New Proposed Position of Taramea Bay Toilets (opposite Taramea Bay Store) Seriously Impact Our Business

Comments

#1

I agree with this petition and think the toilets should be in the current location (old toilet block)

Nicole Booth (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#4

The best blue cod in southland and Riverton is my second home so heck yeah I'm Signing on behalf of chasing nature photography Keep up the good work Andy

Paul Heads (Invercargill, 2023-03-09)

#6

Public devices should give convince to people not embarrassment.
I support the the new toilet should choose another location.

Eve Wu (Christchurch, 2023-03-09)

#10

I'm signing in support of the concerns of the proprietor of the establishment tis will affect and negatively impact

Steven Murray (Riverton , 2023-03-09)

#13

I’m signing this petition because the proposed changes will obviously negatively affect the Taramea Takeaways business, who currently have a beautiful view and playground facing their premises. It would be more considerate and common sense to position the new toilet block at the same location as the current facilities. Portaloos could be used during demolition and rebuild. The park is in a great place with easy access, parking and the store opposite. Why move it?

Shirley King (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#15

I don’t want Mr Li to lose his business due to toilets being built where they are proposed to be.

Julie Hamilton (Winton, 2023-03-09)

#16

I don't want the Chinese shop to close or move out of Riverton

Saan Carroll (Riverton , 2023-03-09)

#18

Clearly this new toilet block should not be built here. What is wrong with where it is currently situated. Money being wasted in a time of inflation and cost of living crises.

Kathy Voss (Wanaka, 2023-03-09)

#21

Totally agree with Andy, the proposed position does not make sense.
Use the existing infrastructure and location of current toilets.
Do not block the view or take out the playground.

Anne Fotheringham (Gore, 2023-03-09)

#22

Moving the toilets is a stupid move. Why not build it where it is already as all the pipe work etc s already there. Just use portaloos while the existing toilets are demolished. Leave the playground alone.

Wendy Mcnaughton (Riverton , 2023-03-09)

#24

Andy's points are all worth signing for, and there are better places for a public toilet.

Tammy Wilson (Invercargill, 2023-03-09)

#25

It's a terrible idea. It blocks the future potential of the Taramea Bay store, which is 1 of only 2 businesses that operate along that stretch of road.

Vanessa Savage (Taramoa, 2023-03-09)

#27

I agree with Andy, toilets should not be in view of a food establishment.

And it is not okay to block a beautiful view with toilets.

Charlotte Hollis (Invercargill , 2023-03-09)

#29

Because i find the idea of a toilet facing a food outlet offense

Philip Sullivan (Riverton , 2023-03-09)

#30

It does not make sense to build the new toilets in the proposed place, so close to a excellent food shop, which is a credit to the owners and staff, blocking views. It would not be a good thing for Riverton to loose such a valuable asset to the community! I have long back family ties to Riverton and many fond memories and Taramea Bay store is a big part of that. Please use common sense and make plans for an alternative sight.

Amelia Duthie (Lumsden, 2023-03-09)

#31

The toilet block should not be built where proposed … why can the existing toilet block not be replaced?

Jill Wilson (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#33

I agree that it shouldn't be across from the shop

Stephanie Rossiter (Riversdale, 2023-03-09)

#34

I am a long time Riverton visitor and my parents line there now and I am a teacher at Riverton Primary so use this facility allot and so does my family of 5.
This so needs to e addressed asap

Cimone Page (Invercargill, 2023-03-09)

#37

My childhood home is next door to the store on the corner of rocks highway and Marne streets, my parents still live there and we visit Riverton frequently. It's great that the council want to develop the beachfront area and I think our family will enjoy the new developments but I don't believe the toilets are positioned in the right area either. The toilets being there will potentially block my parents view down the beach also. My children are already disappointed in the removal done of the playground activities so hopefully the new additions to the playground will be worthwhile.

Bridget McMahon (Wallacetown, 2023-03-09)

#42

I think the placement of the new toilets is stupid and it needs more thought

Sheryl Dunick (Invercargill , 2023-03-09)

#43

It is a stupid location for the toilet,in the playground, why don't they remove the old toilets and replace with new toilet.

Lewis Beattie (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#44

I grow up with that playground so did my kids and now my grandkids Leave it where it is Its part of Riverton

Judy Anderson (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#50

This is a terrible location

Kendra Bothamley (Invercargill, 2023-03-09)

#51

I believe in what Andi Li is saying and I agree with everything in this petition

Keegan Jackson (Invercargill , 2023-03-09)

#54

I don’t believe the new proposed site for the public toilets is the best decision. Rebuild on existing site

Wanda Leishman (Invercargill, 2023-03-09)

#55

Support our local business and playground position at the same place

Elaine Alves (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#56

I totally agree with all aspects of this petition.

Leone Ward (Riverton , 2023-03-09)

#58

The current position of the toilet block is adequate. The existing playground has many childhood memories and does not need moved. The shop outlook is beautiful. Many ice-creams have been eaten here along with memories of waiting for the school bus.

Sara Gentle (Riverton , 2023-03-09)

#60

It needs to be where they are now why move or put in new sewerage water and electricity when you can use existing utilities.

Chrissy Caughey (Otautau , 2023-03-09)

#61

This idea is probably being proposed by some person sitting on there arse making a decision with no thought of local feelings and culture

Murray Findlay (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#63

Born and bred in Riverton, come back often, and believe this is the wrong place to be building the new toilet block directly opposite a food establishment.

Sharon Watt (Dunedin, 2023-03-09)

#65

in support of Taramea Bay Store

Marianne Hodgson (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#68

I agree with Andy build new toilets where old ones are leave playground where it is it's a Riverton Icon

Elaine Cox (Riverton , 2023-03-09)

#70

I grew up here this place is my childhood, my family still live here, council please listen to the community

Michelle Quirke (Canterbury, 2023-03-09)

#71

Leave in the same location and give this great asset - the Taramea Bay store - the view it deserves..
And leave the playground where it is.. close to the toilet block and outdoor BBQ area.

Deborah Mackie (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#73

I agree with statements made , it’s culturally insensitive .

Susan Fletcher (Invercargill, 2023-03-09)

#77

Toilets in this proposed position will have an impact on the local take away store

Kerrin Diack (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#79

As a ex Rivertionian I totally agree with the owner of the store, this has been a wonderful drop off stop to sit and admire the view - NOT A TOILET BLOCK! I also had a hairdressing salon behind the store many years ago so know the area well.

Fran Muntz (Leithfield, 2023-03-09)

#80

Inappropriate place to put toilet block

Moira Young (Queenstown, 2023-03-09)

#81

I think the toilets will block an otherwise lovely view.

Jema Hall (Riverton , 2023-03-09)

#82

I believe that moving the toilets to the new location makes, absolutely zero sense. Why waste taxpayers money when they could be build in the existing location, utilising the plumbing and sewage systems already in place.

Shirell Belim (Riverton , 2023-03-09)

#83

I hate the way Riverton is changing. Catering for the holiday makers. This is ruining our quaint little town and making rates unaffordable to the long term locals.

Debbie Goodwillie (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#84

I think there are much better places that wint require the extra expense of moving the play ground equipment and in front of a food shop. I find a toilet in front of a food shop very inappropriate considering all the unused ares just a few meters away

Leanne Bush (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#85

I have sat outside this store looking at the view, I wouldn't wish to be looking at a toliet block.

Jill Maxwell-Strang (Waimatuku , 2023-03-09)

#88

I fully agree with the concerns raised.

Jason Franklin (Riverton / Aparima, 2023-03-09)

#89

I believe it will negatively impact a great business and would be a shame to lose it

Nikki Kemp (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#90

I am a ratepayer in Riverton and I do not support what SDC is planning.
Community consultation is needed.
This business and playground is a jewell for the locals and visitors.
Make the right decision SDC

Jeremy Bond (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#92

I agree with the proposal

Stan Jones (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#93

I'm signing because I believe that installing toilets directly opposite the Taramea Bay Store and Takeaways will hinder the business.

Averil Williams (Invercargill, 2023-03-09)

#94

I’m signing this for two reasons . one that playground has been there all of my life and the memories that that area hold for most people from around here would be very sad to see it go ! and secondly I don’t understand why the toilets can’t just be put where the toilets are instead of disrupting other people‘s livelihoods and culture ? why Mess with something that already works just needs a new one ! money being flushed down the toilet that could be used on better things because let’s face it the roads around here are bloody terrible !

Katherine King (Invercargill, 2023-03-09)

#95

It is a valid point, absolutely ridiculous to move the toilet block to a new position, just upgrade and renovate the facilities that are already in place instead of wasting money building new toilets.

David Roberts (Riverton , 2023-03-09)

#96

As local ratepayers, we believe that any redevelopment, construction, additions or alterations to recreational areas must be weighed up with the impact on surrounding businesses and residents as well being cost effective.

Maria Eade (Riverton , 2023-03-09)

#98

Placing a new toilet block facility directly in front of a food shop is not acceptable and culturally insensitive. The Taramea Bay store has been a great asset to Riverton for many years and placing toilets directly in front of this food outlet shop is terrible for this very popular important local business. Surely the existing toilets can be upgraded where they are and the existing playground which is very popular can stay where it is, saving the council and rate payers in unnecessary spending.

Melanie McIntyre (Invercargill, 2023-03-09)

#100

We own a property at Taramea Bay and spend a lot of time there
I agree with all the points Andy has made
It is a ridiculous site for toilets as well as serious Health risk

Judith Petersen (Invercargill, 2023-03-09)

#103

Good luck with the council. They can be pigheaded sometimes so hopefully you get plenty of people supporting your petition.

Lynley Barclay (Invercargill, 2023-03-09)

#105

I agree with the shop owners, there WILL be a better position.

Brent Richardson (Invercargill, 2023-03-09)

#106

There is already a toilet facility not that far along from here & seriously who thinks up these stupid ideas without public consultation

Verena Plato (Winton, 2023-03-09)

#111

Leave the toilets and playground where they are... culturaly insensitive to have near a food business

Jo Adams (Riverton / Aparima, 2023-03-09)

#113

I agree

Vic Breayley (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#114

Sounds very sensible to me & should be seriously considered. Must be possible to move it as it’s a very big area.m

Marion Calvert (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#115

I support the Taramea Bay store

Penny Walker (Queenstown, 2023-03-09)

#117

Supporting local business

Kohan Wilson (Riverton , 2023-03-09)

#118

This is a ridiculous idea.Totally disagree !

Jan Johnson ( Invercargill, NEW ZEALAND, 2023-03-09)

#120

Put the new toilet block where the existing toilets are where the services are already in place. Up grading them will be a lot cheaper than putting in new ones. Also you should not be putting toilets opposite a food outlet.

Billie-Ann Gadd (Otorohanga, 2023-03-09)

#121

There needs to be consultation with residents and businesses about what goes where and why.

Bull Kevin (Riverton, 2023-03-09)

#122

I agree that the toilets shouldn’t be placed there but along anywhere else or where they already are.

Kelly Turner (Riverton, 2023-03-10)

#123

I agree entirely with Andy Li in regards to the Toilet placement also leave the playground where it is ,For the past 55 years I know it has been there there have been no issues with its location ..".If its not broken don't #### with it

Garry Smith (Riverton New Zealand, 2023-03-10)

#124

The toilet location is in the line of view of the ocean daaa

Lex Shepard (Invercargill , 2023-03-10)

#126

I care

Mary jane Thomas (Invercargill, 2023-03-10)

#127

The proposed location would adversely affect a local business and there are alternative locations that wouldn’t.

Susan Harpur (Invercargill , 2023-03-10)

#128

Because I grew up in Taramea Bay and love that view, its an awful idea to put toilets in front of a food supply. I do not support that idea

Laura Menzies (Dunedin , 2023-03-10)

#129

Why wasting the money from taxpayers to build a new toilet for blocking the beautiful view? Is that the old toilet not functional? Is that new toilet required by the people living there?

Jacob Sujun (Invercargill, 2023-03-10)

#138

I'm signing because I believe current residents including businesses need to be consulted and listened too before changes are made. This is a well liked prominent local business in a small town that must be supported to stay to keep southland district alive.

Emma Peterson (Wallacetown, 2023-03-10)

#139

Don’t ruin a good business and why change what already works.

Dana McIntyre (Riverton , 2023-03-10)

#140

I don't agree with the proposed site of the new toilets

Jenny Paddon (Riverton, 2023-03-10)

#141

The toilets should stay where they are

Barbara King (Riverton , 2023-03-10)

#144

I don’t agree with proposed new toilet block and the council spending money on it

Jessica Thompson (Riverton , 2023-03-10)

#148

agree its not right to place these public toilets in this area

keith steel (riverton, 2023-03-10)

#150

It is culturally unacceptable and disrespectful. There are other locations where this toilet can be built, directly opposite from a food establishment is not one of them.

Carran Sioned (Riverton, 2023-03-10)

#152

It's a stupid idea to move the toilet into the playground area. The. Move ghe playground. Only a fool could think up this idea

Jody Muntz (Riverton, 2023-03-10)

#153

Support local business, I’m a rate payer in Riverton and love my home town.

Angela Ryder (Salisbury , 2023-03-10)

#154

I agree it is not a good look having public toilets in direct view of a food outlet.

Karen Westenra (Riverton/aparima, 2023-03-10)

#156

In support of Taramea Bay Takeaways

Yvonne Campbell-Burrows (Riverton, 2023-03-10)

#157

I agree with all of the comments outlined by Andy above. The chosen location for the toilets doesn’t make sense, is too close to the playground, to close to the store, and would be an eye sore there.

Aroha Carney (Riverton , 2023-03-10)

#160

I lived in riverton and still own a property there, I have children grandchildren we love to purchase food from the store and walk across the road to use the playground and consume food. The playground and the shop are iconic to riverton and need to be retained on the present site.

Kitson Kendra (Owaka, 2023-03-10)

#162

I totally agree what a waste of tax payers money when you only need to build where existing ones are.

Julianne Woods (Invercargill, 2023-03-10)

#163

Putting the toilets in front of the shop is just unacceptable, it’s disgusting, they will lose their view. Why change what’s not broken, I understand the old ones need renewed so put the new ones in beside the old ones, don’t go removing parts of playground for it.

Adele Bevin (Riverton, 2023-03-10)

#164

I believe that these should be placed on the existing site and the playground shouldn't be moved.

Heather Clifford (Richmond, 2023-03-10)

#165

I believe the new toilet block is not going to be in the best place.

Sandra Robb (Riverton , 2023-03-10)

#168

I agree with Andy. A public facitlity such as public toilets should not be in front or near a food venue. Seems wrong and would hate for Andy to loose valued customers to his business

Hannah Cormack (Invercargill, 2023-03-10)

#170

I was born and raised in Riverton, And we need to support the shop owners , the playground should stay where it is , the rates payers pay enough already

Carmen Fluerty (Tuatapere, 2023-03-10)

#172

I believe that no food outlet should have aloof straight in ur face as you lay leave a food shop. Would it not be to hard to lift the floor Same place in the existing toilet area as pipes and all plumbing are all ready in place

Ray Mccormick (Riverton , 2023-03-10)

#174

Because it's a stupid idea to put right there I'm with Andy on this one

Tara Mcwilliam (Waimumu , 2023-03-10)

#175

I am signing this because more thought needs to be put into where public toilets need to be place in Taramea Bay. I am a Kiwi, but even I know that a toilet right opposite a shop is culturally insensitive. To move the playground why !!!! you are trying to fix what is not broken. Just using up money that could be well spent elsewhere, there is nothing wrong with where it is. Put the toilets somewhere else where it does block a view. and NOT close to any food place, how grosse....Think again and logically about this please.

Kaye Giles (Invercargill, 2023-03-10)

#176

You have a very popular Chippy which is the only good Chippy in town. It has a fantastic location where we can sit and enjoy a meal and the view. No one wants to eat near a toilet. That’s just disgusting.

Melissa Heddershaw (Riverton, 2023-03-10)

#177

I agree that this is not the best place for the new toilet block

Marina Seager (Riverton , 2023-03-10)

#178

Of all the reasons stated in the petition.

Amy Morris (Otautau, 2023-03-10)

#180

I believe the toilets need to be situated away from the Taramea store. It's a really stupid idea to put them near a food establishment.
As a local resident I strongly disagree.

Kat Kemp (Riverton, 2023-03-10)

#182

I support petition. We need to be sensitive to cultural diversities. We need also, in this time of economic challenge for small businesses, do all we can to support those providing such a service and not compromise the viability of their business.

Roger Wilson (Invercargill, 2023-03-10)

#184

My husband and I live 2 blocks from Andy and value his business very much. Small community we are, so need to look out and help everyone we can. Thanks Andy for bringing this to our attention, otherwise wouldn't have known there was a problem!

Joy Tait (Riverton , 2023-03-10)

#185

I agree with your ideas

Cyril Lawless (Riverton, 2023-03-10)

#188

I love the way Andy runs Taramea Bay Store and as a teenager I would love to get a job working for him as he is really kind. If he leaves then I don't think I would enjoy going into that shop as much.

Jakob Collins (Riverton, 2023-03-11)

#190

Toilets should not be placed directly opposite a food place. It is culturally insensitive

Amanda Quinn (Invercargill, 2023-03-11)

#197

The toilets are in the perfect location now!!! Just put the new ones where the old ones are!!

Jodie Ross (Riverton, 2023-03-11)

#198

It makes sense

Symon Braydon (Wallacetown , 2023-03-11)

#199

I don’t think the new toilets should take out the playground. Build them where the ol toilets already are
