I am signing this because this is such a beautiful place that many people get to call home (including myself) and this would be devastating to see it turn into a dusty industrial thoroughfare. There are so many reason that this shouldn't go ahead listed in the details of this petition. Please help us save Tauranga Bay!!

Tamika Green (Westport, 2021-09-03)

#405

I learnt to surf there 50yrs ago and know where the penguins are along okari rd.
That road is not fit for purpose, and also concerned how far toward 9 mile beach are they intending to mine.

Gary Stevenson (Gerringong nsw, 2021-09-07)

Please don't ruin the West Coast paradise.

I believe this operation will be seriously detrimental to the environment at Cape Foulwind, including the recreational value of the area, an area that is much loved by locals and tourists alike.

#435

I am opposed to the mining operation stated in this petition

Andy Lukey (Christchurch, 2021-09-12)

#437

I’m sick of greedy humans who have no concerns other than money for themselves . No thought for the locals or Mother Nature . What hope have we got if something like this is allowed to go ahead .

Marcia Wordsworth (Christchurch, 2021-09-12)

#438

I live along the trucking route and my peaceful life will be negatively impacted by the noise and danger imposed by the trucks.

Nina Carpenter (Fox River, 2021-09-12)

#452

I’m am totally against any mining in this area, the roads are not built to deal with this much truck movements, lack of public consultation is another reason.

Suzanne Blunsdon (Westport, 2021-09-13)

#458

I want Aotearoa to be kept safe and precious places like Tauranga Bay and nine mile need to be looked after.

Kate Winsley (Wellington , 2021-09-14)

Iam against mining, and definitely the trucks along okari road.

Clay Alexander (Westport, 2021-09-14)

#465

Tauranga Bay is an area of significant beauty and home to an abundance of wildlife.

Angela Basher (Westport, 2021-09-14)

#466

I’m signing because allowing heavy trucks along a pristine beach road that has extensive recreational values, including the kawatiri cycle trail should not be approved

Christine Scrase (Lake Tekapo, 2021-09-14)

#470

NZ is known for its pristine environment and wildlife. This is wrong!

Vivien Pascall (Wellington, 2021-09-15)

#472

This is a unethical proposition by NZTA and local councils for many reasons.

Jackson Kerr (Auckland, 2021-09-15)

#474

I don’t want our beaches or surf breaks ruined

Carl Colville (Greymouth , 2021-09-15)

#480

Beautiful area!! and we don’t need to disturb, disrupt, destroy and ruin more wildlife’s habitat. We’ve already done enough damage to our earth!

Andy McIntosh (Van Living, 2021-09-15)

#483

Keep T/Bay & Nine Mile how it is,Leave it alone

Zak Johnston (Westport, 2021-09-15)

Tauranga bay and 9 mile beach should not be a trucking route.

Andrew Robinson (Auckland, 2021-09-15)

#488

My children and grandchildren in New Zealand do not need this pristine area damaged as the proposal will cause. New Zealand should remain clean and green.

We need to protect our beaches and Westport's pumping surf breaks!

Rasela Barrow (Greymouth, 2021-09-16)

#498

I am a surfer and don’t want this beautiful place ruined.

Benji Grant (Nelson, 2021-09-16)

#500

I am an immediate neighbour and this is disgusting!! People's livelyhoods are in jeopardy and these money hungry hounds are putting lives at risk!!

Dylan Burgess (Westport, 2021-09-17)

#501

These two beaches are enjoyed by many groups of families with young children and surfers young and old! Increasing the road traffic with heavy truck and trailers will only cause danger for people enjoying safe access to theses beautiful two safe beaches

Ben Curteis (Christchuch , 2021-09-17)

#505

The West Coast has already been ravaged by mining, trade routes, and greedy, uncaring international corporations, exacerbating erosion and devastating forests and wildlife for capitalist gain.
The roads are already made unsafe by a high amount of trucks and traffic passing through narrow roads and blind corners.
The little blue penguin population has already dwindled to endangered levels, due to destruction and violation of nesting grounds as well as the death toll caused by trucks and other motorists.
The proposed mine would worsen all of these issues and more. Mining of any kind in any area along this beautiful coastline would be another devastating blow to locals, regenerating forests, marine life, wildlife, road users and anyone else who cares for all the beauty the West Coast has to offer.
The proposed mine must be denied, and Tauranga Bay and Nine Mile beach should be protected from further attacks by greedy mining corporations.

Jennifer McMaster (West Coast, 2021-09-17)

Because we need to leave nature as it is

Morgana Wooff (Christchurch, 2021-09-17)

Westland Mineral Sands should not be given consent to sell sand dunes!

Dan Kelcher (Christchurch, 2021-09-18)

#513

I love this stretch of coastline and would hate to see it messed with…. Leave it alone ya pricks

Marc Roberts (Waikuku, 2021-09-18)

#515

It is*****ed, keep the sand where it is you greedy cunts

Calum McKenzie (Charleston , 2021-09-18)

#516

24/7 is ridiculous for trucking, there should be stricter conditions

steve hill (AK, 2021-09-19)

#517

I'm signing because I believe it is totally unacceptable to be driving heavy trucks endlessly through a beautiful, tranquil bay that not only has people living there because of its peace and quiet, but is also home to a diverse range of flora and wildlife.

Anna-Marie Dew (Christchurch, 2021-09-19)

#519

I'm a surfer and don't want to see one of the best spots on coast destroyed to feed China with more of our resources.

John Millar (Chch, 2021-09-20)

#521

The proposed mineral mining and the related heavy and frequent truck traffic is completely at odds with the lovely Kawatiri cycling/walking trail. This trail has received significant funding through the Provincial Growth Fund (read: all NZ-ers) and its recreational value is now very much reduced for the financial benefit of the mining company. And that’s not even considering environmental damage, noise and safety risks.

Hans Wiskerke (Westport, 2021-09-20)

#522

I'm signing because I do not see the financial gain of mineral mining compared to the major natural and ecological value of this area. Local tourism needs our total support, with a focus on sustainability, trucks are no part of that.

Mika Verheul (Westport, 2021-09-20)

#527

I love this beautiful part of the west coast and don't want to see it ruined and Im sick of seeing our natural resources sent over seas

Josh Scott (Christchurch, 2021-09-21)

#529

I love the area, would be a travesty.

Thomas Bigelow (Christchurch, 2021-09-21)

#534

This application is wrong on so many levels.

Kay Walsh (Christchurch, 2021-09-21)

#535

I am signing this petition because Tauranga Bay and the Cape Foulwind area is a very special natural area for all the locals and it is a top destination for our tourists to visit. The mine and the constant trucking will wreck the whole area, including the people who live so close to the mine site.

Joan Hamilton (Westport, 2021-09-21)

#537

Negative impact to our motel business

Lee Forsman (Westport, 2021-09-21)

#546

IT WILL EFFECT THE COASTAL ENVIRONMENT

Paul Shanks (Whangamata, 2021-09-22)

#548

I'm singing because I want to save one of aotearoa's beautiful beaches. Leave what we have left alone

Billy Foster (Christchurch , 2021-09-23)

#554

This is a beautiful natural environment that is very important ecologically to New Zealand, as well as recreationally to the town of Westport. Degradation, pollution, and noise pollution to this area will also have an extreme negative effect on tourism to Westport which is already having troubles.

Joseph Susol (Queenstown, 2021-09-24)

#559

I’m signing because keeping beach’s for our people is integral for New Zealand and New Zealand’s culture and it shouldn’t be destroyed for a trucking route

Kekona Rosario (Christchurch , 2021-09-24)

#560

Stop building highways start building community !!!

Elizabeth Rickman (Christchurch, 2021-09-24)

#562

Conservation of areas such as this is hugely important given the destruction that is taking place around NZ of pristine natural areas by ruthless business operators.

Ron Bush (Ashburton, 2021-09-24)

#563

I think the negative impacts on native species, the landscape and recreation values far outweigh any positive impacts

Jenny Chandler (Charleston, 2021-09-25)

#564

no beach should be tampered with. not to mention the wildlife. animals!

Claire Frith (Auckland, 2021-09-25)

#565

We need to take environmental action seriously, beautiful Nz beaches should not be used for the exploitation of our precious natural resources for profit.

Nick Williamson (Christchurch , 2021-09-25)

#573

The destruction of this natural habit will be catistrophic to the native envirnoment. Not only for the wildlife we can see (the likes of penguins) but also right down to the all microscopic life that resides within. With the destruction of one natural envirnoment another falls.

Cynthia Tucker (Raglan, 2021-09-26)

#574

This will harm the wildlife and the serenity of this area.

Leah D (Auckland, 2021-09-26)

#581

I'm a local surfer and don't want to see a place of such natural beauty ruined by traffic. The ninemile corner is already dangerous.

Craig Dickson (Westport, 2021-09-26)

#586

mitchell smith (Leichhardt, 2021-09-27)

#589

It needs, to stay unspoilt and enjoyed as it has for generations

Janene Gould (Christchurch, 2021-09-29)

#590

I oppose mining and exporting of our natural resources and the resulting damage and disturbance to the ecosystem. Leave this beautiful space untouched.

Sue Skeet (Auckland, 2021-09-29)

#599

As an Okari Road resident, to me it defies common sense to allow an estimated 40 truck and trailer units per day along a narrow service road which at time is well frequented by many tourists, surfers and the proposed transit of the Kawatiri cycleway as well as resident and service vehicles to the properties.
