Keep our kiwi right to sustainably harvest wild food

Below is one example of a politically correct and illogical regulation that is going to prevent average kiwis from eating from the wild.  Stop this encroachment on our right to responsibly feed ourselves; Because Sea Shepherd have launched a legal challenge in the USA to ban NZ fish exports to the USA (worth about NZ$200 million), the Government is introducing a set net ban out to 4 nautical miles in the Golden Bay and Tasman Bay regions to prove it is protecting dolphins when; 1. There are no M

Retain STV (Single Transferrable Vote) as the voting system for Dunedin City Council Mayoral and Councillor Elections

First up...If you're going to share this on Facebook PLEASE sign it too - Thanks! A vocal minority, unhappy that their choice for mayor did not get elected, wish to push through a change back to an FPP (first past the post) system, in a thinly veiled attempt to get Dunedin's most divisive councillor in modern times elected as a minority mayor! A petition has been created by their supporters and it felt appropriate to 'balance the scales' Why FPP is undemocratic, and STV is a much better system:

Say NO to removal of right turn from N.North Rd to Mt Albert Rd.

In addition to the mt albert town Centre upgrade which includes the removal of valuable car spaces and lane reductions, it has been brought to my attention that in the new plans there will also be the removal of the right turn from New North Rd onto Mt Albert road. As they are also removing the slip lane with the free left turn from new north rd onto mt albert Rd this will heavily increase traffic from Avondale city bound. In addition the removal of the right turning lane will encourage illegal

Sign the petition in support of former Mayor Powell's suggestion for the Minister of Local Government to appoint a Crown Manager to Tauranga City Council.

In the last local government elections the residents of Tauranga Moana voted for a change in leadership at Tauranga City Council (TCC).  The residents voted for leadership that reflected the diversity in Tauranga. Acknowledging first Tangata Whenua and the principles of partnership, participation and protection outlined in the Tiriti o Waitangi.  Sadly there are some councillors and residents who do not want progress or the status quo to change.  This is evident in their opposition to  Māori War

Save our local firewood and landscape services provider from being shut down by Auckland Council!

Silverdale Landscape Services Limited has recently been issued an Abatement notice from Auckland Council ... so we only have a couple of months to save our business and our jobs!Unfortunately, even though the complaints made to Auckland Council from a couple of neighbours only relate to the firewood processing part of our business, an Abatement notice requires the entire business to cease as a whole. It's an unfortunate situation when the growth of Auckland City and urban developments threatens t

removeT2onAkorangaDrive

Let's remove the T2 Lane between 4-6 pm on Akoranga Drive - from 'The Warehouse Way intersection traffic lights' to the 'College Street traffic lights' (North Bridge Hospital side) and  leave it as a two laned road.   At present it is a T2 Lane, a lane which is meant to improve travel efficiency between 4-6 pm for transit vehicles. (Buses, Taxis and other vehicles carrying multiple occupants.) I don’t doubt that the majority of T2 lanes help to do this, but at this time of day there are more peo

Stop the Greytown Trust Lands Trust from holding the Greytown Community to Ransom

The GTLT was established in 1871 with unsold sections from the early development of Greytown. Its purpose, set out in a parliamentary act, is to primarily assist education, but including libraries, physical welfare, other cultural purposes, and maintaining and promoting in the district the general well-being of the public. 150 years ago there was a real need for education support but now much of this is provided by central government.  The GTLT directors are holding our community to ransom by th

Say NO to Council plans for Rubbish and Recycling

SAY NO TO COUNCIL PLANS for Rubbish and Recycling in Tauranga and Western Bay of Plenty.    Tauranga and Western Bay Councils are currently carrying out a review of their Waste Minimisation Plan. It appears that they think too much organic material and glass is currently going to landfill.  In order to remedy this they are considering a number of proposals ranging from leaving things as they are (all private sector and use-pays) to changing to a rates-funded rubbish and recycling collection.

Prosecute Palmy Teen for assaulting THREE woman

A judge says a teenager who indecently assaulted three women could avoid a conviction. Te Rangiaho Ian Williams, 18, was to be sentenced in the Palmerston North District Court on Thursday for the indecent assaults. But Judge Stephanie Edwards put the case off until September so a discharge without conviction could be considered. ”I’m troubled by this case,” she said. Each time Williams ran up behind a woman and indecently assaulted them. New Zealand this is an opportunity to band together and p
