Bring Mock Exams and Study Leave Back

The decision to cancel mock examinations and study leave at Westlake Girls High School was one made without the input of the student body- the people that this decision effects the most. The value of practice examinations and study leave is monumentally more than that of only two more weeks of teaching time. This decision should be altered if the student body wishes it so. Say NO to Council plans for Rubbish and Recycling

SAY NO TO COUNCIL PLANS for Rubbish and Recycling in Tauranga and Western Bay of Plenty.    Tauranga and Western Bay Councils are currently carrying out a review of their Waste Minimisation Plan. It appears that they think too much organic material and glass is currently going to landfill.  In order to remedy this they are considering a number of proposals ranging from leaving things as they are (all private sector and use-pays) to changing to a rates-funded rubbish and recycling collection.

Save our local firewood and landscape services provider from being shut down by Auckland Council!

Silverdale Landscape Services Limited has recently been issued an Abatement notice from Auckland Council ... so we only have a couple of months to save our business and our jobs!Unfortunately, even though the complaints made to Auckland Council from a couple of neighbours only relate to the firewood processing part of our business, an Abatement notice requires the entire business to cease as a whole. It's an unfortunate situation when the growth of Auckland City and urban developments threatens t

A judge says a teenager who indecently assaulted three women could avoid a conviction. Te Rangiaho Ian Williams, 18, was to be sentenced in the Palmerston North District Court on Thursday for the indecent assaults. Talley's Boycott Petition

Please feel free to show your support by filling out our online petition. We are asking the Talley's Group to behave like good corporate citizens. By treating their workers with the respect and dignity in the workplace all employees deserve. In particular, Talley's opposed the rights of workers to elect workplace health and safety representat

Auckland: The City of Sails

SeaLink continued services to Port Fitzroy, Great Barrier Island

The residents of Port Fitzroy and the surrounding areas of north Great Barrier Island have been formally informed by the North Barrier Residents and Ratepayers Association that after Easter 2020 SeaLink will no longer bring freight or passengers to the Port Fitzroy Wharf. If SeaLink discontinues  passenger and freight services to Port Fitzroy and makes Tryphena the only stop on Great Barrier Island, our northern Barrier communities will suffer both personally and financially.  In fact, it has th

Saynotopaidparkingattownbasin

This petition is in response to the Whangarei District Councillors voting to introduce parking charges at our beautiful Whangarei Town Basin. The charge will be $2 per hour 7 days a week. There will be a very limited number of free parking in front of the children's playground but it has a time limit of an hour.  The impact of parking charges will affect the businesses in that area, families, loop walkers etc. To spend 2-3 hours  - walking the loop then stopping for a coffee, having brunch/lunch
