZ young farmers and federated farmers there over the years.

Kathleen Andrews (Napier, 2020-09-21)

#750

I grew up in Bay View and spent many summers up at the river with friends and family. We have picnics and played cricket. It was always a family orientated place, peaceful and tranquil. It is still used to day. Its a place of beauty and not a place to wrecked dug up and bastardised

Simon Robertson (Napier, 2020-09-21)

#752

I brought my family up in Bay View, and we spent many happy hours at this park.
Why ruin a perfectly lovely spot, to make a mountain bike hub, that only a few can enjoy?
As it is all age groups can enjoy this lovely area.

Audrey Greenwood (Palmerston North, 2020-09-22)

#754

I use and love Eskdale Park just as it is. The open space, birdlife and wonderful mature trees and new native plantings Schools, family groups and many visitors make great use of this Park.

Lorraine Wolfe (NAPIER, 2020-09-22)

#755

Keep the space quite and safe from speeding wheeled things

Andy Smith (Auckland, 2020-09-22)

#756

It's a great open family space..

Michelle Moody (Napier, 2020-09-23)

#758

Special place to me my partner and our children

Jessica Shannnon (Hastings , 2020-09-23)

#759

We use this parks multiple times a week to walk our two dogs. It is such as great space for them to run free and picnic and swim, we would be gutted to lose this spot for our family.

Amy Kim (Napier, 2020-09-23)

#760

I love Eskdale Park for the natural green space that is provided for our families. Being able to park under a tree close to the river with a picnic while the kids are swimming ect. is a must. Developing tar seal or concrete car parks and roads at the park will mean I can’t park under the tree by the river when I take my grandchild and his friends. Keep the park as it is with it’s beautiful ambience and green space.

Jacqui Kells (Napier , 2020-09-23)

#763

I have a lot of happy memories of Eskdale Park. Railway picnicss Guyfox nights etc. ,when i was a child growing up in Eskdale.

Heather Price (Tokoroa, 2020-09-24)

#765

Due to the many happy years we spent at the river and in the park when we were school age I would love to see this preserved by retaining as a reserve.

Patsy Hill (Tokoroa, 2020-09-24)

#766

We regularly use the park for family gatherings and other recreational events. We urge the HDC to protect the park as a natural reserve and green space. I am certain there are other sites that could be developed by the HB Mountain Bike Club for their use. Hands off our park!

Karen Josephs (Napier, 2020-09-24)

#767

Eskdale Park should be a reserve for all people to enjoy.. not just a select few or those pursuing personal interests

Wayne Anstis (Albany Auckland, 2020-09-24)

#768

The current trend to open up formerly peaceful public recreation spaces to the invasive activities of mountain biking must be resisted. People are entitled to enjoy quiet, undisturbed walks/runs. I urge Hastings District Council to consider it's responsibilities, and stop the trend toward turning public recreational areas over to mountain biking, to serve the interests of a few.

Wellesley Binding (Hastings, 2020-09-24)

#769

I grew up ther.and its a natural environmental space to keep preserved.

Kathleen warner (napier, 2020-09-25)

#770

Please leave it as it is. I enjoy meeting up with friends and walking our dogs there.

Faye Anderson (Napier, 2020-09-25)

#772

I’m signing because there are not many places left to take your children to play, swim, fish for fresh silver belly eels, explore, etc. Some of my best childhood memories were camping there with my sister and Dad.

Christine Coulson (Melbourne , 2020-09-28)

#774

I love eskdale park just the way it is I grew up going there and want all future generations to share in this wonderful park just the way it is.

Helen Pirie (Taradale, Napier, 2020-10-08)

#775

this space is meant to be used as a park by everyone not just for one type of recreation

desmond pledger (Napier, 2020-10-08)

#776

We live in Bayview on Hill Road and wish to conserve Eskdale Park as it is, for the future generations, nature is precious

Wendy Bryce (Napier, 2020-10-12)

#778

Myself, my son and my 4 grandchildren have spent many happy hours over the years picnicking and wading upstream and enjoying the feeling of peace and tranquility only nature can give you. A true panacea for mental well-being that a pill does not provide.

Erica Jit (Napier, 2020-10-12)

#779

I am new to the area and want to keep things as they are, natural and non commercial

Kaye Le Gros (Napier , 2020-10-12)

#782

The park was gifted as a green space for the community and is very well used as such. The proposed development will radically alter the 'feel' of the park and will not cater to the needs of a large section of the public.

Sarah Phipps (Napier RD2, 2020-10-14)

#784

I think the Park should remain for most park users. The Cycle trail does notneed to come into the existing area which is a quiet area for all to use.

Neil Eagles (Napier, 2020-10-15)

#786

Keep the park how it is to achieve the greatest good for the greatest number.

I'm Passionate that the Eskdale Park retains it's natural beauty and amazing seasonal aesthetics. It is currently used by a greater number people from different walks of life than it would ever be if targeted to Mountain Bikers.

Victoria Housden (Napier, 2020-10-19)

#787

Eskdale reserve should be left as is, in its unspoiled state and not hijacked by a self interest group at locals expense. It is a public domain, not to be set aside for the few. There is a mountain bike park/track etc at Pan Pac, the mountain bike club can go there.

Stuart Dunlop (Napier, 2020-10-19)

#797

I believe it needs to remain a park for all with open spaces

Clinton Green (Napier, 2020-10-24)

#800

I'm signing because the park & river is an important natural playground & doesn't need fiddling with by anyone, least of all counsel's & self interested groups. Leave nature alone.
