SAVE TAURANGA BAY & NINE MILE FROM BECOMING A 24/7 INDUSTRIAL TRUCKING ROUTE

Its wrong, and my property will be affected by this debarkle!

Lorree Wilson (Blenheim, 2021-08-14)

#204

The proposal is in conflict with the Governments objective for this part of the West Coast and is in conflict with the Buller District Councils broader environmental objectives. Using the selected roads will create safety hazards and environmental damage and amenity degradation and I am bitterly opposed to Chinas use of these materials which expands its military capability and danger to Pacific countries and the world in general.

Antony James Bartley (Westport, 2021-08-14)

#211

Terrible disruption to nature, by product is radioactive material. Site will never be the same no matter what they claim. This must not proceed.

Rachel Holland (Picton , 2021-08-14)

#212

We should not be doing that anywhere

Nicole Thompsett (Blenheim , 2021-08-14)

#219

I do not agree with this.

Kelly Forbes (Blenheim, 2021-08-14)

#222

I do not want this to happen to our beautiful spot of paradise.

Lyn Samartino (Westport, 2021-08-14)

#232

This is a huge health risk to all neighboring properties. Let alone the land stability for the closest neighbour, the noise, the light, the environment!

Julie Cadwallender (Blenheim, 2021-08-14)

#233

This should not be allowed to happen

Katie Ashdown (Blenheim, 2021-08-14)

My wife and I and our three young children will be directly affected by proposed trucking routes that propose to drive right past our property. The road is used by our children to walk along to catch the school bus. The Nine mile/Tauranga bay area is one of natural beauty used and frequented by locals, visitors, surfers, cyclists and runners alike all whose experience and at times safety will be affected by the proposed mining operation and subsequent trucking movements.
The proposed operation is also in complete conflict with the kawatari cycle trail who require to safely guide cyclists through this beautiful part of NZ. To a large degree these will be visitors to our area and the trails success and positive reflection on our district is built on showcasing our natural beauty not exposing these visitors to an industrial operation.

Mark Wiechern (Tauranga bay road Westport, 2021-08-14)

#239

The number of truck movements and trucking route is concerning considering our children are forced to walk on the same road to catch the school bus. This is a serious safety issue in addition to the number of cyclists using the Kawatiri Trail.

Emily Wiechern (Westport, 2021-08-14)

#245

This treasured part of the coast needs to be left alone. It is not fair on the locals that live there (people & animals!) and will have a detrimental effect to the environment as well.

Sophie Carrick (Marlborough , 2021-08-14)

#247

I strongly oppose to this

Debbie Morton (Charleston , 2021-08-14)

#256

Our beautiful environment needs protecting and so do the boarding property owners.

Sharleen Marfell (Blenheim , 2021-08-15)

#258

It is environmentally and socially unsound. The proposed operation is too close to a residential subdivision.

Heather Mcalpine (Picton , 2021-08-15)

#264

I disagree with the proposed mining

Phil Davison (Christchurch, 2021-08-15)

#267

I’m signing because it is my home and don’t need trucks going non stop past my house

Georgia Alexander (Hanmer Springs , 2021-08-15)

#271

We are landowners on Tauranga Bay Road. Don't want land devalued because of this situation. Came for the peace and quiet, not to hear trucks 24/7; if we wanted that we would live in a city. Don't want native birds destroyed by the heavy traffic and amount of. Don't want the roaring destroyed by 24/7 heavy vehicles. Don't want air polluted because of trucks - have respiratory issues. Dont want radio active materials around our property. Makes no sense to travel this route - doesn't seem to be economical and the carbon footprint would be phanominal! Don't need it! ...Too many NO's & Don'ts ...JUST DON'T NEED IT OR WANT IT!

Mary & Kerry Wallis (Westport , 2021-08-15)

#272

I am signing this petition because I believe the mining should not be allowed to happen in this area for all the reasons covered in this petition.

Coralie Nicholson (Tauranga, 2021-08-16)

#279

I don’t agree with the mining in this area

Becky Brand (Blenheim, 2021-08-17)

#283

For years we have been promotting the beauty of this region as a tourist attraction both nationally and internationally. This mining proposally is a complete crontradiction that flys in the face of what has been achieved to date.
To suggest that the impact of this mining proposal will be only minor is absolute rubbish. This mining proposal will hhave a major negative impact on the region and must be publicly notified.
In the twenty plus years I have lived in this region I have noticed on several occasions that both our district and regional councils have suggested that a proposal will have only minor impact and need not be publicly notified, only to have that attitude tipped upside down by concerned residents. Please stop trying to play god. Listen to your constituents and allow them a voice through the proper channels of a publicly notified resource consent process.

Anni Kolff (Westport, 2021-08-17)

#285

People (including people I know) will be severely adversely affected.
I can’t bear to think of this stunning part of New Zealand being ruined, with all its wildlife

Anna Hamann (Blenheim , 2021-08-17)

#290

This is a stunning part of the coast, it's unspoiled and home to an native flora and fauna that we're supposed to protect. We're all aware of the state of the environment and how much we need to protect it .We need to take great care of our coastline too. Please don't let this go ahead .

Lynne Clark (CHCH, 2021-08-19)

#294

This is one of the most naturally beautiful and treasured areas of our shoreline here on the West Coast. As a young family who spends a lot of our free time here, we are concerned for the safety implications, and most importantly the damage to the environment. This type of excavation will reshape the face of the land, and risk biodiversity. Furthermore, China is a large country with plenty of power, influence and resources. The UN estimates that 4.1 billion tons of cement is produced every year, driven primarily by China, which constitutes 58% of today's sand-fueled construction boom. If they cannot manage their countries over-population with their own resources, it is not on New Zealand to fuel it. Let’s keep what is still pristine safe, and truly stand for what this country says it does!

Allison Kaster Carey (Westport, 2021-08-19)

#298

My home town and my favourite spot .. don’t want to see this beautiful part of the world ruined by another careless mining company.

Melva Weber (Coburg North, 2021-08-20)

#302

Tauranga Bay is the jewel in Westport’s crown.

Andre Gygax (Westport, 2021-08-20)

#305

I oppose the proposed mining in Okarito and Mine Beach as well as in Barrytown *the later is done by other company) in its entirety as this will cause irreversible environmental and social damage to the respective areas and properties adjacent to the proposed transport routes.

Andrzej Suchanski (Fox River, 2021-08-20)

#306

Tauranga Bay is one of the most beautiful places in the world!
Why destroy a piece of heaven to ship a bunch of sand to the other side of the world?

Tez Verney (Griffith, 2021-08-20)

#307

We want to keep our beaches and small communities just the way they are

Sheree Cargill (Westport , 2021-08-20)

#313

I'm signing because I grew up here as a young kid and I now take my children there and forever more generations I hope will visit this beautiful slice o fparsdie

Renee Pascoe (Marlborough , 2021-08-22)

#318

I do not support the rampant extraction of minerals in such an important ecological and public value area.

Bron Rodda (Murchison, 2021-08-22)

#320

This mine and other ones proposed on the west coast are intrusive, environmentally unsound, and make a joke of the RMA. Also profits will go offshore whilst NZ mines, coal included are held back.

James Silcock (Barrytown , 2021-08-24)

#321

This seems a crazy idea given the locality to houses, and the route the trucks would need to take though these housing areas.
Not very environmental also.

Nicole Cooley (Nelson and westport , 2021-08-24)

#327

I'm signing because I'm opposed to the location of the proposed mining operation.

Karen Huckstep (Westport, 2021-08-24)

#334

This proposal is totally unacceptable for our community The unique qualities of the West Coast will be destroyed and further reduce access to the natural environment for locals and visitors

Elizabeth Traves (Westport, 2021-08-25)

#336

I am signing because I have a family bach in Tauranga bay and care very much for the serenity of the area and nature within it. It is a beautiful and unique place which would be hugely compromised by the proposed mining. It is even more troubling that this would be allowed without being publicly notified. This should not even be considered - the preservation of New Zealand’s environment is far more important than corporate gain.

Holly Blake (Marlborough, 2021-08-26)

#338

Another smash’n’grab opportunity to line the pockets of a few out of towners at the expense of locals livelihoods, their investments, the environment, the character and beauty of the Cape. All with appalling regard and consideration of ‘risk’. Approval of the consent would show how broken and poor our Resource Management Act is. It’s an easy big fat NO from me.

Rodney Hall (Tauranga Bay, 2021-08-26)

#341

Taranaki Bay is a national treasure, profoundly unsuitable as a heavy truck route.

Douglas Royds (Christchurch , 2021-08-26)

#343

Heavy truck usage multiplied on this scale will have an enormous effect on this pristine part of NZ. The area is becoming a wonderful user friendly traveller destination involving many outside recreational activities- the granting of a RC to basically kill a lot of these activities for so many New Zealanders just for the financial benefit of a few, is incongruous.

Peter Day (Mt Maunganui, 2021-08-26)

#345

Support for those who live there
Make sure this gets properly notified snd we’ll examined publicly

Robin Woodsford (Richmond , 2021-08-26)

#347

I’m signing because I have visited Okari road surfed at Tauranga bay and think this area should be kept pristine and protected from the damage that sand mining would do

John Harrington (Sydney , 2021-08-26)

#349

Tauranga bay is paradise and holds so much sentimental value to so many people from Westport and far

Kenzi Halsall (Westport , 2021-08-26)

#350

As regular users of a dwelling at Okari Road for holidays, rest and recreation we object to the proposed development by Westland Mineral Sands as it will cause significant disturbance and the ruination of this amazing pristine location.
Imagine what a 50 tonne truck every half hour day and night would sound like for the next 10 years and then there is the unknown health risks created by the disturbance of the deadly toxins in the sand on people, farm animals and wildlife.
What a disastrous, and dangerous proposed development this will be.
It must be stopped before it starts.

Paul and Ann Davison (Nelson, 2021-08-26)

#353

The environment , wildlife & rights of local residents must be protected.

Brent Cain (CHRISTCHURCH, 2021-08-27)

#356

I cannot bear the thought of beautiful wild Nine Mile Beach and beautiful peaceful Tauranga Bay being ruined for short term gain.

Margaret Quigley (Christchurch , 2021-08-27)

#358

The proposed trucking route is not acceptable for many reasons.

Derek Parsons (Westport , 2021-08-27)

#360

My family is from West Port and own property around this area. It would directly effect them. Also preserving nature is more important than ever. Commercial use does not condemn destroying nature.

Jono Schepers (Nelson , 2021-08-27)

#364

I’m signing as this is a special
Wilderness area that is already in recovery and do not need industry to Mine its minerals and not care about the problem it causes along the way erosion etc … for another country’s gains ! I’ve spent many annual trips to this area and would be horrified if this happened .

Tracey-Lee McNamara (Dunedin , 2021-08-27)

#365

i wish to SAVe Tauranga beach to stay as it is , safe and a great place to visit

shane victor (Christchurch , 2021-08-27)

#366

I'm signing because I believe this will have a huge negative effect on the area and a family member has a property that is only 250 m from the proposed Plant site. This is a home that we have been able to share the use of and very obviously will be negatively impacted on in a major way.

Wayne Rathbone (Napier, 2021-08-27)

#367

I am signing this because this beautiful environment will be destroyed. I was born and lived many years in Westport. This part of Buller has always been promoted for its nature and unspoilt beauty. My brother owns a property at 199 Okari Road which is special destination for our family to return to home. His property is 250 meters from where the proposed plant will be.

Fay Diskin (Te Awanga, 2021-08-27)

#371

We have destroyed enough of the south

Garry Higgins (Nelson, 2021-08-28)

#372

I'm a Coaster and there is no way this shld be happening

Jenny Hardaker (Queenstown, 2021-08-28)

#373

As I was born and bred in Westport I frequently return to holiday in what i call one of the most beautiful spots on the coast. Tauranga Bay/The Okari. I do not want to see this beautiful part of the Buller spoilt for the benefit of foreigners. I am also very concerned about the effect it will have on our health being a frequent visitor to the area.

Jo Henderson (Nelson, 2021-08-28)

#375

I love Cape Foulwind/ Tauranga Bay, please don't grant the mining company consent, the industry will ruin our towns precious coastal playground.

Gail Alexander (Cape Foulwind, 2021-08-28)

#376

I'm a former Coaster and I had the great privilege of actually living at Tauranga Bay. It needs to stay as it is

Lisa Tuisamoa (Rangiora, 2021-08-28)

#377

I don't want this beautiful part of the world destroyed!

kim lennon (GLEN FORREST, 2021-08-28)

#378

I objected to the mining in Hector at our bach and no one listened. This mining disrupts all the wildlife in the area and puts unnecessary trucks in a beautiful scenic route.

Nicky Galbraith (Nelson, 2021-08-28)

#380

this is appauling

Rebecca O'Carroll (Christchurch, 2021-08-28)

#381

I live in this pristine area and want to keep it that way!

Leeann Hill (Westport, 2021-08-28)

#387

A mining & processing operation as this has no place so close to residential housing and recreational facilities. This will negatively impact thousands for the financial gain of a few.
